Really dig the voice acting in this one; also it's an interesting detail that he never comments about all the dead bodies, or how he says "they've awake, I need to get back to my bunker before sundown", I get the feeling that the world has a lot more going on than just gangs. Seems like this is a horror game, set within a horror setting that is separate to the events in the game (at least as far as the demo goes).
Like a side quest in fallout...you're finding a girl that run away with her gangster boyfriend... but there's all the other stuff going, the world of the game isn't all about that
Great worldbuilding here. The little throwaway references to gangs, having to gather supplies, the state of the corpses you find, and the lack of any real elaboration as to what is going on outside the police station makes me think of the first Purge movie. This is just a microcosm of a bigger crapsack world, and it’s awesome.
Definitely, the premise made me want to know more of what the hell was going on.
Some kind of zombie/monster apocalypse it seems.
@@DGneoseeker1 ,,zombie/monster apocalypse,, my ass
@@emanuelmaldoileacont8253 Have you not seen the screenshots on Steam and the game's description?
There's a picture of some kind of huge mutant creature (humanoid) picking up a human.
And the game tells us that everyone should be back in the bunkers before night because it's when THEY come out and start killing everyone above ground.
The gangmembers are afraid of "THEM" as well... They are evidently monsters of some kind.
"I don't need a map!"
*gets knocked out and robbed blind*
"...maybe I need a map."
Picking up on the "Jawbreaker" title, I put on the incidental soundtrack to _Ed, Edd n' Eddy_ while watching this footage. It shattered the tension into a million pieces, but it was pretty hilarious and fit strangely well with the action.
it was the first thing that came to mind for me too!! this game unlocked quite a few memories :')
For an abandoned police station ran by psychotics, it's very well cleaned. You know what I take it back, it is just horrible.
Some people live like that... in glorious Technicolor....Breathtaking 4K....real life!
12:43 ABG: I must be stealthy, they can't know I was here!
Also ABG: *turns off metal music to let them know he was here to turn it off*
EDIT: 13:08 Also runs stomping his feet right behind the murder mime's back
That could be a 500 IQ double bluff though, because the mimes think he wouldn't turn it off and maybe it either malfunctioned or one of them wanted to hear better...Yeah, i know, no chance
I bet the mimes pranked each other by closing invisible doors on each other.
Man, I like abg's game choice, but I really wish the first playthrough was the one he showed. Like he went to the keypad, than immediately ran to the room with the locked cabinet that he didn't even approach before and unlocked it and obtained the code. Does it really matter? To me yes lol, I like watching people learn and figure it out. Not pretend
Its nice to see a more "freakshow" take rather than usual clown suits
*Picks up shotgun:*
Guy: If I use this it'll wake everyone up
Also Guy: Hmmmm .. Could give this new shotgun a little test
Puts me in mind of Manhunt when you go up against the Smileys :)
First Haven Lake being a love letter to Silent Hill and now this, is nice seeing people doing games like this that really feel fsithfull to the source material.
"The shotgun would wake the whole building up, but might be useful if I get cornered". 15 seconds later: "Let's try the shotgun on a dummy with the only two shells I found".
" why the electrical system work like that?? It makes no sense......
"Shut the F*** up is how it works"
-Tjay
Those in game thugs always make us laugh with how they talk with each other
the layout of the game is really good, the tension in the atmosphere, the dialogues. good job!!
Commenting again.
The metal detector beep was so clever, usually the danger yells or something to let you know it's there but the detail of realizing something is with you adds more to the immersion
When was 8t
@@Handles_arent_a_needed_feature like 4:28 or so. the fact it went off when you werent near it
Most def could be a manhunt 3! This was tense and badass
I was thinking the same thing.
I got alot of Manhunt & Outlast vibes.
The balls to test the shotgun when he's supposed to stay in stealth.
12:07 actually this could be an answer to questions about EVERY weird or unrealistic level design choice.
Off course! The engineer
Manhunt + Outlast = Jawbreaker aka Horror Ed, Edd n Eddy
For a game called Jawbreaker it sure is a stunner.
Ah, I miss Condemned. Well two thirds of it anyway.
Looks promising, but I'm a little confused about some of the design decisions? For example, why is there a rarity system if it seems like loot is predetermined?
Also, I can understand some actions taking time to require players to commit in order to get certain tasks done. But for things like changing scene @ 14:20 it's a little strange.
Maybe just to give you an idea of whether or not you should be wasting ammo? Does seem a bit silly though.
Hi ABG! Keep up the good stuff
I'm such a fanboy of outlast. One of the best games in the genre
Edit: after finishing the video, I'd say it feels more like a Resident evil or condemned than Outlast, the cutscenes and camera changes don't follow the vibe
Yeah, this seems a lot closer to RE7
I played both Outlast and Whistleblower on my Switch and they were fantastic. I still can't believe how they made such a dynamic gameplay experience from what's basically a run and hide sim
I have to agree, Outlast feels like it has just a _bit_ more character overall in production. I still think this is very competent.
I like where this is going, kinda like Outlast with a mix of Condemned.
I got condemned vibes too!
Always happy to see Joshua Tomar do VA work.
I kept waiting for the ordinary Manhunt to begin.
Is like Manhunt has taken place in Racoon City Police Department... 💀
I thought the same! :)
9:21 the Corpse Grinder in the logo is actually the nickname of the vocalist of a very popular death metal band Cannibal Corpse.
Yep. Glad I'm not the only one who caught that reference :)
I've heard of that band.
@@BenelliAkimbo You should listen to their songs. Very good songs :D
Loved that detail, made me like instantly like this game
For a split second, I hoped it was a reference to the cheesy B-movie of the same name, about 2 guys who sell cat food made from corpses.
One of my oldest friends, from another world, & another time. Thanks for never leaving my side Lightbringer of the Norse. 💚🧡❤️🔥❄️⚡
Bruh, my man just running from bunch of juggalos like if they really can harm ya
nice find trying the Demo now
wow.. thats some impressive atmosphere
9:15 "Never should have come here" I expected Skyrim combat music so hard it almost broke immersion, but excellent atmosphere aside from this lol
Love your puns!
Thumbs up just for the intro. 🙂
This is great!
9:13 Cannibal Corpse!! Woot
I'd have slid the weights off the barbell and taken the steel rod at 6:45 over the radar personally. :P
And get stuck the first time you swung it in those narrow hoarder-level cluttered corridors.
ngl the intro dad-joke was pretty good this time
F in the chat for passcode bro, he seemed like a pretty chill psychotic clown. 🤡
Love the music! Reminds me of God Speed You Black Emperor! Really creepy game Iike it!
Intense!!
The thumbnail should be a meme tho XD
Main Characters VA sounds like Itachi Uchiha haha
need full version
9:18 A fan of George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher, eh?
I fuckin love the grunge punk rock feel of this game.
I jumped when that guy swung at you. Not gonna say when I seen it though, folks. :)
I jumped at the end of the game as well. This game looks awesome. I can't wait to see the final product.
This reminds me of the asylum level in Manhunt.
World building and atmosphere/sound is great. Animations are pretty clunky though.
Gee I wonder if testing the shotgun gave away your position at all lol
Instant Gold.
ABG you should totally play SIGNALIS!!!!
Hi! Signalis is a great game, but it's a little too well known for me to cover now. I did cover an early build of it back in June last year though. :)
they gave you weapon at end of the demo :D
5:03 OMG I actually got scared there, I never do that with these types of games.
Same, I about pissed myself. Silent jumpscares are so much more effective than a loud sound.
So this is by the Harthorn guys! That explains their ability to create a cool setting but then ruin it with cheap earrape…
Reminds me of the police station level in Dead Island
It was definitely inspired by manhunt
At least unlike Outlast you at least fight back with weapons.
Goofy outlast
Great audio, sound, music, voiceover
Gameplay wise seems good, a bit clunky?
Game design overall is great, things are on the right places
But damn only if devs got more experience in visual design...
This would be perfect
Aw you don't even get to kill any of them.
16:12 I GOT THOSE GAMES LOL
This is very good and this world has lots of potential, I hope dearly that the developer explore more this world with all sorts of game ideas
10/10 joke in the beginign XD
Who were the "They" that the perspn on the speaker & protagonist were speaking of?
Yeppp exactly 💯😂🎉🎉👍👍
20:35 My phone almost fell off the bed XD
The game has a similar vibes to Condemned
Could you play space for the unbound: I bring this up because I wanted to see if they added any new stuff storywise, because the games tells a very emotional story.
When you start creating witty intros and outros?
bro fully ignored every super obvious and mysterious piece of paper surrounded by candles????
Hi! They're just tutorials that are telling you the controls. There are no narrative elements in them. :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer do you read guides or play them once before hand? How would you know not to look there for clues?
I don't often read guides (most of the games I cover don't even have guides yet), but sometimes I playthrough a game twice to try and make for a better viewer experience. For instance in my first playthrough I took me ages to find all the scrap packages as I didn't know you could open drawers. It wouldn't make for a very entertaining video to see me wandering around cluelessly for five minutes! :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer Does this game not have a story good enough to warrant the note reading? I've just noticed that there are other games where you prioritize that
@@incoher the notes are basicaly control tutorial with zero story/lore in it

👍👍
Abg when that drunken clown ran to you screaming did it simultaneously piss you off an scare the almighty hell out of you as well sir?
Btw whomever did the concept for the game you know the whole devils reject mixed with prison escape is a smart man this was pretty cool an creepy
True
Go for the juggler
I feel like I understand this joke
But I don't know how or why
Hi! It's just a silly little pun on the phrase "go for the jugular". :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer Ah that's what the word was
It was on the tip of my tongue lol
there is a russian game ripping off manhunt called the hunt 2008, very similar to this.
Ok but where and when does this take place? After wwiii? During the zombie Apocalypse? Modern day Chicago? Either could be true
Read the steam page
@@MumboJumboZXC it was a joke on Chicago being less than ideal as a city, nobody is getting it apparently
What were all the little candle things? You missed a bunch of them
*candle note things, the ones that have a note/piece of paper between them
Hi! They're just tutorial notes. Nothing story related.
I like the concept and overall look on this game. But if there are one thing I must nagging a bit about. Its the Voice over. Personally I hope the dev will added an option to turning that off in game. Not that they are bad or anything, But it just that I think a game like this shouldn't having a character voice over, Especially if you want the player to feel immerse with the playable character. Otherwise, Definitely going to wait for the game to came out.
Seemed fine to me. He's his own character in this universe not just a stand in for us
Um, the freaks talk too much to be mimes. Also, regarding the jumpscare at 20:30, did the NPC just run right through you?
Oops, I forgot to mention that I *did* like the pun about "unspeakable things".
Yeah, that jumpscare at 20:30 was weird. Maybe the NPC did run right through the player.
🎞️🎥🎬🖥️🎮👍👍👍👍👍👍
looks like a side mission for rage 2 looks boring but rage 2 is great game
I'm glad someone decided to dig up rotten corpse of Condemned and make a horror about psychotic junkies. This aesthetic is criminally (lol) under-used.
Condemned as in Condemned: Criminal Origins?
@@hieioni3354 yes.
@@quint3ssent1a Cool. Thanks.
Да, нужно больше хороров про нариков
And for a first person game the meele fight was really good....that game for ps2 "urban chaos" was kinda like that too

Is it just me, or does the voice of the protagonist sound a lot like a gamer who goes by the name "Manly Bad-ass Hero"?
Now that you mention it, he does sounds like ManlyBadassHero.
I thought that too it sounds like him
Prepare for a different perspective:
This game feels pretty underwhelming to me so far. I think music is important for games though when attempting to make a horror game sometimes no music can set the best ambience even though the developers clearly did not care to make one for this game. When there was music it was just jarring and when there wasnt it was just awkward.
Everything that happened at the start was extremely predictable to me, especially the girl pretending to be distressed as a “trap”. The only thing that confused me was why the guy decided to go back at the beginning when the code popped up on screen. I understand that sometimes as a developer if you cant think outside the box for a scenario in the game you have to make your character do something silly to push the story forward but even when taking this into account the fact that the protagonist went back makes no sense to me. The code flashes on the screen just as he leaves which would clue in pretty much anyone about the suspiciousness of the situation considering how convenient it is. The guy even says himself that he has more than enough loot to be able to leave without an issue so going back just does not really work.
Moving to the atmosphere, not that this game really has one, maybe the reason why every other comment seems so alien to me is just different tastes in horror games but I dont like whatever they were trying to do with the environment, the humour feels very out of place and the building is too bright to convey danger as there is not really any room for anything to be hidden. Later on in the game this is thankfully given some care as it gets bright enough to see but dark enough to feel a bit intimidating but the enemies constantly talking and being easy to catch out hurts that. I do appreciate that they at least tried here.
I dont care what anyone says, the jumpscares here were sincerely just awful. Ive seen my fair share of good and bad ones, these ones were not the worst, but they were down there. There is no build up and the first one actually made me laugh, which is a shame because the idea of giving the player a cue that someone else is in the building by setting off the motion detector is kind of decent. Not even close to good as it doesnt make sense for the enemies to even do this from an experience perspective and it is a bit cliche, but I set my expectations low for indie horror so that was pleasant enough to warrant a compliment. I want to note how I am not some hardened warrior or tough guy, a good jumpscare will make me jump as one should, but the key word there is good. It needs to be well executed and be backed with an at least serviceable atmosphere but all of the jumpscares failed and the first one was too silly and predictable to be viable in any way.
I enjoy looking for unknown indie games and when you look in the right places you can find some untouched gems. This game is not one of them, though this wont stop me from looking for more indie horror games. Horror is my favourite genre of games and humble titles are always fun to look at since the developers usually are not as heavily pressured by publishers or a large team/director to make a certain type of game. Creativity flows a bit more in the indie scene on average from what I have found. Still, competent indie horror titles are rare so it saddens me when they turn out like how this currently looks.
Lets leave this on a slightly more optimistic note. The developers are going for a dark comedy horror that also has an action element judging from the shotgun at the end. They dont seem to be going for the boring kiddie horror type of game with flashy colours all over the place nor are they making nothing but a jumpscare fest, the scares are bad but there are only a few which is nice. The developers, no matter how poorly it seems to be going right now, are clearly trying to do something fresh with the genre, and I respect that choice 100%. But this idea is just not working at least for me.
It puzzles me why people are comparing this to other games such as Manhunt (Which I like a lot, it is my favourite Rockstar game) since they seem very different to me. It is also worth noting that this is a demo, so many things could change and the games entire identity could even be overhauled to something better and different. However, going off of how it looks now, this game is definitely a pass for me.
I wish the developers the best in whatever they decide to do with this game and its idea though and if the comments of this video are anything to go by it seems like there is an audience for a game like this, which surprises me a bit. Thanks for the gameplay anyway ABG, I watch your channel occasionally when it shows up in my recommended and I enjoy most of your content. Keep up the good work!
on point. touché
