Aw, Stacey! She changed so much between the end of her S Club Juniors/S Club 8 days (around 2004) and here, yet from 2009 till now she's barely changed at all! I think she's much better than this, but she still did a good job and it's so good to see her here, even though it was already 8 years ago now!

They ended up picking 9 and it was so well received that S Club Juniors got to officially become their own group with their own songs. They opened for SC7 on tour in 2002 and then continued to have a successful career on their own, following in SC7's footsteps. One of the kids left early on to pursue acting, but the other 8 (aged 11-14) stayed on. When SC7 split in 2003, SCJ kept going for another year. They were then 13-16 and changed names to S Club 8. Stacey McClean was one of the Juniors and in my opinion the best singer in the group, and one of the group's 2 best dancers. She was in this video as she auditioned for the X Factor in 2009 at age 20 :)
Here's a tip for any would be singer: sing your best song into a recorder and then play it back. You'll know within a shadow of a doubt that you're either a good singer or you're completely tone deaf and should move on to another career choice. It does tell you quite well if you're a good singer. Most of us aren't, but sing on anyway! *But only when you're alone in your shower.*
What I hate about shows of this ilk is that they think they can just create some kind of chokehold/monopoly on the industry and as such people like Simon Cowell behave as though they are the gatekeepers to the music industry. Such vile huge egos.
Sure they have... but there is a disconnect. It's tone-deaf like... not something easy to understand if you have even basic discernment as to what's good v rubbish. The psychology of thinking you are world-class when in fact you are crap is what makes these shows so fascinating...

I'd like to see 4 judges who are regular people, who get to see an audition from the same people, seperate of what the celebrity judges see, and see if regular people are more or less critical
It would be an interesting experiment. But overall the experts' opinion has to prevail, as apparently there are many people (e.g. several tone deaf contestants' parents and fans) who say "very good" to embarassingly bad auditions.
Yeah the average person (myself included) can't tell the difference in keys, pitch, tone, etc unless maybe they are singers themselves. I see what you're saying, though. They would probably try to be nice. But tbh the judges from around this time and on were fairly nice...not as bad as early ai and x factor lol.
They dont talk about music. All they talk first of all is about how they want to be famous and earn lots of money. Then only it comes a little bit about how they love music. No surprise they all chirp horribly, with horrible voices
