  • Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Cycle 2 midshipmen candidates obtain their third-class swim qualification during New Student Indoctrination at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command (RTC), on board Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill., July 13.
    The third-class swim qualification ensures they have mastered essential water survival skills. This includes swimming confidently in various strokes, treading water, and performing underwater maneuvers.
    NROTC is under the leadership of Commander, Naval Service Training Command (NSTC), Rear Adm. Craig Mattingly. NSTC supports 98% of enlisted and officer initial accessions training, including: RTC; NROTC at 160+ colleges and universities; and Officer Training Command in Newport, R.I.
