I wouldn't say LOVEBITES is being underrated, more so people don't know they exist. People like sticking to what they know and don't ever explore outside their music bubble unless an outside influence shows it to them.

With this genre of music, it's common that you can't really hear the lyrics clearly. For example, I'll listen to Rob Halford from Judas Priest and I can't understand what he's singing 90% of the time. Having said that, he is a phenomenal vocalist just like Asami. Treat their vocals as another instrument. BTW, the other members of the band sing in some songs. I've been listening to metal for 5 decades - Slayer, Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Testament, Anthrax, etc. and all are awesome, but sometimes they miss with a track or even an album. I have some favorites with Lovebites, but they just don't miss overall - they don't have any songs I would not listen to over & over. They are just incredible. If they played in the 80's/90's they would likley be considered 1 of the top 3-4 metal bands of all time (I believe they are the best). Lovebites could cover anything those bands put out, but I would love to see them try to cover a Lovebites track. SMH
For me Lovebites are the Metal Queens. They leaped over Iron Maiden as my favorite band. I'd like to have them open for Iron Maiden in Japan and open for some well known band in the United States, be it Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest or the like. You will find many influences in this band, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Testament, Slayer, Helloween, etc along with a lot of classical influences thanks to Miyako (classically trained pianist) who writes, arranges and composes a lot of the music for the group, Asami/vocals writes most of the lyrics. You will often find numerous influences in each song along with mostly positive messages. Despite being petite and wearing their femininity proudly, in heels and gowns they turn into metal goddesses on stage when they perform. Their new world tour this year will likely bring in many new fans to the Wolfpack (fanbase) before they are done.

What's even more incredible is M & M's guitar tones are both pretty dry. There's not a lot of effects underneath that can hide mistakes, and they still can play fast flawless leads. Just listen to Midori's constant pre-chorus and chorus leads that go straight into the solos. She barely has a break during the whole song and its still all clean to the last note.
although a lot of their lyrics may be inspirational or upbeat - ex. 'when destinies align' , 'we the united, today is the day, glory to the world. but they also have dark and heavy lyrics depending on the song - 'break the wall , set the world on fire, holy war, and this song , etc. you can't put LOVEBITES in a particular box - they do it all

The problem with a lot of these festival gigs is that they are so far down the bill that they will be playing in the middle afternoon in the dead zone slots. They need to Tour in support of a mega band like the Warning did with Muse or, if their management don’t think that they are quite ready for large venues, I would have thought that 1500 -2500 venues ought to be easy to fill and allow them to have a similar stage show to that which they have in Japan.

Asami did sing with Halestorm at the UK download festival in 2019 singing Lovebites. Its somewhere on youtube. As for another singer its not going to happen, dream on guys! Some groups have dual singers i.e. Lacuna Coil and Слот (Slot) and personally the male counterparts are weak! Christina Scabbia and Nookie have powerful voices and have no need for another vocalist! I used to take conversational English classes in russia and Ukraine and many have trouble with pronounciations as does Asami. However, I can see she works hard to negate this and she has improved over the last two years! So, stop with airy fairy nonsense 😎🤟

Yes, they should fill stadiums, absolutely. On the other hand I enjoy belonging to the few chosen ones who know Lovebites. These world-class musicians have not one weak song. They are a singularity in music history. Not everybody can appreciate so much -talent- mastery.
Brilliant and great reaction. I don't mind you pause in the middle of even the guitar solo in your case. I don't think Asami's accent held them back. The most of their market is non English speaking anyway. It's, I guess, unluck. When they were taking off to the world, the virus situation ceased their activity, and the bassist left the band and it cost them another one and a half year. They came back this year. My favorite song by my favroite band. Current western metal isn't based on musicianship from the top down. I'm not saying there isn't really good music out there, but it's not close to the level of musical talent in Lovebites.
There's so much classical elements poured into this one special song.. find the phyrgian dominant at the bridge before the chorus, which you can found the same at Gates of Babylon by Rainbow, or cover version by Yngwie Malmsteen.. and also we can found Symphony X vibes at some riffs.. this is one hell of a metal song... And I don't care if Lovebites were underrated or not so very well known.. All I care is this band gives a new hope and fresh breath at metal scene for the last 3 decades... To be fair, Metallica are pioneers and have been extremely influential, so it is always a bit hard to compare them to more recent bands, but I would argue that the Lovebites members are actually better musicians overall. But no disrespect to early Metallica at least, they have written several of the greatest metal songs ever. Ride the Lightning in particular is a fantastic album.
Sorry to have to say this, but. I hear from Americans so often complaints that they 'Can't Understand The Accent', as if the whole world has to speak English with an American accent. As an Englishman, born and breed, I seem have far less problem with Asami's accent than many Americans appear to. Yes, the first couple of Lovebites songs I listened to I was not sure about the lyrics, but after following some songs with the written lyrics to hand I quickly adapted and began to hear what she was singing. It's not hard if you want to give it a chance people. English is not an easy language for native Japanese speakers. I have to say that personally I often struggle to clearly understand American accents, when watching American made films and TV programs I usually need to turn on the sub titles in order to follow what is being said. I'm reminded of something I overheard an American tourist in London say to a companion, 'Why don't these Brits stop talking with these phony accents and talk like everyone else' !

I just find that it seems to be Americans, and mostly only Americans, who complain about Asami's accent. I have watched reactions to Lovebites music videos by people from the UK, Finland, Russia, Brazil and Nigeria to name but five countries, and in none of these case's do I recall her accent being an issue. I do agree with you that many people do not appreciate the talent in this band, but the same can be said about many musicians. It is simply a sad fact that most people do not want to put in the effort required to listen and understand what heavy rock/metal is all about. But exactly the same can be said about the various classical music genres and Jazz, with which rock/metal shares much of it's structure and complexity. It is easier to just accept the simple formulaic mass produced rubbish that passes ( and for the most part always has ) for music. I applaud you for championing Lovebites and similar bands, but we have to accept that we who appreaciate such musicianship are always going to be a minority. Personally I am supporting them by buying their CD's, Blu Rays of their concerts, and am I going to their gig in London this coming June. ( a venue with a capacity of only 350, that was sold out within a couple of hours of the tickets going on sale. Someone needs to have a word with their management! I have no doubt that they could have filled a much larger venue. I hope to see the day when they fill the O2 Arena during a sell out tour of Europe )
You can use all kinds of ways too describe how very Great this band is. For Me its Fire and Class. Rarely does such a super group of virtuosity level musicians work so well together for so long(8 years). If you approach this band knowing something about music theory and Technical arrangement you realize this band is a Master Class of Professor level substance. They really have no equal and are likely the first All Female Metal band that has accomplished the heights this band is rising too. The Perfect band imo. Also the lyrics are in English or for some western folks think "Engrish". This band could had been just as big singing in Japanese for the Japan fans but decided they are a Western Influenced band and embrace the language barrier. We in the West should try too be a little more open ,tolerant and flattered that they are so willing too learn/ use our language rather than their own. I understand her English just fine btw but I also make it a point too embrace and understand Other cultures and Languages. Ymmv.

I've been listening to metal for 5 decades - Slayer, Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Testament, Anthrax, etc. and all are awesome, but sometimes they miss with a track or even an album. I have some favorites with Lovebites, but they just don't miss overall - they don't have any songs I would not listen to over & over. They are just incredible. If they played in the 80's/90's they would likley be considered 1 of the top 3-4 metal bands of all time (I believe they are the best). Lovebites could cover anything those bands put out, but I would love to see them try to cover a Lovebites track. SMH

For me Lovebites are the Metal Queens. They leaped over Iron Maiden as my favorite band. I'd like to have them open for Iron Maiden in Japan and open for some well known band in the United States, be it Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest or the like. Lovevites did tout in the UK with DragonForce. Next Thunder Vengeance [Live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020]

You will find many influences in this band, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Testament, Slayer, Helloween, etc along with a lot of classical influences thanks to Miyako (classically trained pianist) who writes, arranges and composes a lot of the music for the group, Asami/vocals writes most of the lyrics. You will often find numerous influences in each song along with mostly positive messages. Despite being petite and wearing their femininity proudly, in heels and gowns they turn into metal goddesses on stage when they perform. Their new world tour this year will likely bring in many new fans to the Wolfpack (fanbase) before they are done.

What's even more incredible is M & M's guitar tones are both pretty dry. There's not a lot of effects underneath that can hide mistakes, and they still can play fast flawless leads. Just listen to Midori's constant pre-chorus and chorus leads that go straight into the solos. She barely has a break during the whole song and its still all clean to the last note.
although a lot of their lyrics may be inspirational or upbeat - ex. 'when destinies align' , 'we the united, today is the day, glory to the world. but they also have dark and heavy lyrics depending on the song - 'break the wall , set the world on fire, holy war, and this song , etc. you can't put LOVEBITES in a particular box - they do it all

The problem with a lot of these festival gigs is that they are so far down the bill that they will be playing in the middle afternoon in the dead zone slots. They need to Tour in support of a mega band like the Warning did with Muse or, if their management don’t think that they are quite ready for large venues, I would have thought that 1500 -2500 venues ought to be easy to fill and allow them to have a similar stage show to that which they have in Japan.

Asami did sing with Halestorm at the UK download festival in 2019 singing Lovebites. Its somewhere on youtube. As for another singer its not going to happen, dream on guys! Some groups have dual singers i.e. Lacuna Coil and Слот (Slot) and personally the male counterparts are weak! Christina Scabbia and Nookie have powerful voices and have no need for another vocalist! I used to take conversational English classes in russia and Ukraine and many have trouble with pronounciations as does Asami. However, I can see she works hard to negate this and she has improved over the last two years!

Myself I am from 70s/80s period when this music was at the fore. When mentioning Metallica, I was fortunate to see them on the Master of puppets tour. Both groups starting out had at least 3 albums each in their stage of development. However, Metallica were not at Lovebites level in comparison, especially their drummer 🤣 ! Yes, they should fill stadiums, absolutely. On the other hand I enjoy belonging to the few chosen ones who know Lovebites.
These world-class musicians have not one weak song. They are a singularity in music history. Not everybody can appreciate so much -talent- mastery.
Brilliant and great reaction. I don't mind you pause in the middle of even the guitar solo in your case. I don't think Asami's accent held them back. The most of their market is non English speaking anyway. It's, I guess, unluck. When they were taking off to the world, the virus situation ceased their activity, and the bassist left the band and it cost them another one and a half year. They came back this year. It is a MV and there is a live version but I don't like its post production, the mixing.

Current western metal isn't based on musicianship from the top down. I'm not saying there isn't really good music out there, but it's not close to the level of musical talent in Lovebites.
There's so much classical elements poured into this one special song.. find the phyrgian dominant at the bridge before the chorus, which you can found the same at Gates of Babylon by Rainbow, or cover version by Yngwie Malmsteen.. and also we can found Symphony X vibes at some riffs.. this is one hell of a metal song...
And I don't care if Lovebites were underrated or not so very well known.. All I care is this band gives a new hope and fresh breath at metal scene for the last 3 decades...

To be fair, Metallica are pioneers and have been extremely influential, so it is always a bit hard to compare them to more recent bands, but I would argue that the Lovebites members are actually better musicians overall. But no disrespect to early Metallica at least, they have written several of the greatest metal songs ever. Ride the Lightning in particular is a fantastic album.

Sorry to have to say this, but. I hear from Americans so often complaints that they 'Can't Understand The Accent', as if the whole world has to speak English with an American accent. As an Englishman, born and breed, I seem have far less problem with Asami's accent than many Americans appear to. Yes, the first couple of Lovebites songs I listened to I was not sure about the lyrics, but after following some songs with the written lyrics to hand I quickly adapted and began to hear what she was singing. It's not hard if you want to give it a chance people. English is not an easy language for native Japanese speakers.
I have to say that personally I often struggle to clearly understand American accents, when watching American made films and TV programs I usually need to turn on the sub titles in order to follow what is being said. I'm reminded of something I overheard an American tourist in London say to a companion, 'Why don't these Brits stop talking with these phony accents and talk like everyone else' !
I hope you're not saying we think that. I was saying I think it hurts the band because people are exactly what you're saying. They don't appreciate talent when it's right in front of them.

I have watched reactions to Lovebites music videos by people from the UK, Finland, Russia, Brazil and Nigeria to name but five countries, and in none of these case's do I recall her accent being an issue.
I do agree with you that many people do not appreciate the talent in this band, but the same can be said about many musicians. It is simply a sad fact that most people do not want to put in the effort required to listen and understand what heavy rock/metal is all about. But exactly the same can be said about the various classical music genres and Jazz, with which rock/metal shares much of it's structure and complexity. It is easier to just accept the simple formulaic mass produced rubbish that passes ( and for the most part always has ) for music.
I applaud you for championing Lovebites and similar bands, but we have to accept that we who appreaciate such musicianship are always going to be a minority. Personally I am supporting them by buying their CD's, Blu Rays of their concerts, and am I going to their gig in London this coming June. ( a venue with a capacity of only 350, that was sold out within a couple of hours of the tickets going on sale. Someone needs to have a word with their management! I have no doubt that they could have filled a much larger venue. I hope to see the day when they fill the O2 Arena during a sell out tour of Europe )

You can use all kinds of ways too describe how very Great this band is. For Me its Fire and Class. Rarely does such a super group of virtuosity level musicians work so well together for so long(8 years). If you approach this band knowing something about music theory and Technical arrangement you realize this band is a Master Class of Professor level substance. They really have no equal and are likely the first All Female Metal band that has accomplished the heights this band is rising too. The Perfect band imo. Also the lyrics are in English or for some western folks think "Engrish". This band could had been just as big singing in Japanese for the Japan fans but decided they are a Western Influenced band and embrace the language barrier. We in the West should try too be a little more open ,tolerant and flattered that they are so willing too learn/ use our language rather than their own. I understand her English just fine btw but I also make it a point too embrace and understand Other cultures and Languages. Ymmv.
