- This is me trying to carve a dragon egg. I feel like it might came out looking a bot too much like a pinecone, but it was a fun project :)
I hope you enjoyed watching this. I have made a lot of subscribers lately and i just reached 6500 today which blows my mind! Thank you so much for that!
Looking forward to start the next project. perhaps it will be a dragon skull?

That's a pretty pinecone you got there
Thank you! It has won many pinecome awards
It's beautiful.
I'd love to see one hollowed out, a baby dragon just poking his/her head out, with a bit of the shell as a hat.
I'm whimsical. ❤
Nice job, you could start a "dragon eggs serie". But it looks like a cone pine haha.
Yepp. Guess i have to redesign my next dragon egg. Im going for a bigger one then
I think making the bottom less flat and the top less pointy would making it more egg shaped and less pine coney
Man, your work is awesome, you do that things look like very simple and easy to do... Congrats 👏👏👏👏
Keep up the great work Jonas. Your videos are providing me with a bunch of inspiration, new techniques, and the motivation to keep on making things. I'm absolutely enjoying every minute of your process. Thank you...seriously, man, I'm looking forward to next video!
Thank you so much Yoder :D it sounds really awesome! I will try my best not to dissapoint you in the next video. i have to come up with an awesome sketch for my next project :D
Very beautiful egg. I love the texture and color. Who's to say that Dragon eggs aren't scalely for protecting their young. Amazing no matter what.
It's amazing to see how it finally all turned out, that stand is gorgeous! And the egg colour!! 😍 I don't think you could have picked anything more perfect! Also I loved the little birb cuties at the end, what a sweet little touch!
Thank you Tia! Yeah it is cool to be the owner of a real dragon egg now 😃 haha yeah the chickens are a lot of fun and i think they have a great life
It looks like a green acorn cool
Yeah i gotta agree with you there 😃 but it looks a tiny bit like a dragon egg as well right? 😃
Perhaps shine it up and make it a turquoises green blend next time? Maybe that will clear the confusion.
@@Jonasolsenwoodcraft It could, in the same way the pine cone in the vatican does, symbolize the pineal gland. Now you just need to make 2 peacocks for eternal life.
Whooaaaaa there. Look out for the theiving poultry at the end. Dont want your feathered friends stealing your hard work. 😁
They did not really care about the egg. i kind of wanted the to notice it on the video, but nope :D the did notice the corn very much haha :D
Has anyone ever told you, your an amazing artist? If not... I'm telling you..😍. I love it and would take care of it like any loving mother would her child, and if anyone had anything to say about it? I would have only one word for them.... "Jicaras" 😉
Keep up the excellent work Love 😘
Fascinating how you have the idea that dragons have eggs that look like Pine cones!!! You went to a lot of trouble this time Jonas, I particularly like the very stylish stand you put your Dragons egg on. I have never watched Game Of Thrones so I didn`t know what to expect, but I like the idea of dragons, just wouldn`t want to meet one, see you on the next one, regards from John in England.
Hello John. yeah it really was not my intention to make it look like a pine cone, but i turned out pretty similar :) Thank you for the support! i do to want to meet a dragon one day :D
nicely done with tons of sanding work in this build. But beautiful result.
Thank you! Yeah it was so much sanding! 😃
When I saw the teaser on Patreon I was dying to know how you kade the scales! Never would have guessed they were intersecting spirals! Brillianr!
i would LOVE to own beautiful art like this. everything you make is truly beautiful
Thank you so much! My shop is not very active at the moment, but i will notify everyone if i post something new there
oh wow how beautiful i so wish i could add that to my collection its beautiful i could imagine having many of those in different colors wow beautiful
It really turned off it awesome! I really like the stand.
Thank you! the stand was a pretty quick part of the project, but it kind of was the most interesting to work on because i got to be very free with it :D
It’s really nice to see that you read the comments on your last video about the text being kinda difficult to read without a border and how you should add one so then you then you did :)
Yeah it was a good advice :) It was already an option in the movie maker version i am currently using :)
Keep up the good work! Your videos have inspired me to try this myself. I will start with the basics and go through safety precautions first
I just love your work! Such beautiful art pieces! Greetings! Can't wait for the next video :)
Hello thank you! comments like this really makes me want to bring the best videos i can possibly do :D
So. A pinecone is a dragon egg. Cool.
That's awesome, kinda looks like a dragon egg. Great channel, just subscribed. All the best.
Looks like a really cool emerald gem! The scaly exterior is awesome, and I'm surprised I actually didn't think it was a pinecone first like a lot of the others in the comments.
Yeah a lot of people says it looks like a pinecone and i cannot disaggree with them :) but it also looks like a dragon egg and thank you for noticing :D
Very nice, good job. Greetings from Pakistan.
Thank you! greetings back from Norway :)
I wonder who where does people to dislike this vid in my opinion this is awesome
1:54
WHAT ARE THOSE!!!!
They are my crocs!
You deserve more likes and more views on all your videos
Thank you so much Sally :) i will keep riding this train the entire year and post regularly and we will see where it takes me :) i am already happy with the response i get
Such a cool look! 😍 Great job! ✌
Thank you so much :D i appreciate the support :D
It looks like a giant acorn but still very cool. That's gotta be super painful for a dragon to push out it being all spiky and stuff
Me: eh screw it I’ll just paint a pine one green.
Good job bro!!
One of those goose-chickens will be the Mother of Dragons)
Haha yes 😂
awsome work I love dragons
Thank you so much :)
Nice, Make another one in Red / Orange, with Flamepattern that would be AWESOME !
Thanks! Yeah i was thinking about that. I would like to make a bigger one in the future 😃
PINECONE!!! XD Nice job!
Haha :D well well not all projects are supersuccessful xD
Nice dragon egg
You da Man!!
Thank you so much Adam :D Your da man too!
i love your work, so .... subbed :) keep going on man :D
Thank you so much! I appreciate it and i will give it my best shot! 😃
so did the chickens adopt the egg as their own? :D
How come they green is darker in some places? I love the scaled look
Yeah they took it... and i cant get it back because they keep biting me...
It is darker somewhere because it is birch burl wood
I think your video recording of your work is definitely improving. With all those ridges on the egg it's no wonder dragons are so mean-spirited!
In a side note I think my grandparents came from the same area of Norway as Where You Are. Maybe we're related😊
Thank you! i feel like i used a bit too much time lapse in this video and honestly i kind of liked my previous video a bit more. i will make sure to keep my next video more "zen" like. oh so your ancestors are from Norway :) yeah who knows. perhaps we are related. i live on an island called Senja in Northern Norway
Favoloso! Bravissimo!
Thank you 😃
Well done!
Thank you so much! 😃
Very cool. Better than I pictured in my head but with the detail work on the egg I suggest not to sell it in yellow. It may get confused for a pineapple lol. Unless you tweak it to give it some cracks as if the dragon is hatching. Maybe even show a claw. Either way it still looks cool. This is what I love about wood, the markings are going to make each one unique no matter what.
Thank you so much! yeah it became a bit too similar to a pine cone, but it was a fun project to work on (except from the handsanding. it was way too timeconsuming) Looking forward to share the next video with you :)
What is the most delicate thing you have had to carve out? Have you ever tried flowers? For example Iris flowers come in every color of the rainbow and would love to see your take on that or a peacock that one would be a cool one as a tourquoise pendant.
I carved a bee sculpture out one time, but i have also carved a tiny bee pendant with small legs. That was very hard actually
Dude, you made a pinecone. Nice work!
No it is a pine cone looking dragon egg. Thank you 😃
Stephen Keefer I knew I was not the only one thinking that
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKIN
ehehehe i like the video but the design is making me laugh so much bcoz i dont even want to imagine how the dragons getting that out XD
Omg niceeee I love it!
Thank you so much :)
Jonasolsenwoodcraft your welcome
It does look more like green pine cone, rather then a dragons egg, but still awesome the way it looks anyway...
It does not! this makes me furious! or when i think a bit about it i can say that you are absolutely right!
Dragon egg? Pinecone? Upside down strawberry? All of the above.
Your videos are always wonderful to watch, you should do a video about your tools, and a start up guide or something like that. You could also do a contest or something where you make something and others try to replicate it. just a thought. cheers.
Hello Juan. i think you are on to something there. i will definitely make some guides in the future, but at the moment i am trying to grow my channel so i think i will make a few more "showpieces" :) It would be really cool to see others trying to make something from a guide i made :)
what kind of disk do you use before you use the sander? @1:45
Juan Diaz hey it is a merlin 2 grinder with a red tungsten carbiee coarse disk
Amazing!! :)
I like the sound of the machines. Please let them play instead of muting
Amazing craftsmanship. I love it.
Is that a band saw/table saw combo or what? I've never seen one like that.
Thank you so much! unfortunately it is just a band saw. i think my next investment will be a table saw because i really need that :)
brilliant
Thank you so much :D
amazing
very good from brazil
I very much enjoyed watching you carving, but the entire video was so eerily quiet, especially when you were moving the egg to different workstations. I couldn't help but think some background music would go a long way, just a suggestion to what in my opinion at least would improve the video :).
Very nice, good job. Greetings from Spain😋👍
Thank you so much! it was so much work to sand the egg :D
Looks like a flower
Super cool! what type of wood is it?
I noticed that for these paints, there seems to be a second lid after you take the first one off. Is that just the liner for the cap falling off, or is it supposed to do that?
What tool do you use, dremel? Great work lad.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. We all do faux pas at times. You're still a pretty awesome artist!
No problem! i am not offended. I actually agree with the statement that it looks like a pine cone
Beautiful as usual 😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much 😃
Might could have used a stain conditioner before using the stain for a more even color. How many hours did it take? Nice job.
Hey thank you! I have bever tought about that. I will definitely read about it. Hmm i think it took me about 6 hours in total without breaks (with the filming it took me about 12 hours)
And there was me thinking a Dragon only hatches when it senses its rider is nearby.
Hmmm perhaps that is right. guess i have to go look for that person :)
Gorgeous :D
Thank you very much 😃
You really welcome, you are very talented ;) Hilsen fra sør Norge :)
Fra sør Norge 😃 så kult! Hilsning tilbake fra Nord Norge
получилась зелёная шишка!
:0
U should do a squirrel or mouse
This might seem like a stupid question but can any wood be used to make these carvings, obviously some woods are better than others but I want to know woods are good but are also cheap?
Hello i am actually not very experienced with all types of wood. I have mostly used birch, but you can find a lot of info about this online
Que da hora👏👏
I have a question, does it make a loot of difference to use a cheap dremel like tool for a few dollars or a real dremel, I would like to use it for carving.
Thanks for the help
I do not know really. i have a very cheap dremel at the moment. The biggest difference is the strength of the electrical engine so if you are doing work where you have a lot of ressistance on your bit, it could be better with an expensive one
Congrats you made an artichoke!!! Jk though seriously nice work. That doesn't look easy and it looks bitchin
It's beautiful, can you tell me the name of your tools, greetings from México.
Hello. i will add them in the description in a few days. i just need to make a list :)
Looks great man! I hope well get a baby dragon next (as I said in another comment, I LOVE dragons) Grüße aus Deutschland!! ❤👍 (if you read my other comment youll know what that means)😉
Iskierka 1337 I'm from germany too.Danke frohes neues Jahr!! (A little to late but it can't hurt) 😉😂
Adam Do'Urden Ziemlich spät, aber danke dir auch😂😂
Is there a specific place you get your materials? If there isn't, what areas would you find Birch burl?
Hello i have read that they grow mostly in valleys with little sun. i have bought some of my burls and i have also gathered some from regulated government forrests. And it is definitely more burls close to the coastline from my experience
Jonasolsenwoodcraft thanks and I think that you have great content that is different from most youtubers:)
Thank you! That is very encouraging to hear 😃
Hi have you link please to where I could find one of those mini girders Thanks
No offence before you painted it, it looks like a pine cone ( my idea of a pine cone ) not a dragon egg and again afterwards it's not the best resemblance of a dragon egg. It lacks the depth and light veiny effect a dragon egg should have.( again my opinion). I do have to give it to you, your patience with this project is astounding, ( I personally couldn't do any better, I've never tried any of sorts in my life ). So I congratulate you friend.
Everyone has the rights to have their own opinions Jerome. Thank you very much my friend :)
Does that little hand grinder you use have a name?
Niceeeeeee
Interessante...
Probably a stupid one but still: what speed do u usually carve wood on? (dremel speed for sand-paper bit)
Where can I get a pair of those Shop Crocks?
Amazing work, dont stop
Thank you! I wont and thanks for the support
muito bom
Thank you my friend!
You do really beautiful work! So forgive me for being a smart ass, but your dragon egg looks like a pine cone.
singlecatt you are the 100th person to say that! Me so maaaaad!!! Arghhhh
I think it is suuuuuuuper cool but it kinda looks like a artachoke
Haha most say pinecone 😂 Its a da@m dragon egg 😂
Green Dragon egg from D&D lol
That's really cool, When's it hatching?
Thanks! well i have never seen a dragon egg hatch so perhaps 100 years? :O
Joseph Durkin Probably about next week, right?? 😉
And its not a baby dragon, I want it to be the next project (im obsessed with dragons pls help)
Greetings from Germany!❤❤👍👍
Haha that was actually a very good idea 🤔 thanks for that 😃 wow it was in a fact a great idea 😃😃
Jonasolsenwoodcraft Those 100 years will fly by. Then you'll have a nice little baby Dragon. Better start thinking of names.
I guess you are right 🤔😃
it looks like a pine fruit
That looks like a pine cone
Thank you for not adding music to your video!
What Wood did you use?
This is birch burl
It looks like a pine cone
What is that for wood
could you try a lion head next?
Hmm i have tried it and i was really hard and i was not very happy with the design so i might give it another shot :)
Jonasolsenwoodcraft lions are kinda my favorite animals and seeing your skill i tought it'd be an awesome outcome🤘
I wanna start doing these things too but the tools are kinda expensive here in the netherlands 😜
Keep up the great work💪
A dremel 3000 is fairly cheap. It can be a good way to start or you couel just go ahead and get a whittling knife. You can build your skills without expensive tools
Jonasolsenwoodcraft i do have a dremel idk wich one tho😅
But i mean like the saw you use, thats the main thing i think thats holding me from beginning
واو
what tool is it? 1:48
What is the dremel model-name ?
Больше на шишку похоже
шишка=)
