Hello In There - John Prine cover

- "Hello In There" is my very favorite John Prine song.
This was the very first song I learned to play all the way through, and I learned to play it by listening to the song over and over, bit by bit; a tedious process which involved lifting the needle and setting it back "just a bit" over and over and over more times than you can imagine.
So although we've never met, John Prine taught me how to fingerpick. And although I've heard and played it hundreds of times since over the years, "Hello In There" is the one song that I will never get sick of.
A song about growing old and growing lonely, written by a 24 year-old mailman.
John Prine has always been able to make me laugh and make me cry. This song will always be able to make me cry. - Hudba
Just a "perfect" performance of this classic. RIP John.
This is an amazing cover. Thank you.
RIP John Prine
"Joe is somewhere on the road"....classic John Prine, thanks for posting, loved it!
I was born in '73 and have literally listened to Prine since the day I was born, thanks to my Dad. I was lullabyed to sleep with Prine and Dylan as a kid, and the music has stuck with me as a favorite all my life. I've probably see JP in concert 20 times, and I never get tired of hearing the same songs from 35 years ago!
I've also heard a lot of covers, and just wanted to let you know that you do some really excellent ones.
Kudos for the skill and great taste in music!
I always appreciate it when CZcams creators who accompany themselves with a guitar show both hands, especially the fretting hand. You pretty much play this exactly like Mr, Prine. I only discovered you today; looking forward to perusing your channel. Cheers Jordan. Subbed you. 👍
Agreed Dennis, this is beautifully done
And you in turn sir are helping me learn this beautiful song. Thank you for sharing my friend.
Nice job, sir. Thanks for sharing your talent. John Prine is a national treasure. Someone once said, "Bob Dylan is Bob Dylan. He's from another planet. John Prine is one of us."
Its about time someone plays this with the right chords. I always see people playing this G C D instead of G A2 D. The best cover of this song on CZcams without a doubt.
Damn Jordon, that was beautiful. This is one of my all-time Prine favorites as well and you play it beautifully.
Very nice! I caught myself singing along, I was entertained, and I too love John Prine, this one is one of my favorites. Thank You!
Your guitar playing is so nice, such pretty chords, I'd be playing this everyday, if it were me :) just saying. Very meditative. Willow Flower.
Thanks, Willow.
Wow. Thanks so much to everyone for the kind words! And many thanks to strat2caster for thinking enough of my video to recommend it to others. Reading all of these nice comments has given me a big *legal* smile!!!
This is genuine - I feel it - in the form of chillbumps running down both arms. Best John Prine coiver I've heard on the CZcams, bar none.
Simply marvelous Jordan...This is the song that made me learn to play. My roommate was tired of me requesting it at every party and get-together. Taught me to fingerpick. I now...after 30 years do the song for him. Your version is just pure original JP. I marvel at how he has adapted and changed...but this one can never be bettered. Thank you for keeping old JP around...
What an excellent rendition of a John Prine classic.... I'm glad that you have not wasted your fine talent on anything less than... I enjoy listening to your version very much.... And I'm listening from salter path North Carolina
I never hear this song, but I think is beautiful in all aspects, including the words, finger picking and voice. 5 well deserved stars.
Very well done, even your pronunciation on key words was spot on.
That is really good. I love that you took the time to pick the whole song and not shorten it. Most times when I play it all the way through I feel the listeners getting ancy. Playing it complete is true to the beauty of one of the best songs ever written. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful guitar, by the way. Pure.
Very nice! This is one of my favorite Prine songs and you have a great voice for the song. Your finger picking is very much like I recall the Prine recording too. Thanks for a great performance!
good job!! from a true Prine fan. Thanks for posting.
Many thanks, Brian. This song deserves to be played all the way thru or not at all- so keep doing it that way yourself. I've experienced the same reaction sometimes at parties (it's not a real uplifting party song after all,) but even then I've also realized that there was always at least one or two people listening intently, even if I didn't notice it while I was playing.
Please consider uploading your rendition to CZcams- I promise to listen intently all the way through!
Thank you very much! John Prine concerts are a whole lot of fun, aren't they? First time I saw him live was about 1974, and most recently about a year ago. I hope he never stops touring.
WOW. You nailed it. The finger picking is great. The voice is spot on.
Beautiful, just beautiful
Thanks for sharing your talent.
Doh! You've already given not one but two lessons! The second lesson is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much. Your covers of Prine bring me joy! If I have any more questions I will ask. Thanks again!
Very well done! John Prine is my favorite to play.
Great job. I'm trying to learn to play at the age of 48, your work is a great inspiration. Thank you..

Realy good man...I also play all his songs. Recently.
superb many thanks your timing and intonation are perfect
Thanks! If John was off to the side somewhere, I'd buy him a few beers but never play a Prine song in front of him.
I began to learn to play this song when I was 23. Now that I am 60, I am much closer to being that old man with hollow ancient eyes, it has began to mean something. I am sure it will you too.
Man...... That brings a tear to my eye. One of my favorite songs and you did it perfectly. Brings back some fond memories for this 25 year old man from Mississippi. All I can say is... Thanks.
Beautiful... Five stars...
Many thanks, Sir. I just listened to your "Katie's Song" and it blew me away.

Excellent
Great cover, better guitar than old John himself!Love the way you hammer on the Am7 and D7 chords - I keep trying but I can't do it and keep the same pattern going! I'm 67 and just picked up my old Martin 0-15 that I haven't touched in years. Never could play worth a damn but I decided to give it another go. Leevester
great job on the fingerpicking too.
Very good playing!
Good job!!!!!!!! I liked it!
@wgcbww Thanks for watching, and for the kind words!

EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! One of my favorites too and I just uploaded my cover which I play in a differnet key. 5 stars aint enough for this beautiful rendition.
Hello in There and Sam Stone are two solidly-sad songs, but they strangely make me feel happy when I sing them. It's hard to explain.
Very nice!
Great job man... lovely picking style.
You play this very well! I have your "finger picking" video as a favorite in order to learn how to finger pick the tune. As for now, I just play it with a pick. I've added a video response as what I managed to do today as what I learned from your video. Thanks.
Hey, thanks John!
Excellent!!!
Many thanks, Daryl!
I like it!
Really excellent, I like those double beats on the same bass string, not sure if that's how he does it but it sure sounds right!
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it!
Nice work!
Well done.
terrific job!
You'll get it- I'm a simple guitar guy and if I can do it, anyone can. Happy picking!
