    I am literally experiencing this effect with Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness now.
    Whatever happened to freedom of speech? I don't think it is a very good game. I think it is decent but below average. According to other comments I "obviously have not played the previous Star Ocean games" or I am "obviously not a true JRPG fan". It honestly is really irritating that pointing out a games flaws (like jerky cameras in the battle system, and that you must resort to spamming battle skills) just get dismissed as "nitpicking and hating" because fans do not want any negativity. I am not telling you what you should or should not buy. If you are having fun with the game then more power to you. I am saying that if you can't handle any constructive negative criticism of a game without lashing out at me then this is the wrong mentality to have. This isn't some la la land where all the games you love are objectively the best. Grow a thicker hide.

    I don't care how bad the voice acting of English dub is still would go for English because I fucking hate constantly looking at the subtitles instead of the actual cutscenes

    Yes: Its a hardcore Rpg, if youre into completening games this might be one of the hardest Jrpgs around.
    Its just completely overloaded with items, crafting, cooking, what ever.
    And those battle Trophies, ... come on!
    Whoever platined this gets a warm&wet handshake from me :D

      What the fuck are you smoking? Weak story?

  • @CavemanFilms
    @CavemanFilms Před 14 lety +1

    The story is large, it has 7 anime cutscenes scattered throughout, and a few only unlockable when you have the right combination of characters in your party. Story-related elements are narrated by an exceptional cast, and the graphics are high-resolution 16-bit (blurred) sprites for each characters, movements are fluid and the battle-systems' in real-time, much like Last Hope. It has tough puzzles later-on and a lot of backtracking, and it's moderately short, lasting about 27 hours. I enjoy it.

  • @CavemanFilms
    @CavemanFilms Před 14 lety +2

    @ZeitgeistReview It's good, but it suffers from the same problems as The Last Hope, or should I say vice-versa. As it's a remake of the SNES game, it has an "overworld" map, where you can save anywhere at any time (as long as you're not in a battle), however, when you enter towns or dungeons you will rarely find a save point to save your progress. Many times, I've had to leave a dungeon halfway just to save my levels and items I gained in the area.

  • @AstralFrost
    @AstralFrost Před 8 lety +5

    This game has held up better than most from last gen. In the overall, I'd say it's better looking than Integrity And Faithlessness. That's not to trash that game, it's just that this game is so beautiful.

    if you watch you tube videos of people platinum-ing the game you'll see 700+ 1000+ hours of investment in their save data. I'm just 113 hours into the game, with that time I have 31% Battle trophies, 40% item creation, 66% treasures, 58% monster data and 50% quests and shop orders. The game is huge.

    @WarblazerTM Well the first temple simply requires you to find a bunch of glowing stones that you place into some stone structures, so they move. The second requires the use of plastic explosives to blast through all of the exits. You might also need to know that in the second temple, you will gain an electric ring that needs to be charged before use. You charge it at a control panel that has lightning shooting out of it

    I've always been a huge fan of the Star Ocean series; from the first one (SNES) to the last....and though I've decimated Star Ocean: The Second Story (PS1), I've yet to do the same forStar Ocea: Till The End Of Time (PS2). These games are INCREDIBLY long with TONS of replayability. There are so many secrets, sub quests, alternate characters, alternate endings... This is one of those games where its lifetime spans months, if not years thanks to its enormous content. Love it.

    "many" of us wont like it? its now on the PS3 which its prequels were made exclusively for the PS2 and PSx so dont dare say the PS3 owners wont love to play last hope as we've already played the first 3 games to come out. by the way? if you don't grind or run into EVERY enemey on the field between save points you'll reach the next save point fairly quickly enough so you can trackback and grinde some more before continuing on.

    If you think "Happy Tree Friends", it totally works. I know Happy Tree Friends doesn't have a "dark story" but it's sadistic and gory sense of humour juxtaposed with cute visuals make the show all the more unnerving. It can come off the same way with this game and can work really effectively, but to each his own.

    Yes! it's a very enjoyable game even for first time RPG players. I'm saying this because the gameplay doesn't feel like the generic rpg that newcomers tend to stay away from; but the feel of fantasy and role playing progression are still there, but with hack n' slash action instead of tactical combat. Now if you were thinking of turn based or a more traditional rpg experience. Then I'd recommend FF1-10 FF13 or any of the SMT: Persona games.

    @brandonsexywhitaker Yeah, like on any star ocean it's all on 'roak' xD You need to complete 2 quests for unlocking it though.
    1. After you did the purgatorium, go to the colosseum and talk to the red haired girl, now go to the next part of the town and enter the item shop and go up the stairs,
    2. Talk to the girl standing besides her bed (make sure to have a red herb), and continue to spam talk her. Eventually you'll have her quest completed if you had the red herb and she'll go to the arena

    Great review i gotta get this game. Have you ever played a old ps2 game called Radiata Stories if so do you have any recommendations for a ps3 gamer?

    it's bizarre to go from Dan's league of legends videos to these.. i have decided to separate these two completely different entities for the sake of my continued mental health.

    Very good review. I totally want this game. I played through star ocean 1 and 2 when i was in highschool and missed the third part since i didnt have a ps2. I am really expecting a lot from this game.

    @VayuPurana Chill, I only did that when I first started reviewing over a year and a half ago. Not every game I finished, and that was only a couple. This particular title I did finish on the PS3 version.

    Great review, you hit all the points on the head and i totally agree with you on this one. I finally picked this game up after my search for what we consider a hardcore rpg for the ps3 and i couldnt be happier. Graphics aside(not that important, this game puts FF13 to shame.

    So basically it's like Xenosaga....a long ass movie over a game. Not an insult.
