Cube's musical attidute is still on late 80's - early 90's. That's the time when rap-music and hiphop in general had that punk-attidute.
Grunge was on top of the world and many producers and rappers took inspiration from them; Nirvana etc and Punk-Rock. To me punk and rap had that same "fuck the world-, fuck the government attidute". Sad though to realize that hiphop doesn't have that anymore on mainstream level. You need to dig deeper to find those raw artists. Few really good exceptations but that's all.
Modern Rap focuses more on flaunting wealth, women, and how “tough” you are. You’re absolutely correct, rap has sort of lost its “rebellious” nature to it, possibly due to it becoming more mainstream and accepted in society
