This disease should be studied more and more hospitals should be treating this disease because my top hospital in my area Pennsylvania geisinger didn't even know how to treat it .. and they misdiagnosed her for years so when they caught it it was too late it already attacked her body too much now she's gone rest in peace mom ... Born 1957 - passed on 4-6-2020

Sorry to hear you lost your Mom. It is difficult to diagniose cardiac sarcoidodis, and to save the bother and expense of a heart biopsy to prove sarcoidosis, some places ( like my area) simply ignore the possibility that sarcoidosis may be the cause of arrhythmia of the heart and proceed as if it wasn't there and couldn't be treated with ant--inflammatory drugs like prednisone.

Cardiac MRI should be done on every Sarcoidosis patient within the first year to rule out Cardiac involvement. I'm talking about those patients who are very sick and put on steroids and immunosuppressant medications right away.
You have to look further than pulmonary involvement.

My uncle was the same, they initially thought he had cancer but it turned out to be the less fatal strain. He told Dad years ago his sleep apnea wasn't even looked at until he checked into the hospital in 1994 wheezing.

    Great tips! Thanks.
My pulmonary-involved 'Sarc' prescription for methotrexate (15mg/wk) lapsed months ago. I had been procrastinating a checkup w/ my specialist at UW over the winter. Developments since then have not inspired me to visit a pulmonologist in Seattle.
But all signs indicate I'm doing well as is for now.👍

Dr Sporn, what do you think about the apparent correlation between BCG vaccination patterns and severity of covid disease in various countries? Could granulomatous diseases , in fact, protect against covid by inducing long term tolerance or damping to inflammatory events?

Could exposure to COVID19 cause sarcoidosis? I was exposed to COVID19 confirmed patient 3/13/2020, was fatigued, allergies, mild cold symptoms since then, started having shortness of breath 4/1/2020, diagnosed sarcoidosis 4/15/2020. Swab was negative. Could I potentially have had asymptotic COVID19, triggering sarcoidosis? Could I potentially have antibodies showing the virus caused this condition? Would this be worth looking into?

I have got stage 2 sarcoidosis in my lungs. I asked my physician if I'm at risk from Covid-19. He says it's a light risk and I should take a flu vaccine and I will be ok. Is this a standard recommendation?

Not at all.... lol they try to get everyone to take that... never have in my life... google complications of the flu vaccination... also look into the Canadian study that proves it doubles your chances of getting the flu the following year because it weakens your immune system towards it

I saw this thing that making a mask out of a vacuum bag filters like 86 percent of microbes from getting in. Maybe such a mask would be better than a cloth mask when going out
      ..
I'm taking Zinc citrate at 30 mg a day because I know zinc helps slow virus replication
