    Voith is like an upside-down, underwater helicopter. Wonderful machines.

    Très bien ! Ça change des démonstrations de virtuosité à vide que j'ai vu faire par des remorqueurs équipés Voith. J'ai vraiment compris comment le remorqueur se met où il veut quand il veut. On voit l'utilité des translations latérales et même avec des rotation en plus.

      +reptilemusic55 Thx for the compliment ! Safety is indeed our first priority, and also the privacy in the harbor. That is why is cut out large pieces of the video which contain sensitive images ;) I love my job and i don't want to be forced to stop making these videos, so i'm very carefull with what i show online.

    from what i see it is exactly the same principle and similar skipper hand movement as a catamaran jet driving boat(ctv).with the wheel you control the bow and with the thrusters control the power.side movement you split the thrusters and counter balance .

    Hi love your videos. a question about the controls. you obviously set the 2 engines rpm by the strips of 2 switches but does the wheel turn the boat around the Z-axis or just move it directly port and starboard. the two pitch controls are they just forward and reverse thrust on the port and starboard drive units? Thanks ben

    • @ShippingHarbors
      @ShippingHarbors  Před 8 lety +2

      +Ben Connell The wheel pushes the bow to port/starboard because the propellers are mounted in the front of the tug. The two pitch controls are forward/reverse indeed ;)

    Is there a seperate throttle to the hand controls because even when fully back the engine will go to idle

    • @juliuseskola1281
      @juliuseskola1281 Před 2 lety +1

      Not fully to idle, but you see those buttons which control the current power level.

    why you pushing on the bulbous bow isn't that dangerous

    • @NovaNinja_
      @NovaNinja_ Před 2 lety +1

      5 years late but it's not dangerous. The ship is designed to be pushed by tugs and the tugs have tires or rubber pads mounted all the way around them as cushions

    How is the winch controlled?

    • @NovaNinja_
      @NovaNinja_ Před 2 lety

      They have crew on deck manning the winch. They are visible in some of his videos but I believe they are edited out of most videos for privacy.

      @@NovaNinja_ Specially during tug operation Winch-Crew is for sure not on rear deck cause if the steel rope break ,, it would not be a recommended place there.. !!
