Such a great step back in time ❤️! Almost the Japanese version of an “old west” train in the U.S., except the old trains here are steam-powered (I’ve been on a couple of them in Colorado). In contrast to the space-age shinkansen, these trains look a little more “lived-in”. Love it 😍 - wish they had steaks to cook on the stove.

Just googled this train because I can't read Japanese and it turns out this ride only lasts 45 minutes, so this looks like a great idea for an activity for a day trip.

I have always been envious of Japan's rail system and public transit system. It may not be the fastest everywhere, but the fact that I can, as a visitor to Japan, access the majority of the country without a car or taxi is amazing. Here in Canada, visitors either need to rent a car, take a taxi, or be on a tour bus to really see much outside of our major cities.
Whenever you travel in your videos, I like to follow where you go on google maps. It gives me more of a sense of time and progress.

Many smaller train stations in Tohoku have those stoves for during colder months. They're awesome. :D I lived in Akita for 7 months and the stations near me had them. Small waiting rooms with old fashion heating stoves. Have yet to be in a train with a stove though. :D
