I really had a laugh everytime he says "I just want nickel" while he is casually making game process
I actually was a little annoyed by it. Felt like he didn't appreciate the progress, he just wanted the nickel and go back only. Even when he discovers amazing story progression and lore, it's still only about the nickel so he can crawl back to his base across the map. lol.
@@Newgear01 yeah but he will uncover the story properly during an excursion for progression, in his mind the progression he wanted was crystalline sulphur and nickel. So it makes sense that he didn’t wanna intrude too much on the actual progress he made because he’s not yet prepared for it in his eyes

u did miss 2 huge skeletons to scan. one is the collosal skeleton near the ghost leviathan, and another closer to the alien facility, a sea dragon skeleton.
also, there is a passage beyond that facility...u should explore it. if u keep going, u will reach a familiar area, as well as a special path deeper...
also, try to scan the leviathans. u can easily scan if u use the stasis rifle. also scan the warpers, and read about them and everything you scanned today.

The big beautiful tree (Cove Tree) is one of the best locations to get started with a second base! You'll definitly have to bring the cyclops down there too, with all the materials prepared for at least a scanner room and a moon pool. The rest of the materials can be all acquired down there, especially with the drill arm of the Prawn suit. Literally everything you need is in close vicinity. Bring all the tablets and cubes down with you too.
As for the question on how to bring the cyclops down there safely: The lights do not affect if you're visible to any hostile creatures. The more noise you generate by using faster speeds, the further a hostile can sense you. It is possible to sneak past those translucent things by using the slow mode + silent running. In the very rare case it does attack you anyway, use a creature decoy tube or shield.

Also take acid mushrooms, blood oil, gel sacks and kelp seeds and start a external growbed. Then you literally have everything you need down there.
The, um, _glowing sperms_ also only do like 9 damage to a prawn suit so you can basically just walk past them and not care if they hit you.

Butch, that map mod lets you switch to different layers. Right now it's only displaying surface terrain.
It is displaying a different layer when he is at that depth.
The time capsules also contain messages in them

I built an awesome base surrounding the entire tree with glass walls so you can see the tree while you walk around.
Now that you’ve defeated the reaper, you get to experience an even worse gigantic alien horror of the sea 😅
Just imagine if all the big nasties from the lore were still out and about...
Butch: *diving into sulphur brine and salt brine, seeing the smallest of the ghost leviathans, scanning skeletal remains, missed scanning the Cove Tree, getting scared by a distant ominous roar, missing the GIGANITIC skull where the “glow sperm” is, finding the Disease Research Facility, scanning more bones and eggs, finding the assembly line of Warpers, contracting the /disease/ for story progression*

Hey man, great series, it's been fun watching you overcome your fears. That "gaseous" greenish river at the bottom of the "lost river" is in fact brine water, a super-salty mix of water that is found IRL, that's why it hurts you when you are in it, you're being pickled. also I keep yelling sulfur at the screen every time you say crystalline like it's a stripper's name.
I think the reason he says "crystalline" is because there are two forms of sulfur in the game: cave and crystalline.
Congrats - you've found the most beautiful, peaceful and wonderful location in the entire game. And nickel.

I am so glad you found the orange tablet base. Many people just miss it - I was thinking we may have to tell you to look around more carefully. For the future, my suggestion is that you bring some beacons with you - you can use to mark places you need to come back to. If nothing else, you can use them to mark your way in and out of the cave so that you don't get lost. Also, don't forget that there are edible fish around that you can cook with your knife - and cooked fish have some water in them.

Butch when he started playing subnautica: gets a panic attack from accidentally falling in to the ocean at night.
Butch now: battles a teleporting alien sea monster 600 meters deep in the ocean.
You know, theway you experience the game is so much more immersive. Your reactions are so much more realistic when put into the context of the player character being actually alive. If this were an actual person, it would make so much more sense that he would be hesitant, cautious, and scared almost constantly. It's actually really awesome to watch!
Always keep the tablets with you until the end 😊 also use the heat charging plugins down here as there are a lot of sources of heat here. :)
And as plenty of others have said, build a base by the tree as it’s a good way point for the end game
He really doesnr need the propulsion gun. He only needs one gun since they take up so much space. Could definitely carry tablets or more

There are two skeletons you missed that you can scan.
1. The big one in the lost river next to the sperm leviathan.
2. The Sea Dragon skeleton outside the alien research facility you found.
Also you can scan the big tree I think. Anyways getting that out of the way you have gotten extremely better at scanning things and exploring things so you don’t miss them. This series in its entirety has been amazing. You’re one of my favorite CZcamsrs right now and I mean that. I’ve never actually been able to finish the game myself and this series has motivated me to continue and try. Thank you and keep up the great content

As long as you have the grappling arm attached there is no hole you cannot get out of.
Don't worry, nickel is also available as individual pieces - they are somewhat hard to spot for the untrained eye though because they don't look like much.
Charging the defense system is entirely unnecessary btw - a single short pulse wards off creatures just as good without wasting all the energy.
PS: The cave with the blue glowing tree is one of the most picked spots for a second base in the Subnautica community.
A thing I’ve noticed playing subnautica and below zero that I’ve found in myself and seen in others, is that as soon as you get blood on your hands, you have drastically less fear. I remember the first time I killed a leviathan in below zero. It was fun.
An hour later, the entire species was extinct.

Oh man, Captain Butch in the next section is going to be interesting. I was finally feelings semi comfortable myself in the areas he’s been to, and then I went to the inactive lava zone and ALL that anxiety came back, and more. All the warpers, the sea dragon, low visibility.... I hate it down there. Probably why I'm back near the surface right now, procrastinating. 🤣
After last episode I took Butches' advice and I had a long hard look at myself and my wonderfully organized storage.
My seamoth got battered so I made a new one.
On completion I Checked my storage labelled "U/G Modules" next to my upgrade console and found a previously built mk3 depth module for my new seamoth.
Lol..
This just get better and better.

Another great video butch. Btw, you can collect tons of gas pods, and if you stasis a leviathan then drop like 30 gas pod and let them explode the leviathan you can kill almost anything. Little tip if you ever need it.

The Prawn Suit is easily the best mode of transportation in the game. It just takes time to master the grapple boosts and pendulum movement. Try to use it more often

21:56 These are Sea Traders. My favourite beings in Subnautica. They are very friendly and with their legs they mine through ground Shale Outcrop. (Gold, Lithium, Diamond) Its unlimited source of Shale Outcrop. + They are very fascinating to watch. They also sometimes poop shit that u can use as good bio-fuel.
Interesting fact about these guys is, that they are migrating from far lands through your biomes.
They wandering by famillies, so u can spot smaller traveller to.

Watching you play this makes me wish I could play it for the first time all over again. This game was SO much more than a video game. This was an experience and it's one that I'll remember forever. The fear and trepidation and actual panic when I saw the same things were mind blowing.
I love how he consistently leaves the prawn suit in favor of the significantly less defended sea moth.

scan the warper and skeletons. lore there thats story relevant and reletes to lost river stuff. also the walkers are safe so long as you stay away from their front as they will kick any threat they see. they kick up resources like various outcrops where they walk so follow behind them for random generated goodies. you can also take their poo for the bio reactor. might be worth making a one room base somewhere nearby as a sort of hoarders storage room.

This is epic to behold. Simply epic to behold. You truly did it, indeed. And yes, The Seamoth can not go beyond this point when it comes to the deep. But the Prawnsuit and Cyclops can. And if you upgrade both with Thermal Reactor Modules, they recharge their power simply by being near warm water. And believe me, you are about to dive into hell's aquarium.
This was your most heroic adventure yet. Congratulation for pressing on. You may not feel like it but you are conquering your fears.

33:58 😂😂😂 I’m sorry but it’s just so funny. The game is throwing it’s best story content at you but because you need nickel it just feels like unnecessary pressure.
One of the crazier things you CAN do, is to build exterior grow beds seeded with brain coral everywhere you wanna go. They will mature and spit oxygen bubbles, allowing you to go just about everywhere without the need of a vehicle.
Butch, you can use the prawns drill arm to drill big ore deposits like at 14:32. When you mine them the ores automatically go in your prawn storage. Also drillarm has aimbot when you use it to kill things
