  • Last year, Boveda updated one of Charlie Minato's favorite humidors: the Boveda Large Acrylic Humidor. The 2021 version features a flat wood and less acrylic.
    Charlie Minato gives his thoughts on which version is better and whether you should but it.

    I watch a lot of cigar related videos and find your approach very refreshing. It seems too many reviewers feel the need to inject their own personal “spin” and peculiarities, most of which I find tiresome and annoying. Thanks for the straightforward delivery.

    A significant benefit of the new design is that these humidors can now be stacked vertically should additional storage be desired without incurring any increase in terms of the total footprint.

    Just picked one up on sale from JRcigar. It looks nice, heavy cedar smell, and overall well worth the $127 I paid after using a coupon. The only two complaints I have are minor blemishes in the edges due to production issues and how the lid fits. On one side the lid lifts up very easy but the other side is so tight it lifts the entire humidor trying to open it, even when full of cigars. I believe this is due to dimensions vs the magnet strength. Would still buy again at that price but definitely not over $150.

    Northwoods has taken over the boveda acrylic humidor project. Bought one recently, and it holds the humidity better than what you have mentioned here in this video. I'm thinking they made slight adjustments and improvements. There was no actual smell. I dont see any glue issues, so I'm quite satisfied with my Northwoods Acrylic HUmidor by Boveda. Do a review on the new one. I'm sure you'll see noticeably that they made slight improvements.

    Hmmm... Excellent review thank you. I live in Australia where literally everything to do with cigars is just difficult. However, I have purchased a number... 5 actually, of the Prometheus wooden humidors. The Boveda packs (65%) are lasting me at least 12 months (with the cost of cigars in Australia I am not a big smoker so the humidors are being accessed probably once a week or so.) I have had no issues with them at all and they are beautiful scattered throughout the home.
    I have seen many of these Boveda Humidors in varying homes in KL, Singapore and Dubai... Interesting... they do look rather nice in the right, contemporary, styling.
    Your review is very much appreciated...
    Have you done anything on the Prometheus line-up?

    I don't understand why that would be a bad thing to use one tray as it imparts cedar into the cigars a person would be storing when people use wood humidors that are lined with cedar inside & contain one or two trays. I've been watching a channel where a guy builds custom humidors that are 100% made of cedar from the outside to the inside. I'm genuinely curious about a possible new movement against using too much cedar. Did I miss something?

    Are you sure its not sap? I have seen cedar with sap stains. Not saying it cannot be glue, and I agree that tray should not have passed QC. Also, you make too much of the seasoning. I did not season, I put the three packs in and went forward. Most cigars ship in cedar so you are way too picky to say the cedar will change the taste. Takes years. Also aesthetics is meaningless in this case once stacking was possible. Especially from a sales perspective.

  • @eriknash8783
    @eriknash8783 Před 2 lety

    Why wouldn't Boveda just throw a couple humidity packs inside and seal it up in packaging? This way, it is being seasoned while it sits on the shelf waiting to be purchased. That said, I would never buy this. For $500, I can buy a Cigar Cooler and several tupper containers to throw inside that cooler. This is how I store my cigars at home. I use the thermo-electric cooler with shelves to control temp, and then I have a bunch of tupper containers inside that have Boveda packs inside them, with my cigars and a few Spanish Cedar sheets inside the tupper. This way, my cigars are temp controlled and RH controlled without having to stress over maintaining RH throughout the unit.

      Because there is no telling how long it will sit on a shelf. It comes with 3 60g packs. I wish they would sell without and lower the price as I dont use the 69% that is included. I use 65%.
