There's something funny, and somewhat comforting, about seeing these now old gaming industry giants struggle with streaming technology like mere mortals.
Thats the first time I see John Romero, Tom Hall, John Carmack "together" and finally I get the feeling and energy when they were together. It was hard to me, to imagine just by seeing separate interviews. Tonight, seeing each one laughing on the same Struggles, same jokes... how Tom makes Carmack and everyone else laugh every single time he makes a joke. Such a great team! Thx guys, enjoyed it very much! Such a special night, thx!
I wish they'd all isolate themselves in a remote cabin and develop a real doom 3, essentially creating their own source port with modern features and new canon monsters and guns. All it would take is some heavy metal and diet Pepsi
John these conference calls are a thing of beauty to me. I love seeing stuff like this. My childhood heroes reminiscing and I'm now old enough to kind of follow along with a lot of the deeper stuff you guys are talking about. I'd love to see more stuff with old id guys and I'd LOVE to see more with you and Carmack. I know Carmack isn't the type to really be into the whole streaming thing but maybe you can convince him to give it a shot. I already see he's more..."comfortable"? Or "open" and talkative in this session versus his demeanor in the other Doom anniversary stream you guys did together.
So awesome to see everyone and hear the origin stories of id Software. I think the gaming industry can sometimes feel like a magic show without the magician. I'm glad to see more and more developers sharing their stories and their magic.
Man, you guys are all the stuff of legends. Gave us so many great things to enjoy, and stories to go with them. I may love the modern power of today's tech and how much easier things are, but this 90s era was so impressive to watch unfold all those years ago.
Yes!! Thank you all for the stream this was the best surprise my 5 year old son and I could have gotten we were just playing Doom together before I saw this!!
Dang I missed that there would be this!? Ah well will just watch after the fact! Can't wait for Hellion (and those dev streams)! Packing and shipping out all those individually autographed SIGIL 2 packages I agree can take time out of the ol' schedule, moving things forward! Thanks for everything!
Love hearing the legend from y'all directly. Want to finish some of my video game projects but focusing on financial & health situation at the moment, will come after I get to a good spot financially.
I've been writing some minor code for my Python tool that generates SVG vector images from map data in WAD files while listening to this video. Doom is alive.
While I've heard the origin story of ID Software in so many different forms, it's nice to see the three of them together. Also, I can never help myself but thinking how much John Carmack's voice sounds like Perceptor from the 1980s Transformers cartoon.
I played Wolfenstein 3D and Doom 2 every waking moment I had between 6th and 8th grade. I can't even remember how many uncounted hours I spent using wolfedit and mapedit to make my own Wolf3d games.
great stuff! but i would have loved to hear about quake also, the game that i personally played the most of and which i would argue, had more impact on the gaming industry than doom because of the full 3d and most of all the free mouse look and jumping. would have loved to hear a bit also about the "darker" stuff also about what led up to each guys departure from the company. perfect opportunity with all three in the same call. but perhaps yall are sick of talking about that or there just wasnt enough time.
I loved Keen, but Golden Axe on the PC I believe was released earlier and had smooth scrolling. Maybe not as fast paced or platformer, but it was a bit smoother than Keen.
I feel like this Wild West, fun of on the go, dare/one upsmanship of game making in the 90’s doesn’t exist anymore which made games groundbreaking and exciting in the 90’s and before. There’s probably an intelligent reason for it but idk I almost wish that was a thing now.
It still is but now it's on the indie scene. The main difference being that to make PC games nowadays don't require the same technical knowledge to create. Which in turn does influence the game design, the limitations back then did influence the game in a way it doesn't right now.

The best joke is when Tom Hall tried to distract John Carmack with an adult movie.
They should've invited Sandy. He's a CZcamsr so it wouldn't be hard.
"Struggles" not "strougles" lmao
I wish they'd all isolate themselves in a remote cabin and develop a real doom 3, essentially creating their own source port with modern features and new canon monsters and guns. All it would take is some heavy metal and diet Pepsi
thx@@rinket7779
The existence of this stream implies there will be a 66 year and 6 month anniversary.
I will be there.
Carmack's room looks exactly as I would have guessed.
It looks like the backrooms.
The stream starts at 17:45
Awesome. So awesome. Would have loved to see Sandy Petersen too.
And Adrian
Sandy Petersen, the only actual boomer that help create the "boomer shooter."
@@Igor.J.Delgado I'd love to just see anything from Adrian. he seems to like being a private person.
Love this group. Seriously you all have given me countless hours of entertainment over the last 30 years.
Long live the legends! Happy 33rd anniversary id Software! ^-^
Stream starts at 15:00
Thanks, Darius!
That is some absolute shenanigans.
Some kids had basketball players as idols, others movie stars, for me, these dudes were and still are my idols. Thank you for all you have done. ❤
Plus, most are way more humble than many other "celebrities".
Playing Doom and Wolfenstein while i listen to this.
brutal dude

Congratulations to the team and the founders of idsoftware. Probably
the most beloved founders out there…
Love seeing the old gang get together, absolutely legendary nerds
I love this company; there are two Jhons, two Carmack's, the start of cheat codes starts with "id," etc.
So awesome to see everyone and hear the origin stories of id Software. I think the gaming industry can sometimes feel like a magic show without the magician. I'm glad to see more and more developers sharing their stories and their magic.
That was awesome..so glad John C. appeared later and it really felt like a proper reunion.. 👍☺️ Cheers John (R)!
Always cool to see the OG ID Software legends
Genltemen, thank you for everything.
This was truly something special for all of us who have spent a lifetime admiring you guys and all id has done from beyond the fourth wall. Thank you!

awesome to see this much of the team talking together.
Yes!! Thank you all for the stream this was the best surprise my 5 year old son and I could have gotten we were just playing Doom together before I saw this!!
Happy 33rd anniversary! Keep the streams coming!
Thank you for doing this!
what an absolute joy was to satch this, I had a stupid smile on my face pretty much the whole time
Holy hell! I didn't know Id Software was founded on my birthday! Awesome! (I'm 30 today haha)
Happy bday
lucky
What discrete comm room of Aperture Science is Carmack hanging out in? 👀
😅
You guys are legends in the PC gaming community, for eternity and beyond. Thank you for everything.
I really like watching them talking. So many memories and clever minds. Also fun people. In 33 years we will still be playing Doom, no doubt about it.

Absolutely awesome! The Icon of Meeting!
This was so good!
long live the GOATS!
Next have Sandy on!
Thanks for this memorable stream! Great to see old members again! 🤘🏻💥🔥
love seeing these guys back together, nostalgia is a hellofa drug
Happy birthday to you id software
This was amazing
I've been writing some minor code for my Python tool that generates SVG vector images from map data in WAD files while listening to this video. Doom is alive.
Carmack is so humble it hurts
So nice to see you all together, man.
I love your Quake maps!

Get you somebody who looks at you the way Romero looks at Carmack when he talks tech

Man, I wish these three would chat about what could have been with the original Quake as pitched in Keen1. John, if you're listening?
Hey John will you check out TempleOS?
Is hellion a prequel to doom 2’s main campaign or does it take place after final doom or no rest for the living?
Speaking of Softdisk, is the source code around for Twilight Treasures? I'd love to see a recreation made under SDL
1:42:30 You have to admit that the chaingun in Doom sounds like bubble wrap popping
when are the new level design streams?
Legends
nice moment
Legends 🎉
I loved Keen, but Golden Axe on the PC I believe was released earlier and had smooth scrolling. Maybe not as fast paced or platformer, but it was a bit smoother than Keen.
Better than any lesson
can you please re-record this in 120p ?
All the legends in 360p?! What a herecy. :D
who even noticed?
s/o to DAVID L CRADDOCK 💪😎
I love Tom’s Legends Ulimate arcade in the background. Sending you lots of demonic love, guys!
At 50:56 Tom realized he should've brought more soda and switched to coffee haha!
Wolfenstien 3D and Doom are still so awesome
like a circa 2002 Verizon ad up in this piece!
"33 being a special number for some reason" - Romero confirmed free mason 😮
We're not worthy!!! Happy 33rd!
John Carmack lives in demo of his new idtech engine
ID and SNK 4 ever!

congo the movie 1995
How about 1st person and vr commander keen, but in the style of rayman in gorilla tag vr

Gaming giants...
Today I learned I am older than id software by about 3 weeks.
Wolfenstein and Doom forever!!!!
Happy Bday 🎉
Tom I love your incredible hair 🥵🥵👌🏻
IDDQD
OMG John shaved 😱. Grow it back bro!
Has Nintendo said anything about this? Or does Nintendo just stay silent for 35years
When Commander Keen remake?
Why is John Carmack the most interesting person to me? ... His walls are completely bare.
Lost everything in the divorce
@@simon_1987 Oh, interesting. I thought it was just part of his personality
@@bsedhs nah pretty sure his wife took him to the cleaners.
