Excellent go anywhere camera with the CCD picture quality, super macro and incredible reach super zoom. Then, I got curious about slightly newer Canon PowerShot SX cameras and settled on the Canon Power shot SX20. Pretty much the same with a few redesigns and 12mp. About the same price; with continuing the film look. These are the greatest little cameras. My wife is using the SX10 and loves it. Thank you Carmine.

    Hi,
Thank you very much for the video.
Having loved an amazing Minolta X-370, I bought a Sony a200 so I could use those wonderful old Minolta lenses. Loved that Sony, too, having gotten many wonderful images and learning so much from it. Those images always kind of blew me away. Its IS failed, so I ventured into other cameras...Panasonic ZS-40, GX9 and FZ-300, and then a Pentax K-5iis, and a Sony w150. Each has their charms and produced some great photos. But looking back through old photos...there's just something about those Minolta/Sony photos that are more pleasing to me.
Maybe its that 10MP Sony sensor, or even the legacy Minolta lenses, maybe not. But I just love the look of those like none of the others.
So I chuckle now to see that these "old" cameras are making a comeback. "Pleasing" images...such a subjective thing.

It almost seems as if CCD technology reached it´s peak at some point in the past, and every time was more and more difficult and expensive to do technological innovations to the CCD sensors. So they opted for CMOS for the future instead. But no doubt we have a top notch imaging tech with those CCDs!

I've seen there are many different types and some that are made specifically for photos and video. As I have said before I personally have a Nikon D3100, D700, and a P7100. I have a question. When I shoot a closeup - flowers, leaves, etc. - with my D200 or D700, I’m blown away by the resolution and detail. But landscapes with those same cameras always disappoint me with lack of detail and pixelation. Any thoughts on why this is? I’m an experienced (40+ years) film photographer, and I don’t _think_ it’s my technique, though I could be wrong.

I have tips for landscape photos.
      1) use a prime lens not a zoom lens.
      2) f8 is the sweet spot on "most" lenses.
      3) a tripod OR Image stabilized camera or lens is very useful.
      4) keep the sun behind you when shooting landscapes nver in front of the camera.
      5) a lens shade/hood is an often overlooked tool.

Master, I'm having a hard time deciding which camera to buy... I found an e500 (and hard to find lenses to buy ) without lenses at a good price, but I also find the Sony a380 (finding lenses easily). Which one should I buy? The e500 and get an m42 adapter for fourthitrds and use m42 lenses or buy the a380 and use Minolta lenses? Among these two, which do you think would give an image more similar to film, within these 2 situations with the lenses I mentioned?

Hello Carmine. So now I've got both the Sony A390 with CCD & the A850 CMOS to utilize my collection of Minolta AFs. I wish I could send you an unadjusted image straight from an A200 10 mp I had 3 yrs ago. Result: Amazing detail& glorious Kodachrome film-like quality.

Professionals use all the tools they can find to make their images unique and memorable, as well as to fix image issues such as non-straight lines and unwanted spots. Editing your images also makes them look more professional and gives them a unique style.
      Be well :)

@@CarmineTavernaPhotography Spent the last several years using canon eos rebel body/lens, but now craving that film grainy look. Which ccd sensor camera can record video and great for photos giving that kodak like grainy film 60s-80s look? Like id wanna have a ccd censor camera for all around photography for a unique characteristic film look that time travels my audience to a old era. So which is the best bang for buck? Like which would give me that full on manual control feel, which shoots in raw? And lastly, I'm coming from a crop sensor aps-c camera, so based off your recommendation you'll give, which one is gonna be full frame or aps-c? Which will give a muted desaturated look, like that balanced flat classic Kodak look? And which will allow me to export in 4:5 ratio for social media purposes based on the in camera aspect ratio? Originally I had wanted to get a vintage lens with adapter on my current digital camera body, but I stumbled upon this video after extended research and I think I found the right recommendation. Your suggested way will get me the truest closest to that film look. I think it could be better than going the route I was gonna go, getting a vintage lens with a adapter to mount. Thoughts?

Indeed. Therefore I use my analogue Nikkor lenses mounted on the Nikon D300 and my analogue Nikons as well. @philosimot
