This film was recorded at Karakaya Retreat Centre in the Anatolian mountains.
Özgür Baba and Adrian met for the first time just a few days earlier and found a beautiful synergy in their music. They decided to record some music, and sat down quietly in the deep of the night by the flames of a gentle fire. Özgür sang this beautiful Sufi song, making space for Adrian’s Zen shakuhachi flute to weave its musical magic in the silences between the notes.

I live in a reality that has shunned the spirit. A world that scoffs at the stillness of old. Each day, woken to frenetic people pacing around the boxed walls of this city. Pacing as if chased by something dreadful. Suffocating in menial tasks. Drowning themselves in the humdrum of vehicles. Of trains. Of buzzing devices. Anything to take them away from the agony of stillness.
In circles they gather, ornate attire and flamboyant garb, talking past one another. And like the wheel of a rotor, they turn and turn endlessly, dragging me with them, regardless of my fight.
And like a fire, they snuff out my flame. Cold and robotic, they lubricate my wheel, wind me up and command me to spin. And so I do. I dance, dance just like them. And they smile. And I smile. But inside, I am cold and hollow.
But on this evening, I am reminded. Inspired by your beautiful notes, by the spirit guiding your instruments. And for a moment more, I recall the will to fight. To hold on, if not just a day longer. To cling to that last note from your two’s sound. And for that I am forever grateful.
What you wrote reminded me of this poem of Orhan Veli Kanık.

It still is an ignorant statement that shows unawareness towards the art.. How hard you think it is to blow bamboo stick? The stick is called Shakuhachi. You might be unaware but stick is master level. Most other flutes are easier. I dont even describe how the OP disregarded the art, the instrument and the human playing it in a sleigh of words. I will just point out, that *for me* this music are two voices and not some monotheistic theocracy that is somehow superior to another music.
People are people and music is their creation, not stars, not stones. But those who want to make comparisons are the ones who don't understand and try to compare with everything
