    One of the most remarkable performance in bc history.
    I have never seen any horse make that much ground in bc races other than zenyatta before today.
    Classy ride from gryder and magnificent performance from the horse.

    Really glad to see this old warrior get the win. Calidoscopio is a unique horse and has an unflappable attitude, which definitely helped him in the unfamiliar environment today. I heard someone say "...this horse can run all day." That was the selling point on Calidoscopio for me. American horses simply aren't bred to do this, and quite frankly look sad straggling around at this distance. Calidoscopio showed them how it's done. Excellent race.

    US TB racing desperately needs more graded races of this type of distance. Thats the only way to balance out our speed biased horses. It will lead in the following generations to more stamina and more importantly more soundness! It will create a market for horses who either need more ground and or later maturing types. We must not neglect the stamina type TBs,they will only help the future generations of TBs!

  • @purplepinto
    @purplepinto Před 11 lety +1

    Why do the jockeys race so unnecessarily wide during the first part of the race? I've never seen that sort of riding down here. It's completely unnecessary covering that extra ground without cover, especially in a long race.

    Sense of Purpose sired by Galileo(Sadler's Wells) going nowhere on conventional dirt and pulled up. Fame and Glory sired by Montjeu(Sadler's Wells) going nowhere on conventional dirt and pulled up. The Sadler's Wells bloodline, dominant it as may be over middle distances on turf just isn't conducive to running on conventional dirt at all, and we've seen it happen on a few occasions over the years at the Breeders Cup. Galileo himself ran in the 2001 Breeders Cup Classic and finished a well beaten 6th of 13 behind Tiznow and Sakhee. Another example of the Sadler's Wells bloodline running rather disappointingly on conventional dirt at the Breeders Cup was So You Think(High Chaparral-sired by Sadler's Wells) finishing 6th of 12 in the 2011 Breeders Cup Classic. The Sadler's Wells bloodline has produced a number of winners on turf over the years at the Breeders Cup, but his bloodline has performed poorly on conventional dirt over the years at the Breeders Cup.

    If you analyze the race. They were going way to fast to begin with. 2 of the european horses had to take out their sticks less than midway the race and since aaron had his horse going a bit slower at first in the back, he was able to get back into the race once the other horses ran outta gas

    Por que no van a correr en Brasil hay mucho fondo inclusive mas que en argentina pero no viajan Mr Nedawi podria haberla ganado perfectamente,sabiendo que los ringos estan para la velocidad no para las carreras de distancia

  • @CharlesOlney23

    I found it funny when the presenters before this race were saying that 14 furlongs in such a massive test for a horse and that the jockeys have to be really fit and capable to ride this far. I thought, I wonder what they would say to Daryl Jacob if he was there telling them how he won the 36 furlong Grand National aboard Neptune Collonges jumping 30 fences in the process. huh.

  • @reallytalldwarf

    @CharlesOlney23 Před 11 lety

    Jockeys are jockeys. Grand National winning jockey Graham Lee switched to flat riding this year and has won many a sprint. It's a but funny that 14 furlongs is thought of as a big stamina test for a jockey over there. I mean I saw some great rides during the meeting but I think we're allowed a chuckle at that comment. I'm no jockey but even the Ascot Gold Cup is 20 furlongs.

  • @GBeret83
    @GBeret83 Před 11 lety

    Sad to see a horse as classy as Fame and Glory has been end his career on a note like this. Surely Aidan O'Brien knows by now if he ever want's to win one of these Breeders Cup races on dirt he's got stop sending over horses sired by stallions from the Sadler's Wells bloodline, I.E., Montjeu, Galileo, High Chaparral, etc....He needs to go back to that Storm Cat bloodline he used when he very nearly won the 2000 BC Classic with Giant's Causeway. The Sadler's Wells bloodline screams turf. JMO.

    I'd really like to see the BC committee add a Turf Marathon race to the agenda. Each year the dirt Marathon draws 2 or 3 European horses who have no pedigree whatsoever for dirt and they end up running poorly. Case in point, Fame and Glory, a 5-time G1 winner of such races as the Irish Derby & Ascot Gold Cup, the best horse in this race by a street, but didn't handle dirt. A turf marathon would give US turf horses not running in the BC Turf a shot, plus it would draw top European stayers, also.

    • @BitterBosh
      @BitterBosh Před 7 lety

      GBeret83 I agree, especially considering the BC want to be seen as a "Worldwide Championship." I love seeing the European horses come over to America & vice versa.

    I didn't realize the did that to George Washington, they did the same thing to Starspangledbanner in this year's Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint; how could they expect the horse to be ready? Coolmore is pretty cold hearted, it doesn't seem to matter what they did for them in the past, they want those poor horses to work for their supper dammit! I am slowly developing a dislike of that organization.
