On this raw day in our lives here along the coast, we work on little projects around the house, appreciate the beauty of the beach, hangout with Mama Rose, and just enjoy life in Cateel! Bamboo soup is really good!! Especially the unique ginataang (coconut milk) broth! Seriously awesome!
Yup, this is just more moments at our beach house here in Mindanao.

That is why Mindanao is so blessed! It rains in early morning, to water all the plants and trees. And warm it in the morning sunshine where plant’s leaves start to manufacture their food! So blessed! MINDANAO, the Land of Promise Fulfilled with its Beauty and Bounty! Power On ! 💪

Santelmo is the philippine version of St. Elmo's Fire. Kawayan is Bamboo in english. There are several varieties of bamboo in the philippine. One of which is batong or butong in mindanao it has a thick body and feathery outer skin but has the best tasting shoots. Another one is Kagingking a thorny variety of bamboo and then there is the Bagakay which has a thin body and usually used in making crab traps and amakan. There is also the Bayug variety which is used as fishing rod and bird traps because of its super flexible body. This one is also used a pole for harvesting mangoes and starapple and also used as ladder by linemen back in the 50s and 60s. And then there's damo-an which are usually harvested in December to be used as Bamboo Cannons.

Beautiful place...the sunrise is very visible by the ocean ..careful of your duyan it's almost by the edge ...dining in an open air is so rural feeling...I like the simplicity of the new house and yet there is solar system ...like the people who live on it, simple but powerful ❤Vancouver

Actually, it's called Saint Elmo's Fire, the Roman catholic's patron saint for merchant Mariners. Filipinos call it Santelmo for short.
When Mike mentioned Santelmo and described it, St. Elmo's Fire was what I was thinking too.
