It was one of my family car back when i was a kid growing up in malaysia.. brings back alot of memories when i see one even til this day.. i thank you for this build ❤❤
Find an old Skoda or even a Fiat and put the Proton engine in it , much better lol as i cannot for the life of me stand the look of the old Protons they look uninspiring and designed in a coffee break by someone at the Proton factory.
@@christineayres7199 Designed by Japanese, actually - the Proton was based on an old Mitsubishi Lancer, as assistance given to the Malaysian government to get their domestic motor industry going.
I am moved to see your efforts to give the soul back to this Proton Iswara. Hopefully it will inspires especially the young Malaysians to continue to conserve and preserve this national car. Thank you very much Sir. God Bless you and family.
It is my most favourite car and I have a lot of my childhood memories on Iswara now I have own a 21 years old Iswara aeroback for daily use and travelling
I'm glad you've saved two of them. I remember as a kid them arriving in the late 80s as a brand and whilst using old tech they were still good value. You saw them on the roads all over during the 90s but then the brand just seemed to disappear. So please save them both.
I have you on another you tube channel with your Protons and we did get them in Australia and l know or at least one Proton ute for sale in a local car yard as these are rare in Australia l do see them occasionally even there is a couple of Proton Jumbuck utes driving l know its not one Brumby ute is because they are different colours and didn't they use Mitsubishi mechanicals from memory but it's good to see two more Protons saved
New subscriber here, due to a CZcams recommendation. I've been a fan of the Proton Saga ever since I saw the model on Top Gear at the time of its initial UK launch. Also, a friend of my family won a 1.5GL Lynx saloon in 1991, which I thought looked spectacular. Looking forward to seeing more of the cars in due course :)
@@JonCoupland I'm not sure which competition the family friend entered to win the car (possibly one run by the local Proton dealer, Westbrook Cars), but the Lynx usurped the 1990 Fiesta L which he'd bought new the year before, as he found it was better suited to his family's needs. Incidentally, someone a few doors up the street won a Renault Clio in a competition run by a pet food manufacturer around the same time.
That's a nice trailer with a driver cabin and a/c. Trailer? And good thing the guy used the steering wheel instead of using his foot to steer like the 'Flintstones'.
Yes!! Finally a follow up on K582 SVL I have been anxiously waiting since the last video looking at this car in the barn The reason I'm so excited about K582 SVL in particular is there's something very unusual about it that I'm not sure if you've noticed (You probably have, being the all encompasing proton expert) The indicators are on the wrong side!! Every other Proton I've ever seen has had the indicator stalk on the correct side, the right - while this one in particular seems to have the stalk on the left, in the more modern preferred style. This has boggled my mind for ages now, why is the indicator stalk on this side? Looking at the legend on the stalk, the little high beam icon isn't the wrong way up, so it appears to be a seperate part from the right hand stalk version, making me believe this was a factory option, rather than a bodge that a previous owner has done at some point Were you able to specify at the dealership that you wanted the indicator stalk on the left hand side for some reason??
Thats a really great observation and actually .... one i hadnt noticed. I have no idea how or why this has happened but im certainly going to go and check the others now!
Couple of scuzzy looking Protons there Jon! But they'll save a few others, or make excellent footage cleaning them up to see what is saveable and what is scrap. What will Mrs Jon Coupland think? 😮 Well I know what Mrs David Johnston would think 🤔 and it might hurt a little 😂
Already looking forward to the next one. Pretty sure there's enough solid bits on each car to make a good one, though I can't wait to see your dads reaction to all this too 😁
Was that engine carried over into the Wira? It looks pretty much identical to the unit in the early 2000's Proton Wira 1.5 I used to own. I must admit to having a bit of a sneaking fascination with the earlier Protons.
Great video! Maybe you will be better off buying a car trailer than a "truck"? You know those have a very low capacity. Get a trailer and a decent towing car, much better
Would it not with recover drivers aok be better the jet wash both down on the way home so you can see what your dealing with and which parts will be ok to use on the other one. Ps. Your more hubnut than hubnut we need a prodder next
Definitely have a car collecting disease 😂 Is there a plan, or are you just mad? I know I'd be in the doghouse if i did that. Already she can't understand why I've got 3 cars and nobody else drives in my house 😮
Amateur hour here, with the sincerest apologies to the poster/owner. Just batter the wheels for starters, that will move them, Want to know more? Oh and i've had hundreds of them. That notchy second gear? The horrible noise you get off the light//key, The pool of water in the spare wheel well, as the boot seals are always bad Don't get one with electric windows or basically anything. Rebadged mitsubishi colts. NOT a bad car, just reliable but crap-reliable.
Hi and thanks for watching and your comment Allan :) - we absolutely knew about smacking the wheels to free them off ... but ... that was difficult as sadly we didnt have a lump hammer with us where we were. That was my fault for not bringing one. When we arrived at my home, we certainly gave them back wheels a good smack and they freed off lovely and rolled down the drive. Cheers for your insight into Proton Sagas, im assuming this may be the first time you have watched the channel? I've got currently possibly the largest collection of them in the UK (check the other videos out if you can!) - and am certainly 'au fait' with the ins and outs and their quirks. You are right about them being rebadged Mitsubishi - my very early '89 and '90 cars have mitsubishi part numbers scratched out and stamped over with Proton part numbers and the Mitsubishi Logo on the air box AND the toolkit. I genuinely think you may enjoy seeing the other Proton cars in my collection :) - more Protons to come!
Why on Earth would you want to save a Proton ? They were awful cars LOL I would rather save a Corsa B than any Proton as at least the Corsa's of the 1990s were desirable , Protons were OAP vehicles even Rover i would rather have , also I had a 1997 Nissan Micra in front of me today in Bracknell it was in such a bad condition rust all over it but somehow still driving on the roads dodgy MOT i suspect as no brake lights lol , anyway i was surprised the Proton started up but please explain how you like them ? as i cant see the appeal at all LOL
