I found your video as I was researching the 3- Disc set, when I saw from your video that it does not have Dolby atmos, I purchased all three individually
Iâm gonna do the same thing unfortunately.
Thanks for your video ! I donât know what Sony is doingâŠ
Here in France that âsameâ 3 disc box set has all three movies in Dolby Atmos. E3 also has Dolby Vision. And E1 even comes with bonuses (featurettes and deleted scenes).
Very perplexingâŠ. Oh wellâŠ
Cheers !
I wish we got that set here, it sounds awesome!
I streamed Equalizer 3 from Sony's Bravia Core app. The 4K picture was great with rich deep blacks but the audio was just DD Plus 5.1 which sounded highly compressed. Sony claims to stream at 80 mbps or even higher. I do use an Ethernet USB dongle so internet speed or buffering doesn't become an issue. Like everyone is saying, what's with so many different versions of these films having different audio codecs. I do have a few other films on Bravia Core with Atmos that sound wonderful. Why wouldn't a 2023 film from Sony's own streaming service not have either DTS-X or Dolby Atmos as an option?
Eq3 is the best anyway
If not mistaken the first 2 films standalone has dolby atmos ??. So its better to get them all individually you think? Or is it worth the upgrade for the IMAX enhanced.
Well, there in lies the dilemma. Since the first film in this set only has a 5.1 audio mix, that one is a step down in my opinion. If you donât care about the Dolby Vision & Atmos of #3 and you donât want any special features, it may save you money (depending on the price). But if you already own any of the movies separately, itâs not worth it.
As I have the previous two movies on 4K I'll pick up the single release version of the 3rd movie. This seems like a cheap cash grab for no particular reason - normally you'd extra features not less in a box set but this is just strange. Thanks for pointing out the issues with this release. đ€
Hey Andrew, that sounds so bizarre. I wonder if there was some sort of licensing issue or maybe audio licensing changed hands?
Pun intended?
Licensing must have something to do with it. The standalone version of Equalizer 3 has Dolby Vision and Atmos. IMAX Enhanced and DTS are direct competitors with them so that may explain it.
In that collection, are all movies in the Imax aspect ratio, which are either 1.90 or 1.78?
Nope, they are all in their original aspect ratio which is 2.39:1.
@@CavanaughsCorner Thank you for answering my question. I was hoping they would be when I saw the sticker when it said Imax enhanced. So I'm assuming it meant for something else?
IMAX Enhanced has to do with a type of specialized HDR 10 and audio (in this case DTS: X).
@@CavanaughsCorner Gotcha ya. I would have love it if the movies were in the Imax aspect ratio, 1.90, which I prefer. Thank you for informing me.
In Canada Sony had been releasing bare bones collections of films, ie Spider-Man trilogy, Bad Boys trilogy. Looks like they are doing that in the States now
Hey, at least we get a digital copy lol.
@@CavanaughsCorner lol that is true
Hey Cav, that's very disappointing no dolby atmos & special features đ Also the standalone Equalizer 3 4k has dolby vision đ€·đż
Yeah as far as I could find out, the IMAX Enhanced thing is a partnership with DTS so that might explain the missing Dolby Vision and Atmos but it doesnât explain the missing DTS X for the first movie or the lack of special features. Very strange stuff.
@@CavanaughsCornerHey Cav, Sony at least should also have Included all 3 movies in blu-ray with special features & that would make it worth purchasing đ°
â@@CavanaughsCorner the first film was made before they had the ability to use dts x for films first film to release with dts x around than was zombieland double tap 2019
Also the dts hd 5.1 is preferred typically movies imax enhanced were made for imax not dolby
