Biking from our house to a 10,000ft mountain | A failed bikepacking adventure w/ a happy ending

- We planned a bikepacking adventure in hopes to ride our bikes from our house to a mountain that we’ve always wondered about. So with snowboards, backpacking gear, camera gear, and 3 days worth of food secured to our bikes - we set off - riding straight from our front door to the top of Raymond Peak (or at least... that was the plan). It didn’t go at all how we expected but it was still a fun time spent outside. Now we're looking forward to spring! Enjoy :)

Sometimes you fail miserably but you still gotta make the video 😅 - thanks for being here everyone! So stoked to get back to climbing and backpacking and warm weather activities here soon. Don't forget to subscribe 🙌🏼🙏🏼
Every time I head home from college, Raymond Peak captivates me. Even more so in the winter with the dramatic contrast of the rock and snow, elevated by its prominence. It’s been on my summit list for a while now
Apparently it's still on our list too LOL. One day...
As always, I love your storytelling!!✨
And also is not easy to create a good story when things don't go as planned, so great job with that!! Thanks for sharing guys!♥
Thank YOU for always watching
'Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.' always got that Beckett quote when this happens. #happygravel
The best adventures begin from the doorstep.. great video . And definitely redemption😊
Happy springtime! Excited for the sunshine adventures ahead
So stoked!! Life is finally getting back to normal
Epic! Wish I was confident being outdoors would love to hang out with a crew like you guys. Keep living the life !
Start small and build up! We'll take you out 🙌🏼

Now that's a true adventure!
even a failed bike backpack, you still delivered a banger! just happy to see contents from you brother :)
Love it guys ! Can’t wait to find my person and do these types of adventures ❤️
Its fun seeing home in your videos! 🤙🏼
A great place to live!
Thanks for also sharing the fails! It is just so nice watching you two being outside just being real not trying to fake an epic story. Not being able to control everything is a big part of being out in nature, especially in winter. I just went on my first cross-country ski tour and really trained a lot for it. There was a storm just before I arrived and the snow was completely wind hammered which made the downhill parts super difficult, especially with a 20kg backpack. And just like you, I am totally ready for spring and summer and lots of fun activities in the mountains :)
Sometimes these things don't go as planned. 😅 We're just trying to show all of it. Would have liked to make it this epic adventure but that's not what happened... And I hear ya - snow adventures tend to be a lot more difficult. Spring should be full of great stories and films though 🌞
Love your grit and story thank you!
Thanks for being here! Subscribe for more 🙌🏼🙌🏼
You two are forever inspiring. 🙌
🙏🏼🙏🏼 thanks so much. Super excited for spring and summer adventures!
Amazing video! Can’t wait for the spring/ summer vids this year!
Sooooo stoked!!! Warm weather gives me life!
So many good things here guys (as always)! I learned what a Split Board is. Thats pretty awesome. Like a transformer for your feet! Your drone shots and establishing shots were incredible (as always)! And you took something that was disappointing and made somethings great out of it. Lots of great life lessons here. Thank you!
Ha thanks a ton. Flying the drone one handed while riding a bike needs a little more practice but it worked 😅
The storytelling is the best. Really lovely. You should do a behind the scenes on how you create/approach such a video. And you guys live in an amazingly beautiful area for sure ❤️
We actually have some behind the scenes ideas in the works... Hopefully coming this spring / summer
@@codyandvictoria You two really rock at storytelling. You’re mastering it perfectly so looking forward to that 😉😊 I mean, where is the time that it was just Cody and quiet Victoria 😉
Great little story and beautiful footage and colors as always
♥️
gorgeous work as always
🙏🏼
"I will say there is something to be said about riding bikes". Can't wait to hear it! Haha, all in jest.
I love trying these random adventures that just pop into your head. Did something similar with a friend and biked 55mi roundtrip from our houses and up 6k feet to summit a nearby peak. The next weekend we linked up two different peaks via game trails (18mi/6k ft hike) and used our stashed bikes to ride 6mi back to the truck. Destroyed my knees but it was worth the experience!
There's something. Not sure what it is but it's something 😅
Gotta love a good spontaneous adventure though. I think we ended up riding almost 40 miles this day by the time we got back to the house lol. My ass still hurts haha! Looking forward to the next one.
That was freaking awesome. 🔥🔥🔥
Really?
@@whitneytreeservicevt I’ve done many things on my adventures, but hiking up a mountain, then skiing down it is not one of them. So, yes. Yes it was.
Ha I appreciate you! 🙏🏼
I laughed so hard 😆 but yep! Nothing is guaranteed
Some people really live in Paradise 😍🤌
We really do. Love it here !
Color looks sick!
🙏🏼🙏🏼
always look forward to your guys videos! watching from aus :)
We appreciate you 🙏🏼 thanks for watching!
That bike trip is comical ha ha lol I respect it though it's totally something I would do
🤦🏼♂️ oops lol.
Living here in gardnerville I've always wanted to do the Tahoe rim trail
Us too! But it's quite the commitment 😅
@codyandvictoria yeah I used to take this place for granted but now that I'm more into the outdoors I never payed attention to how big our backyard is
That burger looks so good!!
🍔🍟
I would call that redemption, nice bike ride though. We had a week of glorious false spring, now its snowing again, typical.Love that view above the lakes😊
Snowing again for us too 😭
I'm in sparks.
nice color grading 😎 love the Tahoe videos.. I haven't been there since I was in high school!
You've gotta come visit!
You guys have knack for making every adventure miserable 😂❤
We should really start planning trips that are more enjoyable!😅
Good job for trying something new!!! ❤ it doesn’t always goes as planned. It’s about the journey and not the destination right? 😊 I know it doesn’t feel like that though when you have to bail
Ha it was honestly really fun! Sucks bailing (especially when it's your job to make cool videos) but we had a good time anyways. Now we have an excuse to try another bike trip
Zoe & Kelby are the best!!
They're awesome! So glad we were able to connect with them through social😊
he do be hangry when he don’t eat lol
Ya boy gotta eat 🤣
Y’all missed out on hella lines turning around the first time.. the zones back there are dope.
Gonna need a proper redemption trip!
Sucks when plans don't pan out, but glad you still got a tour in... There's also just something about the last run of a season
Well to be fair... Second winter is hitting Tahoe right now so we'll see. Might have to head to the desert 😅
@@codyandvictoria True! I live in the Canadian Rockies and it was a pretty crazy few days, went from +15C to a foot of snow... I'm just really looking forward to 4th spring at this point lol
hell yeah Victoria we're Coal hat twins
I stole it from Cody😅
What gravel roads is that off of markleeville?
This is a great video! Love the self shot videos and Bikepacking content!
Much appreciated. Got a few more bike trips in the works for the spring season 👀 Stoked for a longer trip!
I never get tired of those views from above Emerald Bay!!!
Never gets old♥️
I swear bikepacking missions always have a way of not going to plan 😅 great concept though!
Haha mannnn I couldn't believe there was no snow... Gonna have to get redemption on this one sometime.
Victoria can I ask where your sunglasses are from? They look great for the outdoors
Looks like living a dream :O ! By the way, what microphone do you use for the voiceover? So smoooooth !! :) Thx
Zoom H4N
The color on this film looked impeccably good. Was this shot with a Sony? S-log?
Slog3!!
The color grade somehow gets better with every video!
I spend a lot of time just messing with color so I tried a few new things in this one 🌈
I would've stopped for a couple beers at cutthroat on the way back 🍻
If it wasn't getting dark we definitely would have!
So good! But how come you guys didn't run up from Ebbet's?
I also have so much more stuff for us to go ride on snow!
also also. The last clip you can see my entire last adventure
I have no idea. This way just made sense looking at the map 😅
Victoria can I ask where your sunglasses are from?
Wo whats that area called looks amazing.
This is in and around the Carson Valley and Markleeville area.
@@codyandvictoria cheers thanks
What are the green riding pants you guys are wearing? I need some tight riding pants like that. They look
Comfy!
Cody is wearing Kuhl joggers and Victoria is wearing Mountain Hardware Dynama (?). We'll have a gear video coming this spring with all of our favorites!
Did yall have energy like this all the time or did you have to build up to being completely active? Just curious because im in the process of changing my life and want to be more active. Im neurodivergent so im completely learning to reparenting myself in a more healthy way and im trying to delve into new activities and I love the activities yall do. ❤
To be honest, we've always been "athletic" but it's only been 6 years of us doing the fun outdoor things that you see in our videos now. I will say, as we get older, I can see it becoming easier to not be as active and just chill. But when we rest for too long, my body starts to get antsy and achey. So mentally, I just know that it's best to just keep moving, even if I don't want to!
It's hard to get started but once you get going, getting outside or just exercising becomes addicting and something that your body and mind craves!! You got this and more importantly, just have fun with it because when it's fun it's not a chore! Good luck🤘
-V
@@codyandvictoria that’s amazing discipline though. Something I definitely struggle with but am trying to be more mindful and aware of what my body needs rather than suppressing it like I had to..to mask in society.
I appreciate the encouragement and always feel that when I watch your channel :) thanks for inspiring me to move ♥️
hi love birds
Hey 👋🏼 lol
Promo'SM 🤗
Love everything about what you're doing and you seem like great people. I stopped watching because I couldn't hear one more complaint or more whining in place of commentary. Took the fun out of it. Great footage, though. Hope you learn to love your adventures together.
We can always tell the videos are performing well when comments like this start to come out. Thanks for checking it out at least. Fwiw we love what we do and had a good time doing it and everyone else seems to notice that.
@@codyandvictoria you can take it personally or you can realize that many outdoors people, such as myself, know we're going out there because it's hard which is a big part of the fun. But why talk if it's all whining? Good luck to you. I'm glad you're so confident.
