I remember going to ascot when I was a kid. I would have just turned 10 years old at this race! Wow the memories I have of being there.
Used to catch mud in beer cups as it sprayed into the stands as a kid n hang out under the bleachers i can remember it like yesterday
No, it's been gone for a long time.... thanks for posting the great memories.
My dad used to race here when I was a kid i remember sitting in the stands with my mom watching my dad and he used to let me help work on his race car I was really young so he just let me think I was helping hahaha and I have pics of my mom painting the numbers on the side of his car well he had a few cars he raced really good memories here. And my dad and I have been going to the LB swap meet since I was a kid it’s crazy they still do it today.
Can you send me some photos and information? I am still around a lot of people that raced back then and we all share anything we can Maybe load them up on Messenger and message me. Or email me at fourvideos@yahoo.com
Great videos, thanks!
Very cool stuff, thanks for posting!
My fathers car was the number 14! He wasn’t driving this event but that’s his car! He was in A Very Brady Christmas with his car at this track!
Thanks Hard to come by but worth it for sure
I can still smell the blow-by.
Thank you for the memories, Donald, Steve, and Tony are my Uncles. Sad to say Steve and Tony passed away. Donald still races, He lives out in Arizona.
GriggsC123 Sorry to hear they passed away. Just lucky I raced at Ascot back in those years so it helps with getting some vintage racing footage sometime of the racing that many people would like to remember going to.
fourvideos Forgot to mention Brian Cleary also passed away as well. Sad day when Ascot closed.
GriggsC123 I had Brian shoot some video of the races for me at Victorvile Speedway, We were friends on facebook so I followed him until he passed away. It was a very sad day.
Glad you enjoyed it. More to come later
My uncle used to race there back in the day.His name is Jim Powell
The junk yard was Super Auto Wrecking and he moved to Kansas a few years after his Mother was murdered and at this time he is putting up a huge fight against cancer, but from what his son has told us he is beating it.
very cool... It would be great if you could put a race or two up on a regular basis .
I have more but not as many as it would like to put one up every week. Anybody have some send them to me and I will edit and post them
Yeah I know about Earl he is on my friends list on Facebook.
I know him. He use to have a auto fix it shop then moved away from the area. What is he up to now ?
I forgot I was gonna ask what your name is so I can pass it along?
I don't think the track's there anymore
It closed in 1990. It was demolished and an Insurance Auto Auctions (COPART) lot is now there.
Still racing like many of the people from Ascot, good to hear.
You can send me the info to my email fourvideos@yahoo.com.
His friend Earl Stubbs ( the photographer from Ascot) just had heart bypass surgery and is recovering. I am sure they would each enjoy a phone call.
Thanks David
Thank you for the information.
Can you email me his email address and phone number. Many of the old Ascot guys are still racing and in contact with each other and I see them regularly. Jimmy did some work on my race car and he was good friends with Doug Schooly and his
Dad ( Speed) who sponsored my car. I remember when his mother was murdered and how devastating it was to him, his family and the racers and friends at the time.
Well I can get his son Jim's email and phone # and what not.He was racing up to last year off and on and even won some race's.If you ever met his sister I'm her youngest son Johnny.
