  • On todays video I take a look at some possible causes to a floppy gear shift on my EG Hatch. After a long time of having a loose shifter I finally decided to try and fix it (sorta....lol). It actually turned out quite well so if you are interested in doing what I did I would definitely recommend this as the first step you take to fixing a loose shifter.

For the other shift knob you can thread a nut on there first and adjust it so that the shift knob will stop in the exact position that you want it. Once you find the sweet spot just hold the knob in position with one hand and with the other tighten the nut against the bottom of the shift knob with a wrench and it won’t move. But the dragon ball is cool too haha

Im not sure about the cupholder. I have a JDM center console that goes over where the cupholders would go. But the arm rest is a MUST!! I think you could probably pull one from the 92-95 sedans for the right fitment. The armrest i have i think is from an integra so it doesn’t fit perfectly

Did you end up fixing that other problem with the bellow cover?

Wow your shifter is very loose. If you want to tighten up the shifter you can also replace the Detent springs and shifter spring on the transmission. Speedfactory makes them and so does Hybrid racing. Innovative makes a replacement Shift Linkage joint for 92-00 Civic / 90-01 Integra also that looks like a stock shifter Joint. There is also a part called a Precision Works Shifter Pin Lock that replaces that shifter joint and makes the shifter feel really solid.

@Shreddylife yeahh the damn thing isnt perfect… ill definitely write those down so i can replace them in the future when i FINALLLY decide to get my transmission fixed!😅 id rather do that all at once and finally have 2nd gear AND a decent shift linkage👌😂

@@projectgoodspeed The Detent and shifter springs are very easy to replace. There are a bunch of how to videos online. The transmission is not going into 2nd gear huh? Is it making noise too? Maybe time to replace it or learn how to rebuild the one you have. The D series transmissions are pretty simple to work on

@Shreddylife yeahh i picked up an extra one but not sure of its condition either. I believe the issue is with the forks inside cause ive had an issue of them breaking before soo most likely happened again. Ill proly end up examining the inside just for funs cause i really have no experience with transmission work BUT it gives me something to do!👍

@@projectgoodspeed Right on. I've never had issues with the shift forks. Only bearings. The input shaft bearing likes to go out in these transmissions over time and they become very loud. The good thing is it's only a $40 part and you do not need any special tools to remove and install a new one. Lmk if you have any questions if you end up tearing into your spare one to inspect it.

@Shreddylife yeahh ive taken it to a shop to get the synchros replaced but it turns out the issue was my shift fork shattered and was rollin around in there in pieces soo im not sure how they fixed it or even if they did but here we are now! Lmaoo still no 2nd gear! One of these days il get started on it… if i stop being soo lazy 😅
