Nice video. Reggie you are absolutely correct and i enjoy every bit of your video. This comparisons is very precise.
    To me the PROS:
I love the vignetting its obvious for me that in post i vignette it so it dont bother me. That is a positive for me.
Coming to sharpness 23 mm in crop sensor is more or less 35 mm. (For landscape i used 18 mm and below)So that is a portrait lens in my opinion. SO i like the sharpness in the center and don't care the corners in portrait.
Bokeh is nor a problem they are almost the same in a common eyes.
Auto focus i dont need that much as i do mostly manual.
CONS: Cost is the factor but you cant beat a native lens. I shoot portraits in evening mostly in open when the sun is in its golden hours. Here is a battle of flares and lenses. The Viltrox is a competing lens while the Fujinon defends its place successfully. There the Viltrox is very poor. I am a post guy but could not get better with that photos from the viltrox.
Chromatic aberrations are the thing of past for me to speak but this viltrox brought it back home. High end lenses got it too but negligible that is why nobody talk too much anymore. But i found very pronounce here shooting in a clear backgrounds in the open.
Cost is a factor. This is a place called "you get what you pay for".
In general the viltrox is equally a premium lens if you used in a sufficiently lit environment like indoors or studio where light are controlled. It is difficult to differentiate between the two. I used it with Godox 200pro and very happy with it.If photos are manually focused it is tact sharp. Once you nailed it you got a big smile. The only downside i got with this lens is that it cant take flares. That's most of it.
Edit: Purple fringe i forgot. Purple fringes should not be a problem to any photographers as it is very very easy to correct in post. These days its not even a topic anymore.
( I rent the fuji from a friend to compare with the viltrox i got from the Amazon.)

Think I'm going to sell my 35mm Fuji and hang on to my 56 1.2 until the Viltrox 56 to compare it to and decide whether to keep the 1.2 or switch to a faster focussing 1.4, which I desperately need.

I would say that it deserves to be even more emphasized that the Viltrox is dirt cheap and has a great build which wasn't mentioned. I know you were looking more at IQ than anything, but the price of the Viltrox alone is mindblowing considering that Fuji is still charging south of $1K for their lens. At $300~, the Viltrox is neck and neck with the Fuji in many aspects and above in others (better center sharpness, metal lens hood, update-able firmware, etc). I don't think the Fuji is a recommended buy for any non-professional because of this. But I get it, for pros, yeah, you might want the Fuji due to all the things you mentioned.

I have the Viltrox 23 1.4 and Fuji 23 f2. I need fast AF for video, I have to say both lens work great for fast AF, however... The Fuji f2 can do smooth pulls between subjects and Viltrox is just fast fast fast, even after playing with the settings. When you try to make Viltrox focus slow, it doesn't work very smoothly. It is a great lens though for the money and I plan on keeping both, Fuji f2 for small outdoor and everyday carry, Viltrox for low light or extra bokeh. For photography AF the Viltrox it's very fast and sufficient and I like the Fuji as well. The big difference is if you going for smooth video AF.

Did you find that the Fuji has so much better details than the Viltrox? It seems to me on your photos that the Viltrox was already burn out totally at the highlights while the XF still had quite good details. I can see that this Viltrox is the newer STM version. I only tried the older version, and the lack of detail was so bad for my eyes that this was the reason why I sold those lens.

Excellent review, though I wish you'd had more time to actually work with the glass to determine its more intimate eccentricities.
I ordered the 33mm f/1.4 since I don't have a prime "nifty fifty". Ken Wheeler offered an interesting review on various chromatic aberrations inherent in the way the viltrox glass is manufactured (as I understand it, a very similar process to the Zeiss glass). That said, it seems like the Viltrox glass is a solid hybrid lens for both photography and video - particularly in as much that any chromatic aberrations can be corrected with a little extra post-production work - everything is a trade off.
Very happy the third-party glass is available. Eventually, once I get my light setup where I want it, I'm certain I'll pick up the 23mm as well.

It has to be wondered when one lens is 60% less expensive than the other. I know shooters who have owned their fuji 23 F1.4 since release, had it in the rain, dropped it and its still going strong...maybe viltrox can perform the same, maybe not. Time will tell.
