This bowl of Pico de Gallo is so dang good it’ll have you crowing like a rooster 🐔🗣️
Back in the day I used to make the pico for our family barbecues. My grandma used to tell me it was the best recipe she ever had. So good in fact, that there would have to be TWO whole bowls because I would eat an entire on myself 🤣
In this video I’m gonna share the authentic, restaurants style and homemade recipe we use for our favorite snack and condiment - PICO DE GALLO!
My personal pro tip here is to use SERRANOS instead of jalapeños to take the heat up a few notches. And the best part of this recipe is you can adjust all the ingredients to you personal preferences.
You can add more tomato, less onion, double the chile or omit the cilantro - whatever you and your friends and family like, it can be done easily in this delicious recipe.
    Ingredients
    9 Roma Tomatos
    1/2 White Onion
3 Whole Serranos (or Jalapeños for less heat)
    1 Head of Cilantro (chopped)
    1 Large Lime
    2 tsp Sea Salt
And your favorite bag of chips
Take the heat up even more using my SALSA VERDE recipe:

about 20 years ago, i used to go to this wonderful Mexican fast food diner, they made the most awesome Pico De Gallo, and they would laugh at me because i would eat that stuff alone by the spoonfull, and were so nice and would always give me a monster sized cup of it to take home with me for free!! Such great memories, they are still there too! Thank you for showing me how to make it, however I have to stick to Jalapeno peppers ha ha

I appreciate that you aren’t so strict with recipes, a lot of people will say you absolutely have to use cilantro and it has to be lime not lemon, but you always encourage people to make dishes however they like regardless of whether it stays true to the authentic recipe while still sharing the knowledge of what is authentic, that’s the mark of a true chef, someone who acknowledges that people have different tastes and that experimentation is what leads to new dishes.

Just made a batch based on your recipe, and I have to say YUM! Up here in the mountains of appalachia there are several cows and goats curious as to where the new rooster went after my first taste, and will be making a lot more. Thanks for the informative nd entertaining video, keep em coming!

I made this tonight, I have my own recipe I usually make once a week, but this one is killer good. Oh yeah, this recipe is quite picante, but since Arnie uses more salt than I normally would, I can taste the huge improvement all the way around. I love the flowery taste of the serrano's too! Maravilloso!!!

I love pico. Thank you so much for the entertaining recipe. I was told once the secret is to mix the lime juice with the onions and let it sit while I chopped up everything else. It’s great, too. I’m like you. I could eat a whole bowl myself with or without chips. 😄

Oh yeah-I love some pico de gallo! One restaurant I used to frequent automatically brought it to me-I didn't even have to order it! Most of the time they didn't even charge me for it. I have made it in a very similar fashion, but this video (thank you Arnie!) gives me some ideas to tweak it up a notch!

Excellent "beak of the rooster" recipe (7:22). From a guero who lived in Tucson and now lives in New England, I miss the Sonoran cuisine. Every summer I make a few gazpacho sopas and salsa fresca, if you can't find it make it.

Omg im craving this! There is this one restaurant that I REALLY love their pico and I think yours might taste like it! Their cuts are very uniform and it is a little saltier than other picos ive tried (which i like bc it really brings out the flavor) and yours looks like it would taste exactly like it!! I am excited to try this one day!
