    Unless the Brits are using a toothpick to dispense their mayo, there's no way it's only 6 calories. It's a mixture or eggs and oil. Any measurable amount of either of these would be more than 6 calories. I just checked in my fridge. I have Mayo made with olive oil and it's 50 calories per tablespoon serving.

    Mayo is just oil and egg yolk, which is pretty much just fat and more fat with some protein thrown in, so it should have a hefty calorie count. I have to wonder what they're passing off as mayo over there.

    • @Wiley_Coyote
      @Wiley_Coyote Před 2 lety +2

      Yup. Ironically the US gets dumped on in these Food Wars as all chemicals. But in this instance it sounds like the UK might be even worse. Of course the US version probably also has tons of preservatives, even if also legit oil and egg. Even a "healthier" oil like Olive or Avocado is still going to be calorific.

      Kraft Light Mayo is a common brand in the UK (also in the US too, although not nearly as much as Hellman's or Best Foods mayo). Its 35 calories per serving, not 6. Here are the ingredients. water, soybean oil, modified food starch* sugar, maltodextrin*, vinegar, contains less than 2% of salt, natural flavor, egg, lactic acid*, mustard flour, phosphoric acid*, dried onion, dried garlic, beta-carotene* color), potassium sorbate* and calcium disodium edta (to protect flavor). Now imagine what further changes are needed to go down to 6 calories.

    There was a similar thing at the stadium of, I believe, the Seattle Seahawks football team involving the sizes of their beers. A small beer was served in a short, wider cup and the large, for several dollars more, was served in a tall, skinny cup. Both held exactly the same amount. They poured a small beer from it's cup into the large one and it filled it exactly to the rim.

    9:10 The American whopper is only 33 calories more than the English while the American fries is actually 7 calories less than the English. The real culprit is the soda. And that doesn't even tell the real tale of the tape cause we also give in-restaurant diners unlimited free refills. So the maximum calories, if you're downing all the soda, is infinite.

    One thing I’ve noticed about Burger King in the UK is that they don’t really change the sizes of their burgers like McDonald’s in the UK does. The taste is similar too. On the other hand, McDonald’s might as well be a completely different restaurant.

    In my local Burger King if you ask them to cut something (like the Mayo) but when I ask for mustard as the dressing, the people behind the counter get blerrie-eyed. They carefully build it because they aren't used to such a thing. Then they get it all wrong. The cut everything besides the mustard and you have to send it back. Then the people start having nervous facial ticks & put everything back on with extra ketchup. It really is sad to see. I have stopped going to BK because they just can't handle anything not on their assembly line procedures. I have tried some out of town it was about a 50-50 shot of getting what you ask for.

    Burger King in the US is worse than McDonald's. Interesting to hear its the reverse in the UK. It probably also used to be the reverse in the US too, during the 1970s and 80s, but changed after that. It actually WAS British owned (a company called "Grand Metropolitan") during the 90s and early 00's. Burger King has better sandwiches. McDonalds has better fries, or at least they did when they gave out crushed salt which is vastly better than granulated for fries. I actually keep a bottle of crushed salt in my car's console for when I stop by fast food drive throughs, and I encourage everyone else to do so. Try it: order fries from any fast food place and separate them into two piles. Sprinkle one with regular table salt and the other with crushed salt and taste the difference.

    There's no way Mayo is 6 calories. Even the "lite" versions would usually be like 15, unless the serving size defining things is being messed with. It probably tastes like Poop as a result.
    And no... Impossible is not lab grown meat. Its soy, potato, coconut oil, sunflower oil, and food starches/binders. The one lab component is something called "heme". It sounds gross but actually isn't. They extracted DNA from Soy and put it in Yeast. Yeast can be mass grown easily. This IS a GMO but not dangerous. The heme (a very unfortunately gross name) acts like blood in meat. We don't usually want to admit it, but that's what makes beef taste good.

    Most drinks are cons. A lot of businesses will use different wider shaped glasses/cups that appear bigger but fit the same amount as a smaller size. Also you have to ask for no ice otherwise they deliberately add more ice to larger sizes to give the illusion your drink is more when it may have less of the actual drink than a smaller size. So many businesses should get their asses handed to them for these dishonest tactics.
