The Rev. Dr. Mack King Carter, the charismatic and intellectual powerhouse who for 27 years preached with heart and soul from the pulpit of New Mount Olive Baptist Church.
The retired senior pastor was 66.
"He was the ultimate teacher, preacher, practitioner of the Christian word," said Dorsey Miller, a boyhood friend from Ocala and former North Broward Hospital District board member. "There was nobody like Mack King Carter."
The 95-year-old Fort Lauderdale church on the corner of Northwest Ninth Avenue is one of South Florida's most popular and influential black congregations. And under the Rev. Carter's leadership, it grew from about 4,000 to more than 10,000 members, making it among the largest in the state.
By all accounts the Rev. Carter was a biblical scholar with a photographic memory who was a deacon at his childhood church by age 10 and pastor of his first congregation by 19.

Dr. Carter was my Pastor and Spiritual mentor. I was so blessed to work at Mount Olive BC and share with him many years and days. Dr. Carter married my wife and I in 1995, the only wedding that started on time in his 30 years of pastoring. RIP my beloved Pastor and leader.

Theologians true studier of the living Word of God. With eloquently fasiprication and true phraseology of true rhetoric and compression of logic of written and spoken word.
