Well a lot of people have been watching him for a long time, and through years of listening to him talk about anything except for what is going on in the game he's playing, some people can probably see where he's going with sentences like that one.

Keeping doors open so that Sips had to go through five rooms without oxygen and then making Sips walk three times the distance to make it to a room with oxygen when he's one tick away from death was peak NL.
Made me so mad
That egg contains a lot of air, air that would have helped Sips live.
What makes me so mad is if he had just moved him up to the O2 room it would have saved him.
He needs the exercise
My man forgetting to power the shields in an asteroid field is exactly the play that makes me pog out of my gourd, keep em coming egg!

Advanced Zoltan tech is having shields unpowered until they get through your green shield, since they don't do anything until then anyway. You can then have loads of power in engines so that the shield lasts as long as possible.

@@ophiss5406 It's most relevant in the late game and at lower difficulties where the capability of your ship is limited by the reactor cap so you have a have a lot of system power to reallocate mid fight. Just another way to min-max
Disagree, because once you power the shields they actually have to charge up each bar individually, which can go very wrong.

Since people seem to me misunderstanding what I'm saying here, I'll spell it out better:
1. If you have bought the 4th bar of shields as anything but one of your very last possible purchases, you've fucked up.
2. If you don't have enough reactor power for 8 engine bars and 3 shields, you're either in an Ion Storm or you've fucked up.
3. Yes, dodge is always better than shields, but if you fully deactivate your shields to power up your engines and rely on your Zoltan shield to save you, then you can take a lot of hull damage in your scramble to reactive the shields once your Zoltan shield fails as it takes several seconds for each shield bar to regenerate and you can take a lot of damage during this period if you screw up the timing. You don't want to be like NL was in that asteroid field, do you?
Get a backup battery, or temporarily depower something unimportant like the oxygen before you depower shields, it can be done but it's very very risky and I wouldn't recommend it to most.
@@KCzz15 Oh yeah, you definitely have to micro it carefully. It's still worth it though if the power can be used well elsewhere.

I love arbitrarily refusing to autofire the chain laser.
When they're trying to jump away, it's usually better to take out piloting rather than engines. It could take up to 8 damage to engines to stop them from jumping, but piloting caps out at 3.
He do be loving to get mad when things go badly
I mean have you played the game? Things can go from steamrolling to why bother in literally a second. You can get set so far back so quickly.
@@Szanth this... I started playing again because of the new FTL content, and it's un. fun. when you go from 90% hp with a full crew to 30% hp and losing 2-3 people in a single battle
@@Green-pm6wk if you’re losing that much health and crew in one battle then you are doing something very, very wrong.
@@spearmintz1 No matter how good you are, sometimes in this game, you just get really unlucky with enemies hitting just the wrong systems at the worst possible time. Things can go belly up faster than you even realize.

Protip: When you have a lot of zoltan crew, putting two zoltan in shields results in an ion immune shield. This is because zoltan power bypasses ion damage.

Wonder if NL knows you can teleport enemy crew that you have mind controlled onto your own ship and then kill them when the mind control runs out. Feels like prime warcrimes that he'd love to partake in and combos wondefulyl with his live of mind control for crew killing.

If you're going to hit shields with the beam, you should hit the shields first to reduce total shields on subsequent rooms

About the boss, It's pretty important to kill if possible the crew manning the missiles, so he can't repair it once it's down. In this run leto should have been directed always to the missiles system until the crew was dead and the system was down.

A quick tip for maximizing scrap gain: Try to hit up nebula beacons whenever possible. They may be annoying, but doing so will slow down the rebel fleet, giving you more time to explore in each sector.

I just had to tell somebody - I just finished a Kestral run and got both the 'tough little ship' and 'united federation' achievements, then beat the final stage of the boss by hitting him with a missile at the same time as his missile destroyed me (after biobeaming the crew and their AI taking over) - the victory text doesn't care if you die in the process, I feel like I should go and buy a lottery ticket today?

If the enemy will not transport into a room w/o O2, wouldn't it be best to have the crew fall back to the medbay and vent the rest of the ship? Maybe you could keep up piloting also.
7:55 So something that confuses me that NL does, he always opens both doors to space when trying to clear oxygen. Does opening both doors actually make it clear faster? I always just open one door.

NL, the game tells you if any of your equipment helps. The Zoltan shield would be too strong sadly if it protected you from every damage event
