In spite of other versions have their value in portraying this beautiful love story of Jane Austen, no one can impersonate Mr. Darcy as Clollin Fith! He is elegant, modest, maintains a posture of superiority and at the same time of shyness, which hardly another interpretation can capture. I love Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy!
I think he is haughty enough at the start. His face faithfully expresses the suffering of not being among his peers and wasting his time in such a frustrating company. He just starts to be puzzled about Elizabeth who behaves with such dignity and has a calm, serene expression on her face, so different from the other persons in the room.
Yes, Colin is the one and only Mr. Darcy. Lovely eyes, beautiful man, absolutely perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!! I adore him. I must confess, I´m a Firthmaniac!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say that I do believe he brings that haughtyness with his firs appearance at the lucas lodge. And i think he plays it well because he's supposed to love her but struggle to over come it, thats why although his manners are a bit cold towards her at times, his eyes give him away, and that comes to light when he tellers her he's loved her from almost the moment they met!! Well played and the best darcy ever hands down!!

Great vid! Colin is just fantastic. I read that he turned down the role the first time and he said that the casting lady (or producer or something) really thought that he was right for it so he said yes. Of course she did! He is the living embodiment of mr Darcy! There is no other. I love you Colin!!!!

Tough call between Colin Firth and Matthew Macfayden. Both superb actors, both make me all kinds of tingly. Have to give this one to Macfayden's Mr. Darcy, tho. Final scene w/ Kiera Knightly soooo romantic. But LOVE LOVE LOVE Colin Firth.

I can't agree more! I would say they are the only disappointments. Exaggeration is the problem in all three. But otherwise, I can't desire more from an adaptation for Jane Austen. Another equally successful is Sense of Sensibility by Ang Lee.

I have indeed read the book but there is only a tiny little bit at the very end talking about their life after their marriage. I am longing for a new series in which we SEE them married with their children. I know this would be fictional rather than based on a book but all of us Mr Darcy fans would love it I know.

It is driving me crazy. I wish someone could discover a secret manuscript written by Jane Austen that nobody knew about until now. It is called "the Darcys". It is all about Mr Darcy, Mrs Darcy, their children, their relatives and indeed all the characters from P and P. Were Jane and Bingley happy? What about Lydia and Wickham? Did Georgianna marry? Did Caroline Bingley recover from her broken heart? What about Colonel Fitzwilliam? But my big question is did Elizabeth live up to Mr Darcy's expectations? Given how little education she had, could that have made him grow tired of her? Was he faithful to her? Could another woman have come along who might have tempted him to be unfaithful?
