A recommendation for baking in the Dutch oven. Put some small pebbles in the bottom of the Dutch oven and place the cinnamon rolls in a cake pan or biscuit pan and place them on top of the pebbles. The place your lid on top and do the coals. Should prevent the bottoms from over cooking.

Funny you say that because that was in the back of my mind to, although cougars generally run from humans unless they got babies, but ya I hope lfg was strapped up there.

We had a guy we dear hunt with who used a 8" cake pan with 3, 1/2" rocks placed under the cake pan. Place in Dutch oven in fire like you described. Rotate oven 3 times while cooking so nothing burns on side closest to fire. He made my mom a 2 layer Birthday cake while we hunted one morning.
Keeping cake pan off the bottom allows you to heat bottom without burning. TAKES practice!! 😆 OSG's 16 cubes on top and time is right but time depends on how hot the fire is.
I guess you will have to bring more rolls and pre made cake mix!!! Mmmm!
Man those cinnamon roll looks delicious, & I bet they were with that bacon & coffee, nothing can compare to it being out in open wilderness, OSG is a great cook, yeah love these camping vids! Keep them coming!👍

Good to see you're now using a folding shovel instead of your axe to move coals. I made the same mistake a decade ago when I started my bushcraft/wilderness survival journey. It completely ruined the temper of the axe edge. You can dip the flowers of the Dandelion in a batter & fry them up as fritters, helps with the bitterness. Pine Needles, Chaga & Honey tea is 🤤
You and Stephanie should think about writing a book or doing an on line parenting class to give these young parents out there ideas of how to make the outdoors more exciting for kids. We always took our kids camping and hiking. They learnt how to be aware of their surroundings and enjoy it not fear it. Your two children will carry that throughout their lives. My grandchildren are not learning to respect, enjoy and not fear. Love you guys and these videos.

If you ever get the chance, try filling that dutch oven with sliced potatoes, onions and maybe some cheddar cheese towards the end. SOoooo good ! 😋
Love the camping series as usual. To take your dutch ovening to the next level invest in a DO table or platform. Or else you can build a second fire ring and just move your coals form the fire to the Cooking ring As I have learned when baking in my do is is good to have even heat on top and on bottom. But form the look I would say you are doing just fine.
My husband has celiac. I found when baking, always add an extra egg, little extra butter than the recipe calls for and I use baking soda instead of xantham gum...game changer for baking.

I have many fond memories camping and bank fishing (because we didn't have a boat). At Stubblefield Lake Recreation Area in Sam Houston National Forest on the North end of Lake Conroe.

to help with the dutch oven cooking find a round cake cooling rack and place the food on the rack which will help the bottom from over cooking

Our family tradition was the women of the family did nothing they didn't want to do at camp. All cooking, dishwashing and watching of kids was done by the men of the family. We were taught at a very early age to navigate the woods, hunt, fish and do first aid. We were told to not come back to camp unless we were hurt or hungry. We were also told to not bother the wild animals unless we were going to eat it. God, I miss those days.

That pine tea fix the local honey lemon and peppermint, if you take a teaspoon every day you'll pretty much never have cold or allergy issue

I need that Gluten Free Cinnamon Roll recipe! I was undiagnosed with Celiacs Disease from 2011-2020, got diagnosed in Feb 2020. Defiently different but my gut & intestines are in much better health :)
2nd suggestion for upping the dutch oven cooking try digging a hole put fire in said hole let burn down to coals take some coals out insert dutch oven put hot coals on top and then bury.
This works best with things that need to cook long periods of time and don't let the camp drunk do this as sometimes finding dutch oven is a little hard.
Suggestion for this method is a roast, potatos, carrots, celery a couple beers and seasonings. This is obviously one of those things you need to flavor to taste as I've seen it done woth broth instead of beer and seasoning
I do the exact same thing with eggs!! Definitely nice not having to worry about broken shells in the cooler

I was born and raised in Montana. I love just pulling my camper up in the mountains and ruffing it. However, my wife doesn't like it that remote. I have to compromise and go to state park campgrounds here in North Dakota. Unfortunately, my career, prior to retiring, brought me to the flat lander country of North Dakota. It is still fun though. I make sure I pick a place with good fishing and that helps.

Mushrooms are prime in monsoon season LFG. Golden coral is a great indicator for porcinis. I assume that's what you guys were looking for. More foraging please!
