- [UPDATE] In contrast to my clamping method shown in the video I’ve learned since that it’s a much better idea to clamp the bike on the seat stay. See here: / bjxhmuigdc8
I also improved the clamp by using a rubber mat glued in with double-sided tape. See here: / bjxguojgvhh

I built a stand for bike repair and maintenance work. I used mostly scrap wood, some steel pipes and rods and some hardware I had to buy. The total cost was about 40 EUR, half of which went into the two clamping levers that you can see at the end of the video.
This project is in many places a little rough. I built it over the course of several weeks while I was very busy at work and didn’t have much shop time. So my focus was on getting ahead at all and not so much on precise craftsmanship.

I explain the details in this video: • MY PARTNER COMPANIES -...
I want to let you know that I cooperate with a couple of tool companies. Occasionally, they provide me with some of their tools for me to use in the shop.
But: Whenever you see me using a tool it means that I like it and think it’s worth using. When I do a review, I tell you my honest opinion.
I want to be transparent about these partnerships, however, so that you’re not kept in the dark and can make up your own mind if you think I’m in fact unbiased or not.
My partner companies are: Bessey, Kreg, Maschinenhandel Meyer, Triton, Wolfcraft (as of 02/2018)

What are your measurements for the boom...??
Muy bueno. Excelente idea utilizar madera. Felicitaciones. Muchas gracias.
👍
Its a genius design of that wooden clamp because you can rotate it also very nice and clean looking stand. I may try to do it myself although i don't have all the tools you have, but i think it's still doable :) great job, thanks!
Thanks. Good luck.
very nice workmanship/creativity
Thank you!
Great woodworking skills!
Thanks.
I very much like the stand and the work you put into it, however, I would recommend changing where the stand holds the bike. If you need to use the rear gears or rear brakes, the cables are rubbing against the wood. It would also be a hassle to change the gear cables going to the rear of the bike. Most professional stands hold the bike by the seat tube so that all parts of the bike are accessible while it is in the air. Otherwise, everything looks great. Well done! Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your feedback. Shortly after making the video I discovered just what you point out (see update in the video description). The mounting head can be turned so I've clamped the bike by the seat tube since then. Works just as well. Thanks for watching.
Andreas Kalt Oh yes, I usually look at the description but I didn't this time. I see you have it taken care of then, again, good work!
I think I'll go buy one. We don't all have workshops and tools like this!
Fair enough.
0:00 So, you have a movie for me? Yes sir, I do!
Now that I can do !! Awesome 👌
Great!
Very nice bike stand .
Thanks.
great idea! nice work!
Thanks!
nice job
Darn I would so buy One
WOW TO SEE IS TO BELIEVE SIR..,UNBELIEVABLE
Thank you.
Looks good, thumbs up!
Thanks :-)
I guess I could spend hundreds of $ maybe over a thousand on the equipment you have, plus the nice lumber you used. And if I had the space for it all, then there's the learning curve that will have extra expense, time and mistakes that come with it. A decently built stand is a fraction of that with no time investment at all. One can get right to the bikes. I have to ask myself why reinvent the wheel ? Other than that well made video at least.
Das ist mal ein interessantes Projekt... Gute Idee
Danke Wolfram :-)
Good work and low cost
Thank you.
Cool build. Adapt it to hang by the seat post. Anything else may compromise the frame integrity.
Thanks. Yeas, I’ve also realised that by now (see update in the description)
Curious what the name of the orange lever is used towards the end of your video 10:26-10:47 min mark?
That’s a clamping lever (Klemmhebel in German).
I might have overlooked it but do you have plans available?
No, sorry.
What are those handsaws that you are using in the beginning of the video?
That’s a Japanese ryoba, for rip cuts and cross cuts: amzn.to/2nzcByx
Excellent! Also thank you for taking the time to respond.
Nice !
Thanks.
not gonnaa give us any tips 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
very sleek im definitely stealing that clamp design ive been up all night trying to come up with one lol the designs have gotten pretty wild i cant believe how simple you made it.
Go ahead and good luck.
It's great
Thanks.
Nice video... who/what are the artists/songs you are using for thr background music??? Cool tunes.

You're receiving a strange amount of negative comments. I don't have the tools for this project, but I enjoyed the video nonetheless. It was interesting watching you work and learning from it.
Thank you!
Cool,.all I need is £5,000 worth of tools to build something that Lidl are selling for £25.00.
jajajajajaj yes
When he started on the bench saw I knew their was no hope.
Danke
Do you have parakeets?
While you were fiddling with all that, I bought a stand, adjusted my chain, trued up front wheel and went riding.
EJubett LOL.
It was raining
BOOM! Right?
That's a cool build Andreas. where were u when I had work on my 4 boys bikes lol. keep creating
+Opa's Workshop Thanks Opa!
lol, your problem was that you used softwood... use hard wood!!... and perhaps a different set up for the legs (45 angle) bar could be added to eliminate vector/pivot movement
Thanks for the tips.
you should have these pre-cut in drilled and sell them in kits
+joeh690 thanks for the suggestion. But my workshop is not set up for serial production. ;-)
Looking for a simple hack for a stand. Nice but not what I'm looking for...
No problem. There’s plenty on CZcams. Good luck.
Why comment that , really pointless . Makes you out to be a negative dumbass

If you have tools worth a fortune it might be a nice experiment.
Couldnt watch due to my ear drums were bleeding at 2:36 onwards
The video is two years old - to be honest, when I watch it now I also think: What was I thinking with the music? ;-)
Andreas: I'm going to make one of these, but instead of a stand, make one that clamps into my woodworking vise - a lot easier to store.
Good idea!
You could easily convert the one you have now.
My shop is in the basement of the garage while the bikes are in the garage itself. So the bike stand or the bikes would have to be carried up and down the stairs which is not useful.
Makes sense.
Glaub das muss ich nachbauen =)
Nice DIY bike stand....Bike should ideally hang by its seat post clamped...you could get away with clamping the top tube for aluminium / titanium / steel bikes..but for carbon fiber frames, clamping the top tube would compromise the structural integrity of the bike...
the base of the stand, if you can try and get it into a 90 degree angle , it could easily fit into any suitable corner of your workshop thereby clearing up more space to move around the shop...
Thanks for the tip. I’ve since come to realise this as well.
The music is terrible but thanks for the video
Thanks for your feedback.
Very wrong. the cables from the brakes and the punch are pinched
I’ve learned that, too, in the meantime. See my pinned comment.
It could have been a lot shorter and more effective to have just shown us the best way and edited out the fails.
Make a better video.
You've more tools than a professional shop. For all you expend in materials, and all this hard work, is not better just buy it done?.
Thanks for watching. First: I think it’s fun to think up a design and build it. Second: The wood was all scraps, the metal cost me about 10 EUR, the most expensive parts were the orange clamps, they were 15 EUR each. So all in all it was about 50 EUR. You won’t get one ready-made for this money.
You´re right, things has another value when you do them with your hands. I wish to have your hability, congrats! And it´s not so expensive. Greetings from Chile.
Thanks. It’s never too late to start learning those skills. It feels great to make things with your own hands.
This Dude wanted to show off his $20K Collection!! This ain't No Damn DIY......who the F#*k got All that Equipment, and Freaking Specialty Hardware Laying Around!!! I'm thinking milk crate, Metal pole, or some pvc type shit.....Lmfao!!!....BTW: it's a nice job!! 😉
You can do all of this with hand tools. And the only special hardware is the release levers, which are commercially available, or just use a couple of big butterfly nuts.
flip the bike over and have at it .
doch klar. Vielleicht wolltest du nur so mehr Menschen erreichen... also alles gut ;-)
So if you own a shop you can build something cheaply , no shop ?not a problem just buy a professional Park tool stand.
I can see where you’re coming from. If you *don’t* have shop or necessary tools, it doesn’t make sense, of course, to invest in one just for the bike stand. But if you *do* have a shop anyway (as many of my viewers do), then you can build this fairly cheaply.
Hahahaha, I know right !! Looking for something I can make with limited tools.
your music is so bad i had to stop watching your video after 15 secs
You’re right - this track really IS bad. Don’t know what I was thinking 😉
It was banging what
oh damn ,take the video down this clown doesn’t like the music . What a tard lol .
that's what the mute button is for
