Great video Peter - resonated with me because I live in the UK and have gone through exactly the same thing as you, although at different times. My girlfriend (now wife) and I saved up and built a house in 2013, but it was much easier then because I had a fairly steady and successful career in marketing. I decided to jack the career in and start my own video production business in 2019, which was terrifying, but it's going ok... By far the hardest part of going from a salaried job to having your own limited company is managing financial uncertainty and balancing how much you earn "on paper" and how much you can take out of the business in reality. After four years of accounts, I think only now am I in a position where we could consider going for any kind of mortgage again. All the best with the build!

I know you're going to do it anyway-- but please document the studio/garage build -- really loved the previous studio builds; even if its just time lapse and minimal editing... so rewarding to see progress!

Throughout the past 2 years after going full time in video, I haven't been making much. I've had seasons of great output, and seasons where I am too lazy and not getting where I want to because of it. We have some close friends that have just moved back to Stockholm from NYC (one of them grew up in Sweden) and have been extremely happy with their decision. Thank you for sharing some details of your build. It is incredibly expensive to build a home in Sweden. In the US, housing costs have exploded as well but it is still around twice as expensive to build a home in your country (rural area/ countryside) versus the US. Assuming you paid around $25,000 for your land, it costs around $300/sq ft to build your home in Sweden. In the US, in a rural area, it costs somewhere around $150/ sq ft. How much does land cost in Swedan per acre?

Funny to say because we don't even know each other, but because you're in Sweden and i'm from Belgium. It feels more relatable and realistic since we're both in Europe.
