- Dr. Frank A. Thomas interviews preaching legend and Co-founder/Pastor of New Creation Christian Church of San Antonio, Texas, Rev. Dr. Claudette Anderson Copeland. Dr. Coplands talks about her life, call, ministry, mentors, and all things preaching.
She is SUCH a wonderful storyteller. Her voice invites the listener to BE with her and the God that she proclaims. Beautiful!
Listening to her preach is like having a cup of coffee with an old friend. She'll make you laugh, cry, and glorify God the Father simultaneously. A real Kingdom treasure.
Dr. Copeland sounds like a profound poet, touching the core of your soul when she speaks.
What an inspiring interview!! My heart is overwhelmed by the passion of this great woman of God who refused to deny His call on her life and pursued His will and work that so many others might walk in their callings. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to hear from Dr. Claudette Copeland in her own words of her life of service to our Lord.
Dr Copeland speaks and writes like a poet and it’s just beautiful to me ❤
I'd love to meet her. I remember those years of being told "women can't preach," but I can always share my story to help someone along the way. I don't need a pulpit to do that. Thank you, LORD.
Wow. I’m 25 and this has truly impacted me in such a deep way that I will never forget.
This Lady seems to be a loving and terrific mother and yet she talks about never having children. Her reward is so great I hope she knows. She is truly a great influence to all.
She preached a sermon at an EC Reems Women’s Conference, “Joy Comes in the Mourning.” This is in the early 90s. That message from Psalms 30:5. I believe she was preaching through her experience with cancer. Joy comes not in the morning but in the midst of the mourning, in the midst of the weeping. God is there.
I'd love to sit with her for 15 mins..She reminds me of my great grandmother..I can feel her nurturing spirit through the screen..Anyone would come out of that conversation a better man or woman..She's definitely a treasure to the Body of Christ!!
I love her SOOO MUCH! I believe she needs to be ONLINE 24-7 just TALKING! I feel like we need to hear her because it seems like this is missed in church somehow! She's awesome!
Yessssss..Bishop Cleveland....growing up In Los Angeles
❤❤enjoying it all..and have been though it alllllll..yes the COGIC sat on women for yearsssssssss
Where are the giants! Where are the women of God who are willing to mentor today's female preachers?
She is one of the most profound and real preachers of all time. Have always loved and respected her!
Thank You Dr. Frank Thomas.. just thank you!
Bishop Corlett
Wow! Beautiful!
This was profound, deeply insightful, nourishing, and encouraging. I kept on going back for seconds, for I was sitting at my father's table, where I was served food from one of his daughter's powerful and enduring ministry!! Thank you Dr. Thomas. And God continually anoint Dr. Copeland.
I am not comparing myself, but Dr. Copeland story sounds like me.
It was a pleasure to have her share her story, she demonstrates that there is hope in the midst of the dark nights. Dr. Frank Thomas, your ability to provide the community with important and relevant speakers is a Godsend. Hats off to you!!
I am shopping the Spirit! Yes.. Wow.. Pentecostal in a BIG WAY!
She plumbed IT! BULLSEYE!
Thank you Doctor Reverend Claudia Copeland for being strong in a Lord and love him with your whole heart to be able to share his wisdom his knowledge of his love thank you for your dedication and your love for the Lord to be a vessel of Hope for us because I see nothing but God is loving you and you've been speaking my story and I thank God for the woman of God you are
She was my chaplain when we were stationed at Lackland AFB. I've never forgotten her
Dr. Thomas, from my most sincere heart - I thank you for what you do, and who you have done that with. Your fervor for uplifting, equipping and exposing lovers of Jesus is a blessing. Thank you! This post was a treat.
Hey Man -- thanks for your comments. We want to preserve this tradition of African American preaching. It is a honor that the ancestors and God asked me to do it.

Rev. Dr. Claudette Anderson Copeland is my Ministry Motha! I’m her daughter and so proud to be one of them today. IYKYK
Thank you Dr. Frank Thomas for mining the volume of Black preaching genius to give us this diamond embodied in the flesh of Dr. Claudette Copeland. Dr. Copeland was the first womanist/woman preacher that I was encouraged to pay serious attention to when I began to discover my own preaching voice. I heard her preach a sermon on the Rape of Tamar where she called out patriarchy in the biblical text, naming it, male collusion. It blew my mind. And, I'm so glad it did.
So Elegant...
Thank You Dr. Thomas for honoring a GREAT WOMEN OF GOD!!!! THANK YOU REV. DR. COPLAND FOR YOUR MINISTRY AND ALLOWING THE JESUS IN YOU TO TOUCH MY SOUL!!
She just preached to me during this interview!! Thank you so much Dr. Thomas for this and other interviews with these Awesome Men and Women of God!!!

Oh my Father God thank you for sharing WOG and Mr. Frank! Blessings 🙏🌹🎶☀️❤️🥰💕
Thank you Mr. Thomas! The Reverend Dr. Claudette Copeland is one of my only favorite Pastors because she is the first woman Pastor I heard. I loved the way she brought the word, and she spoke with a soft boldness that touched my heart for I am a woman myself. I would buy her cassettes, yes cassette tapes, and listened to them over and over. I had never heard of a city called Nacogdoches. In one of her most powerful sermons, she said a phrase that I have used throughout my life, she said; " People have begun to believe their own propaganda!" She is a woman, daughter, and messenger of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I want to thank Dr. Copeland, if she ever reads this, know Dr. Copeland that I love you, and am so glad that you did become a physician of lost and hurt souls, and heal pain with the Balm of Gilead (which was one of your sermons)that no earthly physician of medicine could get to. Our souls, souls for Jesus, you have saved many and remember it was Mary who saw the empty tomb, and Mary who was one of the first witnesses of seeing our resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Copeland is a Mary of our times. May God Bless her and her family always, and you as well Mr. Thomas!
WOW, Thank you Dr. Thomas. These interviews are Oral histories for our time...
Her ministry has always given me life! So this interview helped me understand why she's so polarizing!!
Pastor Frank, I was so deeply moved by this interview. Pastor Copeland words and spirit reached me in the deepest corner of my heart and sat with my soul. I resonated with her hunger for healing and calling to offer a sacred space to walk with others in their pain and healing process. Thank you for this and many of the other powerful interviews. Blessings Kelly Wilkins
Omg this was very thought provoking and insightful, soul stirring. Thanks for capturing this Dr. Thomas.
1:00:32 “For from the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain; and from prophet to priest, everyone deals falsely. They have treated the wound of my people carelessly, saying, “Peace, peace,” when there is no peace. They acted shamefully, they committed abomination; yet they were not ashamed, they did not know how to blush. Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; at the time that I punish them, they shall be overthrown, says the Lord.” - Jeremiah 6:13-15 NRSV 💙
Many prayers go up now for all of you and your families 🙏
I love you Dr Copeland

What Great Impartation she gave...
Dr.copeland is a powerful,.woman of God.
Perfound interview, a client of mine gave me a sermon entitled When silence is sin... my life was never the same, it was my first time hearing Ps. Copeland.
Jesus, this one was right up my alley. 🙏🏽❤️
Such a power statement God puts that view into my spirit 35 or more years ago as something woman needed to be encouraged to consider, be the woman He called. Not the male pastor you have seen or heard so much
Those last few seconds had me like, "Why am I about to cry? She ain't even talking to me!!!"
Deeply wedded to PRAYER, Keeping my ear to the door!
This just blessed my spirit so.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful heart for God’s people. I feel the real of Jesus Christ witness in you & Dr. Thomas. Love y’all love 💕

The best interview for me so far
Grateful for this conversation.
Thank you Dr. thomas for your vision and for your impartation you have shared over the years. I have always been inspired by Dr. Copeland since my introduction to her at Light of the World Christian Church, Bishop T. Garrott Benjaminm Jr. was pastor. I thank God for her trannsparency. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I really love this woman of God . She is so authentic and special to the body of Christ for such a time as this. I love ❤️ you Dr. Copeland.🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Glory to God for all things He has done.
Thank you mummy claudette for your transparency. I love you ma.
What a beautiful interview. Thank you.💕
Dr. Copeland blessed me with this interview but what she said about her husband probably inspired me most. To have a woman of her caliber stand defensively and say my husband is why I am who I am says a lot about the caliber of man her husband is. I pray for the grace to have my wife say the same of me. Thanks for interjecting that into the conversation!
Geez....you can feel the passion when Dr Copeland reflects on her upbringing in Pentecost I remember those days ... #LifeChanging
THAT'S where I saw her, I don't remember topic or preaching words. DR. COPELAND made a great impact on me. Women conference. THANKS DR THOMAS.
She is the real thing.
RIP 🙏🏾🕊️
She is very still alive and preaching. A quick google search would tell you that.
Thanks for interviewing these anointed women who can preach and teach the gospel. Wonderful!
Wonderful! I am blessed to have simply heard it.
Right...we didn't preach from the pulpit...lord you t talking gooood
Who are you....in the preacher; authentic, have you been broken?! Humility there- availability?! Is there something there that God can use....
Amazing, I’m thankful for this.
Thanks so much for checking out the interview. More to come.
Profound and Convicting - Pastor C has been an inspiration on my life for years. I treasure the times she as visited my church.
Her candor about how she came to ministry is enormously important for us to hear; for me to hear - “floundering” from shock and disappointment by church leadership who would deny me a recommendation into seminary because, I don’t have a familial history or a connection with a church family (I live in a rural area and have had health issues that preclude me from sitting in a pew - spine surgery) but I faithfully attend Rankin Memorial and other live stream services online as a sick and shut-in. Discounting my academic vigor, and scholarship...God showed me even church folk can be unkind. And to think, it was a women in the high places of ministry. So now there is other biases to consider - generational, and discrimination against the disabled, too. But, God! When he opens a door, no one can close it! Church membership is down, and of those who report going to church, they report only going twice a month. These are vital conversations Dr. Frank. Thank you. 🙏🏽❤️🤗 I hope to thank you in person one day.
Awesome Pastor I first saw her years ago with TD JAKE. I never forgot her, AWESOME

54:20 “You will say to me then, “Why then does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?” But who indeed are you, a human being, to argue with God? Will what is molded say to the one who molds it, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one object for special use and another for ordinary use? What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the objects of wrath that are made for destruction; and what if he has done so in order to make known the riches of his glory for the objects of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory- including us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?”
- Romans 9:19-24 NRSV 💙
Much love and peace y’all ✌️
Thank you Dr. Thomas for this interview, and Dr. Anderson Copeland for your reflection and transparency. You have been one of my favorite preachers for a long time. She is my Lover
She says was looking and didn’t know it was jesus. Alls I can say is she’s pretty and I like her glasses. Our Ancestors were kidnapped and loaded onto The Good Ship Jesus. We accepted the god of the bible at the end of a whip, and we prayed to the god of our oppressors. Who’s prayers do we think he’ll answer? Black people are the prayingist, worshipping people on the face of this earth. We will out Muhammad Muhammad, out Pope the Pope, yet the most broken people in the world. Cute glasses though!
Do your research we we're at the table of shaping Christianity long before the middle passage slavery was ever conceived. Even prior to the counsel of Nicea.
