the wano animations are honestly so sick, but I wish they did more with the middle break animations, like showing more of the characters instead of just Luffy
they have been different during the Oden flashback, I imagine that they might have new ones starting from this point as well since the flashback is over
true, but since the flashbacks mini arc was focusing on oden, whitebeard, and roger, they had to show off the parallels, which luffy was the most fitting.
I'm almost positive starting next episode we'll start seeing new eyecatchers (the break animations) featuring everyone else besides Luffy and Zoro

In 2012-2016 you guys were the studioâs response for ruining One piece and dragon ball in my eyes
I believe toei has a much larger staff than other companies, so they don't have their entire staff work on every episode. they give different episodes to different staff, as well as sometimes give it to freelance animators for important scenes
The biggest issue for them was trying to animate both Dragon Ball Super and One Piece weekly, especially when it was the Tournament of Power arc in Super. The animation there was great but everything else dipped in quality considerably
I may be wrong but i feel like one piece is the only anime they are working on right now if they can animate alot of eps in this quality
They are working on many anime right now (one piece, digimon and dragon quest and maybe some more). Toei just improved as a studio (they are the richest anime studio after all)
they took like 5 months to animate before we could see the first episode of this arc, so yeah idk.

I've never had any problems with the animation for One Piece since I started watching, and that's not going to change now. But you can really tell that Toe upped their game on this arc. It almost makes me wonder if they were saving their skills for this arc in particular since the Punk Hazard arc started.
No. Not how that works. A lot of names in modern one Piece are pretty old faces. There was just a change in what appears to be work culture. By that I mean bring in webgen animators and whatnot to modernize the look of One Piece.

One Piece is goated đ Idc what anyone says. 25+ years and the story has not died and has showed no signs of dying anytime soon! Every arc gets better and better along with the animation too!
Wano has been such an amazing arc, its had its slow moments, but when the action and plot do kick up, they kick straight to a 10/10.
The Rooftop of Onigashima is actually going to be the greatest animation of any shonen anime of all time. Those 7 on the roof are going to look better than they ever have before.

But even long running anime can occasionally have some episodes that have higher quality than seasonal anime. Take Dbs ep 130 or Boruto ep 65 and 189 for example, there's not a single episode of Mha or Jujutsu Kaisen that's better animated than those 3 episodes.

The Rooftop of Onigashima, aka Rooftop Piece - Luffy, Zoro, Law, Kid, and Killer vs. Kaido and Big Mom is probably going to have the best animation One Piece has ever seen. It'll be a long wait, but we're going to see it animated sometime around January 2022.

As usual this isn't a case of the series having a big budget. Most anime, no matter how good the animation is, generally have about the same budget. What matters most is the talented staff working on the shows. With powerhouses like Takeshi Kojima on board it's no surprise this arc would have some fantastic animation.

@@momoz4427 That sure is an important factor as well! But even with more time you can still get a rather average series albeit with more consistent art. No disservice to the average animator but not everyone can stand among legends like Hakuyu Go, Kiyotaka Oshiyama or Yoshimichi Kameda.

Not fully true. Budget is a MASSIVE factor. You say all that matters is the skill of the staff, but do you know how you get skilled staff? You pay them. How do you get them to work hard and for countless hours? You pay them. The famous animators that come in and help for fight scenes or other key moments, cost a lot of money. The higher budget, the more often you can do this. Saying budget doesn't matter here is stupid and saying most anime have about the same budget is even more stupid.
Wano animation is some of the best animation for anime ever.

Honestly I have nothing but praise for the animation style of of the Wano arc. To be able to push out movie quality episodes every single week is a feat that I have literally never seen done in any other weekly anime before. Like Iâm so happy Iâve stuck with OP this long to see it evolve into something thatâs just down right beautiful. I feel like Oda and his team felt like if they needed to go ham on any arc it would have to be Wano because itâs the island in One Piece that represents their homeland of Japan and boy did they do it justice. From Luffy and Zoro fighting Hawkins, Luffy and Kaidoâs bout, Zoro taking out the shogunate, Odens entire backstory, The battle on the ocean leading to Onigashima have all been top notch animation. Then we canât forget that Ms. Ishatani went above and beyond for Queens concert in the recent episode. Like Iâm so happy with Toei and what theyâve been providing for us to enjoy and itâs all just so complimented by Odaâs superb writing and world building. I knew when I made One Piece my fav shonen that it was for a good reason.

Itâs unbelievable. I remember watching everything after time skip, and all I could think was how bad the quality of animation went down. But after watching the current wano arc, Iâm so excited for more one piece anime I can hardly contain myself. One piece is and always will be the best!

The Wano Arc has also seen industry powerhouses like Bahi JD and Takeshi Kojima working on the series. It all depends on whether they can get talented staff with the right conditions.
