    They revealed Shield tackle already but didn't show the usage all that much so thought I should include that move, this silkbind evade move is pretty much wirefall on command.
    They buffed motion values across the board and you take reduced chip damage compared to base Rise, hopefully it performs just as good in the full game.

      Increased MVs and reduced Chip damage is a Lancers dream tbh.. Yea they could've given us some flashy move and such but Lance's kit synergies really well with Skill Swap.. Plus the option to Swap Twin Vine is already a win.. All the Counter buff stacks and gives you insane damage.. Cross Slash deals respectable damage now as well..
      Overall Lance in Sunbreak is looking really good.. If there's any wish I would want is to have Elemental Lance shine in sunbreak..

      @mayte On frontier, extreme style lance have 3 bars that fills up whenever you block an attack, activating it depending on how many charges you collected gives buffs. 1 charge is lifepowder, 2 charges is lifepowder+dash juice and 3 charges is lifepowder+dash juice+50 raw atk

      Twin Vine received some pretty good buffs though. It now costs only 1 wirebug, and boosts your guard capabilities. IIRC, the animation to deploy it is also faster.

      @@JamesNintendoTurd I can probably see myself using both then, evasion with skyward thrust so I have an on demand escape tool and twin vine with spiral thrust because you need a strong guard to use that effectively. (Edit: spelling)

      Twin vines got buffed on demo. Try it. feels better than before. Even insta block got buffed. Better than the small window we got before. Lance just feels more solid than before.

      @@Harv-E Yeah, both the spiral thrust and anchor rage guard buffs would be cancelled if you sheathed your weapon in base Rise. Unless they changed that, although the move is still useful, it's a bit less good. Not like those buffs lasted very long in base Rise anyway.

    I guess if you hate instablock God mode, then you have this, I just want the skyward thrust to not lock you in animation and be cancellable mid air, and be able to dash after the landing, but meh, we always find a way to make lance fun anyway, otherwise we wouldn't main it.

      Pretty much good if you feel like getting one stun throughout the hunt, Lance is at it's best when the monster is standing and fighting you back.
      That quick evade option was nice though, gets you out of tough spots a lot.

      @@Harv-E tried that tackle in demo with "patch", the downside is the weapon sharpness but overall we can do infinity poke lmao
      Edit: also i wonder in the future if flinch free lv3 can block big/heavy atk from monster while using tackle since in demo i always got knocked back

      They say that swapping will cancel/shorten any long animation attacks. Has anyone tried using the Skyward Thrust then mashing the swap evade?

      Instablock just feels clunky to use. Even if they've improved the timing of it, it just feels weird to press your shield button for it. Insta block should have just been a switch skill replacement for counter.

    You know what lance mains would have REALLY Loved instead of skyward thrust?
    Bringing back Enraged Guard and Corkscrew Thrust, that or healing shield for super tanking.

      That’s the worst part, Anchor Rage is both enraged guard AND corkscrew thrust combined, but extra disappointing and weak in both regards.
      I am happy they increased damage duration for anchor rage, motion values for insta block, and made twin vines actually useable, though.

    Silkbind evade? Maybe it's just me, but I'm playing lance why do I want to evade? I'm supposed to stay on top of the monster and east whatever it can throw at me. I mean I guess you can use it for mobility, but I don't think Lance has any mobility problems. Looks like just another meh still to me. It's better than Twin Vine, though that not hard to do.

      In past games, evade lance was almost always the end game lance build. Eventually, chip damage, stamina consumption, knockback and unlockable attacks outweigh or outright remove the benefits of guard skills, so evasion becomes the way to go. It also makes the weapon feel incredibly more mobile.

      @@Glorious_Mane I'm aware of evade lance. I just feel like it defeats the purpose of the weapon. From a design perspective it doesnt make sense. Im all for different playstyles but i dont think evading should be pushed more than blocking with the giant shield thats part of the weapon. It's Iike slaplance for gunlance play. Why does melee damage get pushed more than shelling when shelling is the unique feature of the weapon and literally the only thing that makes it different from its Lance cousin? I've never understood this design philosophy. This silkbind evade will make the evade Lance's happy, but for people like me that like to stand their ground, it's just meh.

      @@TaqSoto I don't think you realize how amazing it's gonna be for when you need to get out of a bad situation cause you're out of stamina or low in health. Trying to run away with a lance is incredibly hard.

      Even when you play evade lance you're still right next to the monster after the evade. This silkbind evade is more of an "o shit!" button that can cancel your animations while making you invulnerable at frame 0 with the caveat that you will have to close the gap between you and the monster again.

    I don't know how to feel about them. It's nice to have a more offensive shield move by I rather wanted to have a chargable multiple hitting thrust attack or something. like corkscrew jab from GU.

      Even a charged flurry thrust would have been nice. Maybe something like that could be a switch skill for the charged sweep where you have the option to charge up your third poke for a multihit flurry instead.

      Don't think we can that would make shield charge useless, I reckon they want us to use guard charge for elemental playstyle.
      We can go into charging attacks right after this move btw.

    You could've highlighted how the shield tackle could also be used to reset your 3 thrust combo. It doesn't move you too far, it deals decent damage, can combo into more 3 thrust combos, and you can turn it in any direction. It's a really good move.

      I felt like that can mess up my positioning a bit due to it being an advancing move, it did feel like a faster way to change direction of your attacks should've mentioned that.

      @@Harv-E it is great against astalos or even malzeno. poke poke poke, hop to side, keep poking the same spot. also you can do the skyward thrust right after you hop so you can safely position yourself under the monster and punish it. honestly i thought lance would be garbage but it feels really nice and solid

    Ok i have one more wish: Can Anchor Rage please work differently as it is now in Rise? Which buff you get is decided by the amount of knockback the blocked move would give you. So if you build Guard on your set Anchor Rage actually gets weaker because you will only get the yellow buff for the extremely hard moves like Magnamallo dive bomb for example. I think it´s kind of counter intuitive.

    honestly I enjoy twin vines enough and don't really need to sheath to often anyways. so I will probably keep twin vines, but it's a good use skill for some laser heavy match ups.

    Just wanna clarify, Shield Tackle being a parry means it doesn't care about your level of guard, like Insta-Block and Anchor Rage, right? If so, Guard 0 Lance got a *massive* buff this expac

      It does negate knockbacks on heavy attacks due to it being a parry move so more space for other offensive skills for Lancers I guess.

      I think that's the intention for this move, that Astalos beam attack can't be blocked without guard up so this moves saves us in those moments.

    Silkbind Evade is the saddest excuse for a skill. So many weapons are getting cool moves and lance just gets an evade.

      It seems that all silkbinds get put into two categories: "attack" Silkbinds and "utility" Silkbinds. Not every Silkbind is a damaging attack, some just reposition the hunter.
      You think this is sad? Great Sword just gets a move where they slide backwards.

      That tackle make you do 4 hit continously with 3 poke, like poke poke poke tackle poke poke poke tackle and yes it's deal dmg. Also the tackle can tank malzeno 1 hit atk

      @@ligaar0849 Skyward Thrust can deal pretty nice damage if you land all hits on a weakspot. Like 500-600 damage. It works best on Tetra when he ate the rocks or Astalos when his Wings are a weakspot. It's a situational move for sure but it should be nice vs big monsters that have high weakspots like wings or monsters that are flying.

    Why would they give Lance an evasion counter when the purpose of lance is to stay close and do damage? Whenever you sheath your weapon, you lose the damage buffs from anchors rage and spiral thrust so what's the point of this new skill? Just introduce a new Lance weapon at this point... Should have just given Lance the clutch claw counter from world.

    I know I already commented before but honestly, after seeing all of the other weapons now showcased on your channel... Even as a heavy Lance main... I'm struggling to stick with it after seeing what every other weapon got... I knew I was disappointed before but come on... Look at HBG, Switch Axe, the my god almighty babied to high heaven auto counter now... LS... When I saw that it was basically over... Granted I won't ever touch that noob stick but still, how can all 13 other weapons get gameplay defining changes throughout and Lance gets... This... I have 6 days to decide what my new weapon will be... I hate to ditch the Lance but getting guard dash 2, diving wyvern and then there's the evade... After reflecting, why would a Lance user want to be airborne with their weapon sheathed? Can the Lance capitalize on being in the air? Can we combo it into Skyward Thrust? No? So... Why? I don't understand where these abilities came from, what their intended uses are actually supposed to be, what holes in the Lances kit they were designed to fill and what changes to the overall gameplay for Lance they're supposed to bring to the table. I'm lost how they could have so little for this weapon in comparison to the rest. I can guarantee you Lance will still remain using Anchor Rage and Spiral thrust. Anchor Rage will be used in tandem with Twin Vine and Spiral Thrust will still be what it was. I don't see Skyward being used as it doesn't have any utility within the move like Anchor and Spiral do. I also don't see Shield Tackle being used when guard dash can leap you in multiple directions and shield charge already does what shield tackle does. Lance doesn't need an evade when you have counters on wirebug that keep your uptime active so I don't see the evade being used much either. If guard up wasn't a skill, then sure possibly but guard up is so we can just block. I don't know... Everything about sunbreak is looking fantastic, locales monsters the 13 other weapons, I'm beyond excited for everything but Lance.😭

    It's crazy that people are crying about the evasion skill. How could it possibly be useless? It's gonna be one of the most useful skills for lance period. Have you never tried to get away from a monster because you're in a bad spot with your stamina or health but can't cause putting away your weapon takes 20 years?
    Also, you can literally use it as gap closer by just turning around.

      Yeah, while i think lance can afford something else cooler than Skyward Thrust, the evade is not bad at all.
      Let say for example Valstrax goes kame-ha while u are in middle of poking. You can either be a gigachad and instablock all 3 (or 2 I forgot) hits, or hunker down and take a crap ton of chip dmg. Or now you can just nope the heck out of there.
      It sure isn't a cool skill, but pretty useful.

      I think the frustration is more that Lance is getting IG hand-me-downs that don't seem terribly thought out while LS's Harvest Moon would literally be perfect to put on Lance. Regardless of the utility of things like the new shield dash's followups, all of the new moves are just quality of life for things that Lance does already. There's nothing transformational here like what LS, SA, or GL got. It's not that these moves are going to be LiTeRaLlY uSeLeSs, it's that they're not terribly fun, interesting, or creative.

    So my concerns with Shield Tackle were true, it only moves forward. The only thing left to test is if it does more or less KO damage than Guard Dash slaps. I'm so glad Twin Vine can be replaced, even with the changes I don't like it. The extra guard will be fine for speedrunners and stuff but I run G5 Gup1 mandatory in all my lance builds anyways so the absolute evade seems really nice since we can combo it right into a shield charge from the air. All I can say is why the absolute fuck is this infinitely better than capcoms trash trailer? lol... HeY tHeRe HuNtErS, HeRe'S LaNcE nEw SkY pOkE mOvE oN tHe ThIcKeSt SkUlL lul, HoPe U lIkE... I shouldn't be so mean but really... Come on... At least Lance will have some new tech to use but I still wish we got some taunt mechanic like how the Behemoth fight worked in world or maybe give the Lance a wound like the clutch claw had. That way the Lance would be a lot more viable in Multiplayer, add to the hunt as a tank and damage bonus to a party, otherwise right now Lance just exists for those of us that play it.
