- I purchased this boat which had some hull damage. It was letting water in, I didn't have the heart to sell it and screw over the next person. So, I decided to fix it myself properly. Very happy with the way it turned out. Not a single drop of water enters the hull.
I must say the Grady came out way better than i thought it would The fiberglassing skills appear to be awesome ! I grew up in Florida and years ago taking on a project of that nature due to the labor and cost of materials did not prove to be the wisest of choices I'm aware now there are companies in Florida that rehab the older hulls full time as a business for profit and apparently they can provide customers finance options on the hulls and the labor to make them look new and restored
That mercury is a beautiful motor, I have a 65 horse 4 cylinder
I glassed for 20 years..your work looks good. Well done...easier if you take the gunnel rubber of first though.🤙
Haha thoroughly enjoyed it mate. Loved the music too, I’ve and easy to listen to.
You’ve inspired someone in the Bronx of Ipswich
Nice, thanks mate. I hope you enjoy your project. All the best.
Not bad for a Lebo who grew up in Reservoir.... LOL... love it!
Good first go, mate.
Like it was parked in Broadmeadows! LOL... classic.
Admire your perseverance. That was a lot of hard work. Boat looks great!
Thanks so much, Randy. Hope you have an awesome week.

Ready for the bay
GOOD JOB! LOOKS GREAT. I MAY TRY TO TACKLE RESTORING A BOAT NEXT SUMMER..THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.
KEN WALZ Thanks so much for your message. all the best with your project.
Wow that looks amazing could not have done it better myself
Thanks so much mate. I've never worked on boats in my life. CZcams was a great help. have a great day.
And I grew up in Broady...can't argue there....
Haha. Thanks for the tip. I can't wait for my next project. Thanks for commenting. Have a great day mate.
Looks awesome! Doing the same on a 1989 Quintrex Fishraider at the moment.
JGWacko Cheers mate. Nice work, I wish I could work with Aluminium and other metals. I remember welding back at trade school. I sucked real bad at it haha. I look forward to seeing your video. Hopefully. Enjoy your project. It's so much fun. All the best mate.
Came up good mate. The full thickness holes in your hull need to be glassed from the inside as well, I'm not being negative but the ocean is a unforgiving inviroment and no short cuts can be taken.
I didn't know you have to do that. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to do it properly next time. I never take shortcuts. I like to do the job right first time. Some spots were very hard to get to from the inside. She's still floating around in the water somewhere lol.
Awsome job!
Cheers, Ken.
I had a Grady White with same type of faux wood blanking. Never again! Only smooth sides from now on.
I never really understood why they wanted to imitate an outdated, wooden hull.
Same here with a StarCraft.
Check the Transom...I bet it is rotten. Just sayin.
40cleco Yeah, it was a little.
Great job brother 👊🏽
I am Todd Thanks so much mate ✌
This looks very much like my "Red Lady" that I did. She was a 16 ft Fiberform. One key difference was that the glass was in great condition. Everything else, needed to be gutted &/or replaced. Otherwise, nice job!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. It was so much fun working on it. Looking forward to my next project. Have a great 2018 mate.
Just so you are aware, that fiberglass was just thin and worn. Fiberglass does not rot but can dry or become damaged by UV rays from the sun, it seems in the rub rails area that it was thin by design and had seen much wear and flexing over time. But great job and great project. Where was this project located?
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, that's correct. I learnt the hard/long way. This project was done in Melbourne Australia. Thanks, brother.
With so many water entry points I'm quite surprised it didn't need rotten stringer replacements
It probably did
That's fuckin' awesome man! Came out perfect!
Tylnorton Thanks brother. Really appreciated.
great work well done
peter nelson Thanks so much Peter. Really appreciate it mate.
Wow that was an amazing transformation , currently doing it myself had to replace the transom and remove all the paint and repaint it , its alot of work but its nice at same time
PulzeGaming Thanks mate. That's awesome to see. It is a lot of work, but man... it's so much fun. I wouldn't mind turning this into a full time hobby. Loved every second of it. All the best.
TheIbi1983 haha yeah id love to do to it as a job but being beginner it has my head wreaked at some stages haha, I nearly have transom done just need to take off paint on hull and paint it in few months when its warmer, making new trailer and all
Yeah, I know what you mean. It can be a head f##k at times. Hang on there mate. Enjoy the journey. When you see it all done at the end, it's all worth it. Hope you're making a video? Would love to see your project.
TheIbi1983 haha yeah the end goal will be great and no video haha but been taking pictures every step :)
PulzeGaming where are you from? If you don't mind me asking?
wow awesome work man.
Jeremiah Jarvis Thanks so much for your message. Really appreciate it.
good job!
Cheers mate!

@@mmf2988 Good luck, brother. Hope it comes out amazing.
@@TheIbi1983 thank you! might not look as good as yours but ill do my best but no idea what kind of boat it is tho haha so it's gunna be hard to find parts for it! can't find the HIN anywhere
I've heard Ferntree Gully called a lot of things....but beautiful ain't one of them!😆
She come up mint bro👌
Thanks bro 👍
@@TheIbi1983 ill see you out on the water spearfishing or boat fishing i go out around frankston all the way down to rosebud and flinders
@@Hazardbone Do you spearfish as well? That's awesome dude. Hope to catch you in the water one day.
@@TheIbi1983 yeah man im still a noob but i got about 30 fish so far on a spear in about 6 months of taking up the activity. As for boat fishing ive been doing that for over 10 years and i swear ive caught more in 6 months on a spear than i have on the boat😂
@@Hazardbone that's me 100% bro. Never again fishing with rod and reel lol. Either in the water or in bed. People invite me to go fishing all the time. They sit on the pier and I go swimming. I bag out early they're still getting nibbles lol
That is professinol
Great project but the music blows.
Do u use the warmies boatramp in williamstown i sware i seen ya b4
I have in the past. Last time was about 12 months ago though. I used Altona mainly. But haven't had a boat on a year or so. Would love to buy another one. Or at least a Jet Ski.
Tower of power
good job
conner pennington Thanks mate.
Is the boat still running did the patches last?
Back in the day my old man had one ...16ft..absolutely shit in a following sea...talk about list.
MRG Yeah, my first boat was an old Balboy (excuse the spealling) It rode better than this. I feel like these boats are a little off in ballance.
What about a re power? Got any plans to do it soon if you haven't done it already? Good job by the way.
thanks mate. no plans on power. looking at selling it now. want a bigger boat.
Nice Job Subbed
Thanks mate 🖒
Did the engine work?
Yes, it worked fine.
what size boat is that and how long did it take you
It was a 4.4m boat and took me about 2 weeks.
how long did it take
About a week.
@@TheIbi1983 to good thinking of doing the same to my boat
@@billytepuni2312 Go for it. It's so much fun brother.
Great project. Had to hit the mute button immediately though. Sounds like a brothel.
Andre Marais Haha. Yeah sorry, I didn't know how to add music to my videos. Now I do though (thank God) Thanks for the comment mate. Cheers.
Andre; We will have to take your word for it though haha
I did same thing.
Just put the jacks and flatten the tyres
What brand of boat is that?
simedogz It's a nautiglass runabout 1988 model.
WHATS A LEBO ???????
A Lebo is a Lebanese Bloke lol
@@TheIbi1983 oòooo I see
Turned out great, I wish you would back off on the camera shots, you were way too close about 80% of the time for me. I prefer an overall view more so then in my face up close shots and you pan way too fast as well but maybe that's just me but I found it hard to watch most of your video.
Yeah, this was the very first video I had ever made. I'm a lot better now. Sorry...
@@TheIbi1983 I didn't realize how old this was lol. I see now it was 2016, its been a minute.
To properly refinish a fiberglass boat, paint won't cut it; you need to gel coat it. Looks OK now but the paint job won't last.
Yes, I agree. Nothing like Gelcoat. Definitely the best way to paint a boat. Toplac is what I used, it has a finish agent that works similar to Gelcoat. I've sold the boat just a few weeks later. Not sure how it's keeping up. Thanks for the comment.
mute is a must.
