This train is like "sure, the shinkansen is fast, but I have stoves!"
And I love it.
Being on this train in the winter, with the snow falling and a hot cup of tea would be so nice...
I would like the trip to start near sunset and go into the night, for maximum glowing-coal cozyness.
That stove brings back memories of being a kid in Michigan. So long ago
I just wanna say that your videos, plus Abroad in Japan and DancingBacon have all helped me cope with this past year. All of them just make me want to return to Japan and take it all in person. Thank you for your videos!
Now i need to check DancingBacon out.
I will never go there but I also thank you for these upload's.
Such a great step back in time ❤️! Almost the Japanese version of an “old west” train in the U.S., except the old trains here are steam-powered (I’ve been on a couple of them in Colorado). In contrast to the space-age shinkansen, these trains look a little more “lived-in”. Love it 😍 - wish they had steaks to cook on the stove.
Just googled this train because I can't read Japanese and it turns out this ride only lasts 45 minutes, so this looks like a great idea for an activity for a day trip.
I have always been envious of Japan's rail system and public transit system. It may not be the fastest everywhere, but the fact that I can, as a visitor to Japan, access the majority of the country without a car or taxi is amazing. Here in Canada, visitors either need to rent a car, take a taxi, or be on a tour bus to really see much outside of our major cities.
Whenever you travel in your videos, I like to follow where you go on google maps. It gives me more of a sense of time and progress.
Your videos are so relaxing to watch! I really enjoy that you don't heavily edit the videos or put music in the background. The real sounds of the environment make for an authentic and calm atmosphere. I hope you keep making more videos!
Best part is wooden flooring and vintage interior of train.
How very awesome to experience this with you! Thanks so much for everything! :)
Many smaller train stations in Tohoku have those stoves for during colder months. They're awesome. :D I lived in Akita for 7 months and the stations near me had them. Small waiting rooms with old fashion heating stoves. Have yet to be in a train with a stove though. :D
I love trains. 👍❤
2:21 remind me of 5 Centimeter Per Second Movie when Takaki and Akari met for the last time :)
Stoves in waiting/rest areas are quite common in the colder areas of Japan.
That’s it! I was digging through my anime to find that. I knew there was a scene in something I owned. Thanks.
Exactly my thought too
My thoughts too!
I like those old style tickets
So awesome to watch especially as we have nothing like this in the UK!
Really? I would've thought a heated train service like this would be popular there especially during the long cold winter months.
@Just Another Guy there are plenty of old trains and they are plenty warm enough, probably warmer than this one.
That is the purpose of life.
To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, To gain all while you give, To roam the roads of lands remote: That's offer your travel video.......thank you!!!!!!
Bonjour de France. C est toujours avec plaisir que je voyage avec vos vidéos, j apprecie la façon subtilement sensible que vous avez de filmer.

YAY! More trains in the show!
When the video started i think "this is not so interesting"... japanese people always can surprise me. Liked.
Meanwhile, in New York City, every subway car smells like grilled dried squid all the time.
Mmmm, lovely😆
Or dried piss and sweat.
@@_Just_Another_Guy If one is lucky. lol
Holaaa desde Gran canaria , aquí también se comía mucho el calamar seco . Espero poder visitar pronto Japón. Un saludo
It looks so beautiful 😍 A cozy train ride in the winter is always nice!
Seems weird, and quirky, but also interesting.

When the latest and greatest easily amazed people, something old-school and classic like this surely also has its own charm. Japan really is one of the best country to fully experience train life.
First time I have seen such train with coal stove. Thank you for the presentation.

😆👍 The surume on the stove looks alive! I can imagine the smell in the car, I miss the salty taste and hard chewiness of charbroiled dried surume my grandmother used to do. Thanks for sharing your video, greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷.
What a nifty experience for you. Thanks for sharing :-)

Great!!
Rustique mais néanmoins très charmant !!! :-)
Love your videos! Quick question though, would the whole car smell of dried squid? I would hate to travel to another place and come out smelling like squid from my train. Cheers!

LOVEEE your vid!! continue posting videos like this!!!
This train looks like fun, in a cold snowy, winter setting. But I’ll reserve judgment, considering the odor of the coal, the burning squid, and the rocking of the train all combined. Just as well it’s a short ride.
3:58 we call that "Juhi" here in Indonesia
Love your channel! It’s like we are there with you. Thank you from Canada
I lived in Aomori for 3 years. I regret never taking the stove train. I did get to ride the railbus though.
なんかいいな~
Very good!! did you use stabilizer?
its like from the golden age of railroads
More Food and Snacks Pls.
I love trains, but I've never been on one. 😢
Oh so sad....
Amazing, carboard tickets as I've not seen for at least 30 traes.

They actually bake dried squid on the train??? I wanna see that.

Love it 😍, very classical
So beautiful... sounds like so much fun. :) Is it a daily train and how do you return? Can you just buy a ticket back to Aomori?
I miss the onigiris!
I would imagine this is what the inside of the Mugen Train would be like
