*Sarah, an old home remedy for sunburn is this: take a soft cloth and saturate it with white vinegar. Take this compress and gently apply the white vinegar to the sunburned area. This takes away the PAIN and the REDNESS....it's like a MIRACLE❣️👍🏼🕊 I learned this from my grandmother, and it's NEVER failed me yet‼️🥰 My daughter has told (and shown) MANY people this trick and they were all AMAZED at how well this works. 💕💯😁*
Your living room looks amazing, including the chairs! I wouldn’t personally paint the secretary desk, it is such a beautiful piece. Painting it would definitely knock down it’s value. I have different types of wooden antique pieces in a room and it suits me. Whatever you do will be gorgeous!
I’m happy that you kept the green chairs! I wouldn’t paint the desk. Maybe use it somewhere else in your house. That will give you a good reason to go treasure hunting for a new piece of furniture. The way you have your living room decorated and laid out looks great.
Very fresh and lovely. I'm not one of those people who clutch their pearls and shudder at the very thought of painting wood. That said, I personally would NOT paint that piece. The wood is so beautiful and in such good condition and frankly I don't think it clashes enough with the pine to be noticeable. However, if it bothers you, you can always move it. It's a slim enough profile I think it could fit in any number of places, including a hallway/entryway. Thank you for another inspiring video!
You’ve done a great job with your home everything flows together so well. My mother is an interior decorator and she always said that you can mix woods so I think it’s OK to keep the desk the way it is. The older that I’ve gotten the more I realize that you can do things so many different ways and they still look great.!
Hi ya Sarah. My sweet American friend. Your living room looks absolutely gorgeous. Love all the plants and greenery going on. Really adds to the space. You make cleaning look so relaxing. I can more or least guarantee that when i clean my windows it will rain next day. What I'm going to say next is a wee bit personal. I am decade's older then you, but what I really envy is you being able to get down on your hands and knees , and get all to those far off corners that are often forgotten. Job well done. It wasn't until I put a vase of roses that my daughter brought in for me, that I notice how dusty the shelf was. So one job leads to a other and a another. Still job done. Have a glorious week. Take care of your sweet little family.xx
You have a beautiful home. I wish I could motivate myself to clean like you do🤦♀️. That said, you are inspirational. My two cents on the oak secretary - don’t paint it. It’s quarter-sawn oak. Move it. It’s smaller, so maybe it could fit in a hallway or the entryway. Whatever you decide, it will be gorgeous. Have a terrific week.
I am no designer, but i like the green chairs in the room. They are a more modern look but they are understated and subtle and they look much more comfortable and cozy than your other chairs. The color is pretty too. I can see why you might think about painting the desk to fit better in the room, but I think it is beautuful the way it is. Your living room is beautuful
So beautiful, as always! Your home inspires me to truly know myself and "my style" for my home for my family because at the end of the day it is all about making them feel comfortable and cozy in in our home. 🥰 Thank you for sharing your joy in homemaking!
I loved the print of Kingswear, Devon. It’s still just as beautiful today. On the opposite bank of the River Dart is Dartmouth and the Royal Naval College where QEii met and fell in love with Prince Phillip. Just upstream from Kingswear is Agatha Christie’s summer house, Greenway.
I bought a 1930’s tiger oak curio cabinet recently and removed the orange stain with the Easy Off oven cleaner method. It scrubbed off easily. I followed with very light sanding, then brushed on a few coats of Clorox bleach out in the direct sun. Lastly, I neutralized the bleach with a coat of white vinegar, also in the sun and then hosed it off again and left it outside to dry overnight. Now it has a bleached tiger oak exterior with the original brown-stained oak interior to be viewed through the cabinet’s glass which looks nostalgic. The whole piece still appears to be an antique, even though it’s bleached. The exterior looks like white tiger oak now.
Such a lovely room and I like the chairs moved...looks more open. I would sell the desk before painting it or use somewhere else. Wood and plants add so much to a room. Hope the sunburns are better. Can make you feel awful.
Hi Sarah. Happy Spring! I agree with your idea of maybe white. Perhaps more of a wash to start. You can always add more if you don't like the whitewash. It's rather dainty so maybe the green would overpower it. Raw honey is good for sunburns.
I like the oak desk! the wood in oak is just beautiful. I refinished antiques for over 25 years. I had a small business but did some pieces that now I look back and I really enjoyed them. I worked outside the home also , so it took me time to get them done. I took pictures of them and I can't believe I had that much patience. Your woods are different from each other. I have one thing to say about Murphy's oil soap. It is oil, if you ever want to put a sealer over it , it might not work, it could be cloudy. Just something to think about. bye Joyce
It all looks amazing! It’s great to have the 80/20 look, so the touch of modern with the green chairs suits so well. I don’t think the desk needs painting because it’s across the room from the armoire so they “speak” to each other, rather than compete. You have beautiful taste, so you will know what’s best for you 😌
Sarah, I'm a painter when it comes to furniture, and my advise with the little desk, I would wait... its beautiful as is, but if your really unsure to paint it, I would just wait and eventually it will come to you. One thing for sure, once you paint it, thats it. Don't make a quick decision because it might not be what you really want. I love the armoir , beautiful!!
First l LOVE that first peel and stick wallpaper! Beautiful! Second, the modern chairs are PERFECT, don’t apologize for your impeccable taste! Third, mixing wood types is so very lovely, if they are real, not the glued on paper; yours are just perfect! Magazine worthy!
No to painting the desk! It is so beautiful as is♥️ The chairs looked fine...but it's really your preference. I wish I had the energy to clean like you...and knees that would allow it. I love watching someone else clean😂 You have a beautiful home Sarah!
Hi Sarah, love that you kept the green chairs and brass coffee table. My thought is cottage is an accumulation of things inherited and added new furnishings from different generations including our own.The desk is charming but I ran into the same situation with an English oak sofa / entry table, so I painted it in creamy taupe chalk paint with a clear finish coat that l used on other projects and I absolutely love it. New hardware and viola!😊 This taupe is a gray beige that is neutral enough to go with anything, painted furniture is a big part of cottage too as I’m sure you know.Hugs to everyone.🫂💜🦋
Hi Sarah, I love the chair in front of the mirror, but also by the window. The secretary desk I will paint a beautiful shade of green. I think it will look lovely with your colors & decor.
Hi Sarah You have the greatest eye for decorating💕. I just love the way you put the little vignettes together on tables. I do like the green chairs, at first I thought the vintage but the green ones work in your space. I love to talk to myself too when I clean😂. Rocky is so cute, so precious, I am a dog lover. The armoire is so stunning in the living room and also you have such a nice collection of artwork. Cant wait for your next projects....hope you are having a great day and I wish you many blessings friend 🙏🏼🌷🌷🌷🌷
Além de teres uma casa lindíssima, tu percebes mesmo de decoração e acredita que eu sei do que falo. E não pintes o móvel, a madeira dele é demasiado bonita. ❤🇵🇹
I love the chairs too Sarah. I’m glad you kept them and I love your idea for the green ones. Upholstering is so expensive. You can almost go buy new chairs with custom fabric. Just not THOSE chairs…..
I would either paint the desk or sell it. If you decide to sell it… you could look for a pine desk to replace it. If you decide to paint it… it would look better with your pine furniture pieces in my opinion. Since you moved that chair it seems like the other chair by the dresser feels out of place. Maybe because it’s not symmetrical now, but you do whatever feels right or comfortable to you Sarah. It’s your home and so whatever you decide to do will look great!
Hi Sarah - do the girls love “Pride and Prejudice” ? The BBC production that was on the television is my favourite. Love to see kids enjoying the classics. The house is looking fresh and clean - good job you. Best wishes from Oz🇦🇺🦘
Sarah! It’s beautiful as always! I do love your velvet chairs the way you added the blankets and pillows! So lovely! I think it would be gorgeous to paint the oak piece! Whatever you do will be just perfect!!! 🤩💚
HAPPY Monday Sarah, family, Smokey and Rocky Babies. Sarah where does Rocky stay when it is raining or cold? I understand about glass, we have glass in the living room, dining room and kitchen. Very nice Sarah. STTB
Love the room ! The wood in the doesn’t clash to me if we’re cherry or a different toned wood it would. But it is your home and if you want to paint it go for it whatever you do will be beautiful
Glad you kept the glass coffee table, I hope I can thrift something similar. I wouldnt paint the secretary, the wood grain is beautiful, unless you use a white wash stain that the grain would show through, then it would break up all of the natural wood you have going on like you said...🤷♀️...just a thought. I always move my furniture around when I clean😊👍Looks good!
Wallpaper samples 🤣🤣 all looks fab I don’t think I would paint that piece of furniture it’s beautiful as it is as all u do lots of love from Ireland 🇮🇪 xxx❤️
Hi Sarah, I just love your cottage! I agree with you on the coffee table. The pine is beautiful, but I really like the glass. My vote on the secretary desk is not to paint it. Maybe you can find another place to use it. It's so pretty.
Everything is so beautiful. If it were me I wouldn’t paint the gorgeous secretary I love the look of mixed woods 🤗💕 and oak is very cool right now . Do you all let your sweet dog inside to be with your family?
Maybe you could try whitewashing the secretary desk. That way some of the pretty wood grain patterns could show through. Just a suggestion. Your living room is lovely, btw!
I think it looks great. If you want to paint anything - you go for it. Your family is great and you have great curly wavy hair…I think you have a very authentic vibe.
I like the chairs closer together and yes I'd paint the desk, it is beautiful wood but it doesn't work with the other woods in the room. Just me tho, you're much better than than I could ever be at decorating ❤
Oh you can't paint that stunning piece!! You are a wonderful housekeeper. I miss being young and having the energy to do like that. Your home is lovely
I am not opposed to painting wood, but I would leave the secretary as is. It is beautiful! I agree with waiting on the living room wallpaper. Some of the flowers in the sample hanging look like little lightbulbs-hehe! It is your home, but I would choose a wallpaper that doesn't compete with the artwork hung on top of it if that is your plan. I am on break from my own cleaning. I am trying to go room by room and overhaul this house! TFS!
Yes, the chairs looks nice there.I would put a plant on the left side of the book shelf. Not a super tall one, but one to fill that void area. I think it needs a little something there since you moved the chair over. Otherwise, you do a great job on your own. Or, if not a plant, something else like one of your wicker trunks.
Hello Ms Sarah! I still love those green velvet (swoon) chairs. Isn't it fun to refresh a room by changing the layout? Fresh perspective from ur favorite sitting spot😊 Regarding that sweet oak desk....I'm a big fan of wood grains showing, and in nature there are different wood tones next to each other that keep things interesting and not blah. I wouldn't paint...but I crave natural wood. Ok...there's my 2 cents worth. Love from Texas ❤
Hi Sarah. Thanks for your video. The writing desk is stunning. I’m sure it would look amazing painting but it seems a shame to cover the amazing grain. Have you thought about just putting a wash over it. That way you still see the grain. Have a great week. Happy Mother’s Day. Lynda
Lynda, I do like it a lot. I am not much of an oak person, but this piece I do like. I’ll probably wait until we finish the entryway/hallway, then decide. Happy Mother’s Day, sweet friend.💐
I like the chairs where you have them. What happened to the two new chairs you bought a while back? You might have said you were thinking about sending them back. You have such a pretty room. I love all the vintage and antique pieces and without everything being painted. I like painted pieces but sometimes I like just the wood. Great video, Sarah.
Hi! I'm new to your channel and I love it! Your home is beautiful, eclectic, yet homey and cozy. I would definitely paint the Secretary Desk, a sage green would be stunning! Because your right, the woods don't match and the wood on the Secretary has a strange pattern. Or even an off white would look good too. Maybe consider a darker gold rub and buff on the coffee table to tone down the bright yellow gold frame. Oh and I love the green velvet chairs! Ok, there's my 2 cents worth. :-) p.s. Where did u find that beautiful white dress?
Hi Sarah. I love painted furniture, but I believe I would obstain from painting the old desk. If the color is competing with other wood, you could sand it down to it's natural raw wood color. I think that would be beautiful. Also is the pine green wallpaper still in the running for the entry way? It was my favorite. Thank you for sharing another video!
I don't feel the oak desk competes but gives the contrast in woods. The desk is absolutely beautiful the way it is. Could you buy another desk to paint? And put that desk in another area. That's my opinion. I do respect your design ideas and way of decorating your home. I just love the beautiful oak desk. And love your choice of woods for your other furniture.

I am usually a paint it type of gal, but for the oak secretary, I wouldn't. It looks beautiful and is is such great shape!
I wouldn't paint it-it's so beautiful as is! (and I love to paint things!). You have such a knack for decorating-cozy yet so thought out!
I’m happy that you kept the green chairs!
I wouldn’t paint the desk. Maybe use it somewhere else in your house.
That will give you a good reason to go treasure hunting for a new piece of furniture.
The way you have your living room decorated and laid out looks great.
❤️
I second this!
Everything looks so pretty and refreshing ❤. I would not paint the secretary. I can’t wait to see the den and entryway. ~ Janet 😘
Very fresh and lovely. I'm not one of those people who clutch their pearls and shudder at the very thought of painting wood. That said, I personally would NOT paint that piece. Yes..chairs moved look great…not blocked looking..makes feel more roomy…what a great style you have!😊
I do like the chair moved in front of the large mirror. Feels like it opens up the room to the window!
Hi ya Sarah.
My sweet American friend.
Your living room looks absolutely gorgeous. Love all the plants and greenery going on. Really adds to the space.

White wash the drop front desk. You’ll see the wood grain and it won’t compete with the different wood types. Love your decor!

❤
I think the chairs are just beautiful and they soften up the room and as far as the table got for it paint it the perfect shade of green!😊
I bought a 1930’s tiger oak curio cabinet recently and removed the orange stain with the Easy Off oven cleaner method. It scrubbed off easily. Yes,I liked where you moved the chairs.😍
❤️thank you.

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing the day with us! I think I would not paint the desk, I love the seaside piece you found at the antique store!
It all looks amazing! It’s great to have the 80/20 look, so the touch of modern with the green chairs suits so well. It is so pretty!🤎
Hi Sarah, love it that you actually show how you clean effectivly! Thanks for that. You did so much.
Love the modern chairs and the glass coffee table. It needed the modern touch. You made the right choice!
I like the vlog style of this video. I love all of your vlogs!! Especially when you share your family and just everyday life ❤
A “day in the life” is coming up.❤️
Hi Sarah You have the greatest eye for decorating💕. I just love the way you put the little vignettes together on tables.

I love the chairs too Sarah. I’m glad you kept them and I love your idea for the green ones. Upholstering is so expensive. You can almost go buy new chairs with custom fabric. Just not THOSE chairs…..
Love your living room Sarah, it is so inviting, if the secretary isn't an antique I would paint it.
I love the green chairs also.

Such a beautiful home! Love the new wall paper sample you had on the wall!
Your channel is so relaxing 😊. You have a beautiful home.
That oak piece is too beautiful to paint!
Glad you kept the glass coffee table, I hope I can thrift something similar. I would leave the desk as it is, it’s beautiful! I don’t think it competes at all.
Clean ,pretty , relaxing home 💓

little flowers😊 for you and your beautiful daughters from Middle East
Thank you, Amal.❤️
Wallpaper samples 🤣🤣 all looks fab I don’t think I would paint that piece of furniture it’s beautiful as it is as all u do lots of love from Ireland 🇮🇪 xxx❤️
Fran, I have so many samples!😂 You are always so kind.❤️
Coffee table and greens chairs great decision!
Hi Sarah, I just love your cottage! I agree with you on the coffee table. The pine is beautiful, but I really like the glass. My vote on the secretary desk is not to paint it. Maybe you can find another place to use it. It's so pretty.
I love the way you have decorated!
❤️thank you.
Absolutely beautiful!
Everything is so beautiful. If it were me I wouldn’t paint the gorgeous secretary I love the look of mixed woods 🤗💕 and oak is very cool right now . Do you all let your sweet dog inside to be with your family?
I was wondering about the dog to. Such a cutie
Hi sweet Sarah. Another fun video, packed full of great things. Your house looks awesome. Have a great week. Luv ya'll dearly. Bob and Lisa ❤❤❤
Lisa, have a Beautiful week too. Love, ya.❤️
I so enjoy your style! 💛
Carol, thank you.❤️
I love the chairs and coffee table
❤️😍
Maybe you could try whitewashing the secretary desk. That way some of the pretty wood grain patterns could show through. Just a suggestion. Your living room is lovely, btw!
Everything is so beautiful ❤️
☺️❤️
I think it looks great. If you want to paint anything - you go for it. Your family is great and you have great curly wavy hair…I think you have a very authentic vibe.
The best compliment about being authentic. Thank you.❤️
I like the chairs closer together and yes I'd paint the desk, it is beautiful wood but it doesn't work with the other woods in the room. Just me tho, you're much better than than I could ever be at decorating ❤
❤️🥰
TFS!
The desk is beautiful! I. think you might be dissapointed if you paint it. Your home is beautiful!
I like the oak piece, as is. ❤
❤️
Yes, the chairs looks nice there.I would put a plant on the left side of the book shelf. Not a super tall one, but one to fill that void area. I think it needs a little something there since you moved the chair over. Otherwise, you do a great job on your own. Or, if not a plant, something else like one of your wicker trunks.
The wood grain is so beautiful, I would not paint it.
Your Home LOOKS FABULOUS! You are a cleaning Wizzard! OMG...Love it. God Bless, Sherry :)
You should do the oven cleaner method on the secretary, it would tie in with the rest of your furniture then :)
I thought about that!🤗
Hello Ms Sarah! I love your green chairs and your glass coffee table! ❤it’s would be too heavy with all the wood! It’s perfect the way you have it!
Beautiful cottage! Mi Vite is no. For painting the secretary desk is gorgeous as it is.

I love the room it is gorgeous. I would not paint the desk. It is too beautiful as it is.
My feeling is to NOT paint the quarter sawn oak secretary. It is very pretty as is. Love your decorating!
The room looks beautiful and so cozy! Paint the desk if you would like. 14:16
I think you must have the cleanest house in the planet!

I would paint the pine, before I would paint the iak😊
I absolutely love the green chairs. Either way they look very pretty do what you love.

I see you teach the ACE Curriculum. It’s fantastic. We homeschooled our girls with that. 😍
I love Bar Keepers Friend but never thought to clean the windows with it!
Thanks for being here.❤️
I don't feel the oak desk competes but gives the contrast in woods. The desk is absolutely beautiful the way it is. Could you buy another desk to paint? And put that desk in another area. That's my opinion. I do respect your design ideas and way of decorating your home. I just love the beautiful oak desk. And love your choice of woods for your other furniture.
It’s so pretty I do hesitate to paint it.❤️
Bobbie Brown has her own brand, called "Jones Road" she has a " face balm" that you might like. Very natural glow. Honest has a similar product.
I just ordered some two days ago.❤️☺️
Beautiful ❤️
Oak is beautiful
