Thanks for the ormers and the shout out Smash and Sam. The kids couldn’t believe you mentioned me in your video😂😂
No problem at all mate we appreciated the scallops at Christmas! Haha bless them , thanks for watching
Great video. I want a fresh Ormer burger so bad!
I love how you & Sam look after nature (flipping rocks back, picking up trash, putting small creatures back) & then nature rewards you in abundance of seafood & crustaceans. You're all amazing! Hope this year gives you back even more blessings & joy~ Thanks for the upload as always ^w^
You two are the perfect team, Smash counts by even numbers, Sam counts by odds. Thanks guys for posting, and sharing your adventures!
Thanks Ed
Who else is eating lunch with this on
been watching for a while now and love how considerate you are to the ecosystem that you forage from and take great care over what you forage to eat!!!
all ya guides are oversized so any that fit in your guides are in by a few mil extra so def correct size!!!!
well done and keep the larrys coming
The abalone shells have value. Guitar companies and jewelry people cut em up and make cool stuff. Also, Native American Indians like myself use the entire shell for prayer.
Yeah they seem to have a lot of uses
Yes sir. Thank you for your reply!
Yes we do! 👍
Makes a good ashtray to. 😂
It is beautiful used for inlays!!!
@@timbillings6884 yes, a lot of uses. Inlays really show how beautiful the shell is.
Where is it??
My family used to dive off of the coast of northern California and get Abalone and make it just like you did. Brought back my favorite memories of childhood.
We call them Paua in my country, love them!. We have to use a flat knife to slide under shell to pop off because it's law and will get fines if you don't use proper equipment to collect and that's only because if they are damaged in any way to the lips or under side they will bleed to death and die if you find they are undersized & you have to put them back
Very interesting! Thanks for the info
It ain't law to use any special equipment in nz just don't rape the ocean and be greedy.
@@cyraxnzed578 How many times you been pulled up by fisheries? It's one of the first things they check if you have Paua on board
@@john-roywattie1483 it's definitely not the first thing they check and the only rules are bag limit size and freediving only. Although it's definitely recommended not to remove paua unless you're sure of the size as they bleed to death even from a tiny nick
@@Hmn8750 Yeah good luck with your info, see how far that gets ya
I love these lads! Accents. Foraging. Comedy. Life lessons. Keep it up gents!
You guys should make “hell yea” merchandise. I’d buy it right now.
And “Smash Fishing, baby. Woo!”
i love your enthusiam and knowledge of foraging - especially as i've never done it myself. i love to watch you guys find treasure each time! keep up the good work fella
💥hell yeah. Great to see the team work you guys put into this and even better to see a tradition being passed on through the generations. Well done for collecting for your elders too. Total respect. Drooling like a boxer dog yet again
Thanks Racheal ! We always like to do are part for people that can’t get them 👌
Nothing in the world better than catch and cook at the place of harvest❤
I'm so jealous, we have not had an Abalone season in California in years. Thanks for the fun video's.
96 ormers and a Larry! Awesome day foraging.
Love when you speed up the flattening.
Stand back everyone its an Abalone Tsunami n a tasty larry what ah day!!!
I knew that because all year (last) as Sam n Smash foraged there were tons of young Abalone clusters all over the place and 2021 Jan was Payday Baby!!!!!!!!
They must taste really nice to be in that freezing cold water, and nice to see the larries, so when there at the right size , makes many more happy days of foraging, all the best smash and Sam, look forwards to watching more great content 👍✊👍✊
Thanks for the video lads....great effort you put in to get some food, and capture some great footage...
Whoo Hoo! Ormer season!!! Ive been waiting all year for your forage. Enjoy those omer burgers!!!!!
My dad is the one who recently got me into watching your channel and I'm so glad I looked into it. I'm in a completely landlocked part of Canada so it's super cool being able to see people do stuff like this! 👍

Amazing video Smash. Nice to see you and Sam taking care of your family and the other people in the community. Thanks for sharing a guernsey tradition with us. Catch you on the next one👍🇨🇦
Thanks Timothy much appreciated mate
Your hard work is appreciated mate. Both in making the content and the actual physical work it must take to forage and fish like you do. Labour of love I suppose. Cheers
That location must be the honey-hole you found in the fall! I've been looking forward to you going there during ormer season and an NOT disappointed!!!!! You hit the motherlode to be sure! That was soooo exciting. Well done boys! Hell yeah!
It’s a great place to find them ! Thanks for watching Valerie

Well done guys what a really handful of abalone. nice exercise/foraging. Shout out from Philippines/singapore
I love these 2 beautiful people. Been 2 weeks already watching your vlogs. God bless you always. Sending love from Philippines ❤
i love coastal foraging!!
Wow this is awesome mate, the abalone picking is like our version of opihi picking in the island. It’s tasty and delicacy as well. Looks fun as it is by watching you picking and catching lobsters in the shallow water. Fun fun fun
Wow what a great day of Ormering looked fun and the cook up made me hungry!😄😄
Thanks mate it really is great fun but hard work haha thanks for watching
wonderful harvest and special abalone burger !!
Thanks for a great video guys. I have never tasted Abalone, looks lush!

That very yummy lobster and the place looks so nice.
Great video combo from our smash!! JAY AND SMASH!
Love that you fellows have such a respect for your laws and regulations....
Everytime I see a new Smash Fishing cookup video, I SMASH that like button! Wooo!
Keep calling people out, sir! The fact that some people can’t respect our superior Mother Earth and simply put their rocks back is disappointing. Keep up the good videos! They are wonderful! 😊
That's a very new Opinel! I've had mine for 20 years, still as sharp as anything.
Perfect Sunday night viewing!
Try crumbing them with crushed up dorito chips
That's how i prefer my ormering, from the comfort of my warm office! Nice to learn about some of the smaller species, keep them coming!
Haha thanks for watching
It's always awesome watching you and Sam foraging for sea food. It is so great watching how much you two care for the future of your sea life. On how use never take under size food, wether it be Abalone, lobster, even your spider crab. Just wanted to say that. 👍👍👍
Thank you ! We always try an think of sustainability as much as we can
@@SMASHFISHING Well all I can bis that both you and Sam are doing such an awesome job. When use are out foraging. And it is also awesome to see you and your Dad out on his boat as well. 👍🤗💯
@@SMASHFISHING And the native New Zealand maori word for Abalone is Paua pronounced as ( Pa-wa). Just thought you would like to know. 👍🤗💯
More underwater sequences!!!! Those are beautiful!
Great vid 🤩 , cheers 🥂 from New Mexico 🇺🇸
Next year when all this covid crap is hopefully taken care of and we all get a vacine, I am so coming over there for ormere season. I so want one of those burgers. yummy
As always you always make me hungry when I watch the ending to these videos lol one day il eat one of those burgers lol
Thanks mate 👍 I’m sure your have one eventually
You never disappoint with your videos! 👏 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Baggies. You guys need to get baggies. Pound the meat in them so no splatter in the kitchen or abalone slipping off the cutting board at the beach. Tote your pre-made flour or bread crumbs in them for simple shake and fry. Baggies.
Our California Abalone season has been closed for several years, no opener in sight,, don't let it happen to you.
Great video guys those ormers look lovely’s gotta try some some time 🎣🎣🎣
Abalone burgers look good
SMASH FISHING
HELL YEAH
👍🦐🦀🐟
Amazing bro abalone burger fresh n delicious🏆
Yes! Thanks for the upload
That was an EPIC ormer footage! Do you freeze the meat to have later in the year?
I know abalone can be frozen here usually after it is sliced.
Great forage boys
Also nice touch giving
Some away to a local lady
Respect
Thanks mate
Well done lad's !!! Absolute legends keep up the awesome content
Those burgers look delicious! Epic day foraging for sure!!
Thank you
Hell yeah Jay , been waiting for this one , great forage boys !!!
Thanks mate
Great looking burgers,we are only allowed two abalone per day here in NSW Australia, and the legal size is 11.7 cm. I'm descended from Guernsey Islanders on my mums side.
I had no idea you could get abalone here in the UK. I’m from NZ & we call them paua! We normally cook them by slicing them up in to thin slices, pan frying them in butter & onions & add cream! 👍🏾
Jay and Sam is really nice and happy, I love watching them together
Thank you
love your catch and cooks....your area is so beautiful......try a little sweet relish in your sauce mix
Great video smash I went out on Tuesday and I got 10 and I made the Burgers and they were so good keep up the great work Harry 👍👍
Fabulous video! You had a great idea! You should see if an officer would be ok being filmed and goes through the checking process for the abalone. That would be interesting to see!
I'm glad abalone are common there. When I googled them it said that they were endangered. The article didn't specify if that was in the U.K., North America, or Asia or the moon.
Dude two crushing claws that lobster is worth money!! Aquariums and museums would buy them !!
Brilliant thanks keep them coming
Cracking video lads is there a limit to how many you can take cheers smash ‼️😁
Quick tip for burgers, you know how McDonald’s buns are soft and almost a bit chewy
If you like that, toast the buns in the pan first, place them in enough foil to wrap up while you’re waiting. And wrap the whole burger up once your burgers are done and wait 2 minutes. The buns will steam through and become soft and LOVELY, learned this a while back and never do it any other way now. Now I know why five guys gives your burgers wrapped in foil
YOUR WELCOME haha keep the content coming smash!
Sound great ! Thanks for the tips
Quality video mate. You got a good haul there👍🏼
Thanks mate there’s a lot of ormers round atm 👍
Keep the vids coming boys, Smash fishing WOO
Thanks for watching
RIC FLAIR WOO
Good job you two are not vegetarians.
Big up to you two for sharing your catch to the older generation unable to go Ormering.
Looks like a good year for the Ormers.
👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul 👍 got to look after the people that can’t get them anymore
You boys slayed it today!🤙
I'm new to your channel but loving it already boys 🎣🎣🎣
Great foraging! You guys did a great job of gathering the abalone. Can you compare the taste of them to anything? Be well!
I need to try one of those burgers 🍔 but can’t get ormers here on the mainland 😢, cracking video tho jay, keep them coming pal
I make mine with onion, tomato, mushroom, cream, bacon and abalone rough mince abalone.
love the porceline crabs we get a lot of them on the gower
Looks like a peaceful life- would exchange that for vienna from now on. Right now on!!!!! :0
Put pan out breadcrumbs into your left over egg wash till it’s thick then fry it it’s bloody lovely and saves throwing the egg away.
Great haul
I could taste the ormers when you were eating it. Looks delicious
Like your knowledge of the sea life in your area wish we could forage for stuff like that in Kent but there you go so it’s back to whiting bashing for me 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You dudes are awesome 🤩 rays of sunshine ☀️ well deserved pick n mix boys 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I’ve been getting a bit paranoid that my videos give away my spots...I’m guessing this is normal round your way and not directly because of what you post.. hope so 😥😥
Can hear the forage adrenaline pumping boys
I know you are new to panko, I would like to send you some louisiana creole style fish fry and crab boil. We cajuns like food with a kick. Do you like spicy at all? The seasoned fish fry aren't too bad but the crab boil has heat the longer you let the seafood soak.
You and your mate Sam seem like such genuine lovely young men, I hope my son grows up to be just as respectful x
Every single time you cook and start eating my mouth starts watering looks so damn good
Nice haul!
Cracking vid as useual bud, the vass waders u have mate exspensive?? They decent. Thank bud
Hi Jay and Sam , Jay your channel gives me such happiness , since we been in lockdown and we are still are in lockdown also now we have a stay at home order , I have been going back and rewatching your videos , when are you going spider crab catching ?
Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated, the spiders will be coming in season in a few months 👍
