Please react to the original studio 1958 recording of this song by Chuck Berry. It is MUCH better than this live recording. What you have to bear in mind is that live recordings - such as the one in this video - are sloppy and under-rehearsed and the performances are not on the same level as the original.
@@lorddaver5729 But on the other hand live recordings often have, at the very least, a spontaneity and a unique atmosphere lacking in studio recordings. This one probably _was_ under-rehearsed (the E-Street band did not normally perform as a band at the time and of course Chuck Berry was a separate entity), but that's far from the case in general. (Also it goes to show what a good song and what good musicians they are when even such a recording is so much fun.) In many cases, with good musicians, I actually prefer certain live recordings of certain songs over the studio versions, because by repeated live playings, the arrangement has become even better.
John Lennon once said, "If rock & roll had another name it would be called Chuck Berry." This man is a legend who helped create rock & roll and has influenced too many artists to list. Thanks for posting!!
@@Coolrockndad He was both right and wrong with that statement. Elvis made rock and roll tolerable for white America and thusly profitable and an international export that reached white kids across the globe like Lennon - and according to himself also Springsteen. No American tv show would have broadcasted Chuck Berry at prime time in the 1950s for the simple reason that he was black.
And Berry had one of the worst reputations among rock musicians. He’s been awful with Springsteen, Richards and so many others. Mostly interested in money.
Chuck Berry is commonly credited with being the God Father of Rock & Roll. His guitar rifts with unheard of, his moves so iconic generations imitated him and his genus so forward thinking it lead to the formation of a new genre of music.
even at 73 he was still rockin in that video rockin his guitar and do the aussie R.I.P. MR. Berry thank you for the memories gone but never be forgoten
@BroReact0151 what you Youngsters fail to realize! Guys like Bruce Springsteen and other people, that you're familiar with? They maybe legends to you? But to them, Chuck Berry is LEGENDARY! HE IS, WAS, AND WILL ALWAYS BE! THEIR LEGEND!
Oh, absolutely, guys. Many moons ago I heard Chuck was playing a club, I think it was Redondo Beach or thereabouts. Was there since 4pm, Chuck came on at 11:30pm. The club was limited to about 400 by the signs. I'd bet that there were three thousand jammed in there. He played for twenty-two minutes. It was one of the best moments of my life, and I survived it!
Bruce Springsteen tells a story about when he was a young kid playing at a college in a Chuck Berry show ...he was part of the locally hired back-up band. Chuck Berry showed up about five minutes before the show started and when Bruce asked him what songs are we going to do he just said we're going to do some Chuck Berry songs...lol! So they go back a long way.
i was lucky enough to see chuck at the jazz cafe in London close to the end of his life , his guitar was out of tune and he couldn't hit all the right notes all the time BUT the vibe was massive the crowd went mad and his spoken word machine gun delivery was still there ...pure magic and class
The boss confessed that this was the worst performance he was involved in. Chuck berry didn't tell him what songs he was going to do but, the brilliance of bruce and the e street band just went with it and rose to the occasion as always
Sad many people don't know Chuck Berry. His music spread all over the world influenced many and even as we converse is travelling in outer space on the Voyager spacecraft, hopefully one day to be discovered by aliens, and no doubt influence them also.

John also said that before Elvis there was nothing. ;-)

Chuck Berry is one of the founding fathers of Rock and Roll!
Wow really, no wonder everyone was going crazy there
chuck berry had his own guitar chords they are still being used today'
Look at Bruce's face. He's absolutely mesmerized
Think of what it takes to make a legend like Bruce to be mesmerized by a bigger legend
Chuck berry another amazing legend 💙
The 50's were full of legends. Too many to list. . With a Jukebox in every Drug Store, Drive though restaurant and High School. It was an amazing time

He's in his 70s here. Performed into his 90s. Him and Little Richard created rock n roll, aye lads!
Chuck Berry is a legend.
Chuck Berry...one of the midwives of Rock and Roll!

Listen to the audience sing with Chuck Berry. Wow...
Chuck Berry invented that move. It's called "The Duck Walk "🦆🦆it's in the rock and roll Hall of fame 😊
Chuck Berry and a handful of other people, invented rock music.
it is always like that at concerts here in America.

Bob Dylan once said: I seen the future of Rock 'n Roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen....
Wrong, that was Jon Landau in his review of Bruce's second album
This song always reminds me of that amazing scene in Back to the Future.
Chuck berry and the Boss Omg
Introducing the Father of Rock N Roll and the 'Duck Walk' creator, Chuck Berry
Another live one that is worth it. Springsteen: Staying Alive live in Australia.
Chuck Berry is the original "duck-walker."
I guess you guys aren't ready for that, yet. But your kids are gonna love it.
Underrated comment
The boss confessed that this was the worst performance he was involved in. Chuck berry didn't tell him what songs he was going to do but, the brilliance of bruce and the e street band just went with it and rose to the occasion as always
This is where chuck changed keys 4 times to mess im up, and duck walked off stage and drove off boys, watch nels lofgren tell about it
Love Chuck but lets not forget that the reason this stadium is filled is because of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
I doubt it. You apparently don't know about Chuck Berry and the crowds he drew.
@@philmor1776 I agree Chuck Berry was a legend who drew in massive crowds everywhere 🙂
C'mon guys react to Bruce Springsteen Tenth Avenue Freeze Out from Live in New York.
Probably the best video you will ever react to
Old Wembley, guys

Oh that crowd was for Springsteen.
Love your reactions. Don't love you guys looking at the ceiling.
