Great down to earth review, Dave. One thing, though, I wouldn’t call the 2X a digital zoom since it is on 48MP sensor, it is just a crop and the pixel size are as good as most telephoto sensors (no ‘digital’ interpolation). It just doesn’t get the same image pipeline that the 24 and 12 MP on the main camera do so it wont look as good, though. BTW, no one seems to be reviewing the black iPhone 15, I am really curious how that looks with the frosted back. What did you think at the Apple event?

Pretty similar to the iPhone 14 but it’s more comfortable to hold case less thanks to the rounded edges.

One important question: are you enjoying 2x zoom quality as good as main lens in previous iPhones?
Being in media markt I noticed that people looked soapish - skin, clothes. Maybe not enough light was there..
The zoom crops in on the 48mp sensor so that it retains full detail even in 4K or at 12MP. The "soap" look is likely due to the filters Apple uses to enhance photos and video to reduce noise in dark situations.
@@ChaseTheSummit I guess that soapy reducing is also in pro models. My mom got iPhone 13 mini and just imagine iPhone 18 after 5 years with new features for her. It will be more than enough for average users. Have a nice day mate! ☀️⛅️
Are you planning to keep the 15, or as a content creator, maybe move to the Pro Series, due to the camera.
I have a pro version coming today! This 15 was loaned to me by apple for review so I won't be keeping it. That said, the base model iphones this year are KILLER and there isn't a huge reason to get the Pro model unless you really want the extra camera features.

Yes! I wish I could buy a 5” iPhone. Then again, that’s kinda why the Apple Watch cellular exists.
I have the same feeling. The 6.1" model is still too big for the pocket of my running shorts (it still fits in the pocket, but you know, smaller is better). Actually I pretty like the 12/13 mini for its smaller form factor, but I want to have the extra features found on the pro model.
If Apple launches iPhone 16 Pro Mini, I will definitely go for it. (but I know no one care about the mini one except runners🥲🥲🥲🥲)

One important question if 2x zoom is crop then we will get the same shape of the face with 1x standing closer to the person and 2x standing a little far from the distance ?
Right, the focal length isn't actually changing so you won't get telephoto compression from the zoom.
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks!! I don't understand - iPhone 15 doesn't have telephoto, just only crop but iPhone 15 Pro has it. Both in those zoom have 12 mpx. It's on Apple site, so what's the difference between 2x zoom
crop 12Mpx and telephoto 3x optical zoom 12Mpx? If it's 3x optical zoom and still 12Mpx then it's a crop..

Yep, not super noticeable on the base 15 though. It's more noticeable on the Pro model.
the small problem is that iphone 15 charger Port is slow because iphone 15 used usb c 2.0 , you need to buy iphone 15 pro or 15 pro max because the port is usb c 3.0
USB 2.0 doesn’t effect the charging speed just the file transfer speed.
When I see the happiness of Apple users in these videos for some really weird things, I get surprised. "USB C cable, wooowww... They give us charging cable with both phone and airpod. Amazing... Hey, you can charge your airpods with iPhone. Whaaaat???" But the most funny part is "if you need to have fast charging, you need to upgrade to 15 Pro" 🤣🤣🤣
I am going to upgrade from iPhone Xr, I can't decide between 15 and 14 Pro (I don't care about usb-c, all my other apple devices and people around me have lighting). Any ideas for which one to go?

120 hz display with always on, telephoto camera, proraw - prores, stainless steel edges, exactly the same soc. The only downsides are it's heavier and there won't be new auto portraits feature, but overall it's a no brainer over 15

why you compare a pro to a non-pro? of course they will be different.
It’s what I have. The design language is different between 14 and 15 so it doesn’t really matter if it’s pro or not.
