How To Make The Perfect Whiskey Sour | Booze On The Rocks

  • Today on Booze On The Rocks, we make the Whiskey Sour with egg white. You can find the original version of a Whiskey Sour in the 1862 Bartenders Guide by Jerry Thomas. But the egg white variation that we know emerged in the 1890s, and many variations, such as the New York Sour, Jersey Sour, and Dizzy Sour, became quite popular. The Whiskey Sour contains a near-perfect combination of citrus, sweet, and bourbon flavors with a fantastic smooth texture due to the addition of egg whites. Try it out and let me know what you think.

David this is one of my favourite cocktails! I made a couple for my husband and me this week with Colonel E.H. Taylor for a treat and it was outstanding! We use the egg white. For bourbon in this delicious cocktail we often use Four Roses, Bulleit, Woodford Reserve and Barrell Bourbon Cask strength (so amazing David!!) - lovely bourbons. Barrell can take some hunting down and most likely from a private spirit store. I have made the whiskey sour with chick pea juice but I love it with egg white. This is a must have when visiting Ireland - very popular with Irish whiskey or bourbon!! Awesome video as always!! Hope you are well! Cheers!! 🙂

Good video on how to make Whiskey Sour. For egg white i'm using Super Syrup (sugar, xantham gum, arabic gum, methylcellulose ) same foam, same taste, actually better smell, as it don't have egg white specific "vet dog" smell

Hi David, I have made this a couple of times in the last 3 years. But it is not my goto drink. That was a Right Hand Twist, but now is a Negroni, made with 50ml apiece of Malfy grapefruit forward gin, Carpano Antica Formula sweet vermouth and Campari, stirred with ice, orange oils over with it served on a rock in a double old fashioned.

I feel like this was the first cocktail where I realized that quality cocktails exist... A lot of people would tell me to get whiskey sours when I first started drinking, from a sour mix? I didn't care for it, but then when I had it made right (like this video), I realized, I should always be looking for something better quality...
