Just so you know: E has several shadow applications that check the affected targets for new W stacks (within about 0.5 second) and pops them again.
If you pop E on a target with 3 stacks, the 4th auto will have its stack instantly consumed for more %health damage.
[Source: Am a Varus 1-trick for 11 years, but also it's in his original champion spotlight from season 2, Kappa]
The optimal combo is A, A, A-R; A [R builds a stack], E [R builds a stack during animation], A [4th stack popped by E's shadow proc], [R builds its third stack], A, A, W-Q.
Aside: (During Rageblade meta back in season 7(ish?), Varus had a mechanic where E could pop 5+ stacks depending on how fast you autoed and when your phantom hit proc'd. I assume this still works. It's not something you "try for" though, it's just hidden damage you just kinda get.)

The bursty builds are always fun to watch. I'd love to see MS Anivia with a lich bane. The item has the same cool down as her E so it will always proc when you auto after your combo. Luden's/cosmic's MS boosts helps you get in and out, too

surprised you didn't do this on the PBE, i think with the new stormsurge and shadowflame i think the one-shot burst will be even stronger
PBE reverted back to mythic items so they can test Hwei with mythics. PBE should be back next week tough with the new S14 items .

I can't believe how long this build has gone without being completely gutted. It's so blatantly overpowered. Like just at 500 AP you're looking at 54.75% max HP + 21% of the resultant HP after that hit when popping active blight off of a fully stacked Q. I don't know *why* they made it so the blight stacks do 50% more damage when Q is fully charged as it would already be powerful anyway, but it does.
But usually that also follows after a 1:1 AP ratio nuke on his ult. Add his passive and his W on-hit with Nashor's and like...why would you ever go AD Varus?
Edit: Also, we got a perfect demonstration of how to aim a skillshot from Zwag at 3:36. If you notice, he puts the center line right between her feet since characters that don't float above ground have their hitboxes drawn around their feet. LoL is a 2D game. The bodies, heads, whatever don't matter, they're all just ovals on a flat plane at the end of the day.

I play ap varus a ton. 2.8 Mil Mastery here. There is nothing like one shoting a tham with 5.3k HP, 6 times in one game and finishing the game by standing still, auto attacking him 3 times, emot to assert dominance, get eaten by him, slurped out just to tap point blank q and see him get deleted in less then one frame...and the cherry on top has to be
- (Tham Kench): 5.4K Arrows...so freaking fair....what a fucking spaghetti code of rito engineering.

Correct varus combo would be:
3AA + E + R + 1/2AA + QW
Or
R + 1AA + QW + 3AA + E
surely zwag tries assassin wukong, q bonks for over half health
I think the stacks only get detonated by basic abilities?
So the combo 3 aa into ult does not do the most damage, it should be like
3 aa - e - ult (which builds up another 3 stacks over root duration) - wq.
Or am i wrong?
