  • After testing the Europe version of the game i noticed that pressing R1 + R2 does nothing and after searching for it's string, it is gone too.
It looks like that this function was removed entirely and not really intended for the final build at all (and was forgotten in the US version.)
I also found out that the music in this game gets detected on CZcams but it is allowed and no actions are needed (this is new to me).
Well at least i now know that this music's name is "Keep It Together".
The track names can indeed be seen in the credits of the game but no idea what track's name belong to what.
The music track here was "split" with "OpenVINO" an AI plugin for Audacity so i could disable some samples.
(It is actually a little shocking what is possible with AI already)

Yo just wanted to say I found a way you can get old deleted files, so maybe if you are lucky enough to be able to talk to someone who played the monstrum alpha you could ask them to get a file recovery software that will get it back, yes its possible. I have done it before, its free, and it doesnt take too long. As long as the original files were just deleted and werent overwritten it will work (Also I know this is really random but I just figured it out, so yea)

I know that file recovery is possible since a very very long time ago and even asked a few people that played the alpha if they could recover old files but they mostly already have switched to different newer/better systems and/or gave their old PCs/Drives away what is logical because who would still use their old systems from back from 2014?
There are much faster systems now.
(By the way, CZcams likes to delete comments if you just try to mention some of those programs names or companies what can get really annoying)
Alone that the game possibly self updated every time they made a new patch for the alpha makes it MUCH harder to get really old builds and the chance that someone did not have overwritten the old deleted game is very low too because a lot people just uninstall and install different games later without even thinking about stuff like that.
It has been 10 years ago.
This is a really long time even if it looks really short.
No idea how high the chance is that someone still has the game installed somewhere.
Maybe on an old PC that is left in the attic but as i wrote, the change that it is already overwritten is too high since most people just play games and don't think about alpha stuff and cut content as other people do. (I wrote this somewhere before)
Sadly it isn't as easy as it is for old Pre-Builds like it is for old Console games where they somehow get the play test builds/discs (for example E3 builds).
Junkfish had the game on their own systems at EGX 2014 so no idea if it was even possible to get those builds somehow.
And do Junkfish themselves still have the alpha (or assets of it)?
      No idea now.
They might still have the project or not.
They were able to port the ship to Monstrum 2 just a few years ago that had unused alpha stuff in it even they said they don't have the project files for it. (Heard from others)
Now the last update was done like around 2 years ago if i remember.
They also released another game and their team changed drastically.
Some of the old guys left there.
No idea if they still have this old stuff now.
The chances are there but not sure.
Well, the only possible way that you can try if you REALLY want an alpha is to ask people on CZcams that are more famous or "higher up" (or you try to become a famous CZcamsr but that can take time and you need luck) so you can start a global worldwide search. (Crazy idea actually just because an alpha lol)
Not even sure if you simply just can get access or even talk to the more famous ones because the chances are very low on CZcams alone that they reply to a comment you write.
Imagine you can give someone that still has an alpha really much money like a million.
But who would actually do that "just" for an alpha...
This way, more people would (everyone sure will) try to find it.
I myself already mostly gave up on finding it.
Asking Junkfish is useless and everyone should know that this can ban you from their Discord (i mentioned it before somewhere).
It seems no one ever uploaded the alpha to any site on the internet.
Almost all the people i asked on CZcams either don't reply (because too famous or dead account) or they don't have it anymore.
The remaining CZcams videos will possibly one day slowly disappear (well, i can reupload them but that doesn't really help)
And Junkfish destroyed their old devblog because of Monstrum 2.
What should i say about that.
The alpha seems to be dead sadly.
You can still try asking around but the alpha alone was only given out to like max 100--200? people and the chance that those still have it is really low now.

@@4KANT Yea, I want to keep trying. I know there is like a very low chance, but if I can try to get better at modelling and scripting to hopefully recreate it like I tried before, but the last time failed that is why I made the video private. I want to take time on this other project I am working on it's like a backroom's horror game (I know so original :/ lol) but after that I am hoping my skills will be better and I can 3D model the stuff and script good enough to recreate it as a mod! Now what could happen is they remove the game entirely from the steam store eventually. Which I see not happening anytime soon but if that does happen. Well then I guess it's just a lost cause. Well, I will tell you if I find anything, I will try to search the deepest corners of the internet I can (Without getting into legal trouble) to find it.
I am just hoping that I can find something, I don't know what is wanting me to get this alpha so bad or why. But I am praying to find something!

@@MonstrumReborn It can be considered as "impossible" if you try to find it.
      On the internet?
Not even sure where you want to try to search now.
I already tried that some years ago were it was a higher chance of even getting an alpha and i think i already searched the deepest corners by myself.
Most sites have old posts where they still use the old pre-alpha screenshots and most sites that host the game "illegal" also updated the game too.
The earliest version you can get is the 0.8.1 (what sadly is the earliest version you can get on steam too).
The alpha being "an alpha" only available for some people and not many knew about the game (and still don't know now) makes this impossible.
      I mean, sure.
There are people who upload games in early stages to the internet but for the alpha for this game it seems no one ever did that.
I never really saw downloads that really lead to an actual alpha.
Many sites misinform you that the "Early Access Builds" (starting from 0.8.1) they host are handled as "Alpha Builds" like there are videos that aren't alpha videos.
The game will sure stay on Steam and even if they would take it from there, they still have the full rights and stuff and if you look on steamdb you see it's the most played/favorite game on steam.
The alpha seemed to be an extra Steam game/workshop item that was given out over Steam Greenlight so that one might be gone for good. (i think i mentioned that somewhere before)
I didn't ask Steam if things like that still exist somehow so not sure.
Not even sure if you would get an answer there about stuff like that.
There should be no problem in case you actually want to mod the actual game (well, as long as it is free weirdly).
I mean if you make your own stuff as an addon they can't really prevent you from making it paid because it does not belong to them at all.
Of course if you modify something internal of the game it must be free because that still belongs to them.
I try to keep stuff free that i make for other games or uses assets from them.
I myself wanted the alpha really bad back years ago and asking Junkfish alone was a huge mistake and will be one for those who do it now again.
They changed the developers and old ones no longer exist in their team. (What maybe also explains why Monstrum 2 is so bad)
They changed from friendly to annoyed over the years what is one of the reasons why i left their Discord.
So i tried what you try now.
Searching the entire internet and asking random people who played it.
No idea if you have more luck as me had searching the internet.
You have to know literally "everyone" who was able to play the alpha and ask all of them but how do you know who played it?
And after 10 years you still need a lot of luck that that person still has their old PC/drive and the game still being installed but who would keep old games still installed when they used their old PC?
Steam Greenlight was shut down so no idea if those installs still would stay.
As mentioned if you look on the internet you will mostly just find the 0.8.1 build named as "Alpha Version".
You can try searching again and again (what i tried too often in the past).
Stuff disappears even more from the internet the longer you wait and that almost every day/week/month or year.
Even some old versions of old horror indie games are dying.
Sites that hosted the old versions of Monstrum have dead links now. (Or are 0.8.1/1.0/1.5.0 versions most of the time)
And Wayback machine is useless too because there also disappear things.
I tried different search machines and even tried it with cached sites. Nothing really helped.
There were only the V0.1, V0.5.1, V0.5.2 and V0.8.0 available public to my knowledge (with V0.5.1 and V0.8.0 being the rarest)
V0.1 can be possible because V0.5.1 was released around 6 months later (so a little time space is in between here)
V0.5.1 is possibly impossible because V0.5.2 was released only a month later.
v0.5.2 may also be impossible because V0.8.0 was released just only 2 months later. (Lots of changes in just 2 months)
V0.8.0 is impossible because it only existed for like just "a few days"? (We actually have a lot of luck that someone actually made videos at that time)
Not sure if V0.2 was an actual build that was released to the public because it is mentioned in the Update/Changes history "Oct 24, 2014" but no videos exist except the EGX videos.
Looks like they were worried to give out the V0.8.0 for free (what can be considered to look "almost final") so they brought the game to "Early Access" with the V0.8.1 just a few days later.
To list them here how rare each of them is:
V0.1 - Can still exist because the next version was like 6 months later
V0.2 - No idea if it was public but the changes say yes (but V0.5.1 was released "Oct 26, 2014" so that would be only around 2 days to the next update what means "Impossible")
V0.5.1 - Impossible because next version was only one month later?
V0.5.2 - Impossible because next version was only two months later?
V0.8.0 - Impossible because next version was just a few days later?
So the most logical version that CAN still exist is the V0.1 because there was a little more time between the next update and people had time switching PCs and there was a lot time that someone "evil" could have uploaded it somewhere.
Since the game updated the V0.8.0 is the last possible version so no idea if that would still be installed when the game was released later as "Early Access" (V0.8.1) just a few days after and V0.8.0 looks identical to V0.8.1.
I think i used too much time with the alpha to list all that here... lol
      About your game.
I can test it but i don't have no VR so not sure if it would work without that.

@@4KANT alright, I really want to try, but it does seem impossible. Also my game isn’t VR. I would love to send it to you anytime you want, the game is in the alpha stage tho lol (how ironic). So there are prob a lot of bugs and stuff. I do test my game so most of the bugs are ironed out but I do also like other opinions because since it’s my game, it’s obviously going to be biased. But I haven’t really announced my game either, 1 because I don’t really know how to go about it, and 2 I cannot make good interesting videos lol. Anyway, I don’t really know how you want me to send the game, I could through google drive, or discord. Whatever works for you.
