Watch a lot of CZcams videos on cinematography and editing. I rarely post comments but felt compelled to for this video. I’m debating on whether or not to purchase an iPhone 15 pro max specifically for log footage and have been searching CZcams for reviews, tutorials, etc… Your video is extremely well produced and informative for anyone with a reasonable understanding of cinematography and video editing software. I went on to your channel to look at your other posts and noticed that you post somewhat sporadically. I can only assume like many of us you have full schedule but I must encourage you to try and post as often as you can. It’s very difficult to sift thru the irrelevant, sponsored videos on CZcams. You can kinda apply this to most footage, just skip the LOG conversion CST node. :)

Could you please make some long format videos who are starting from beginning? I mean, I have started using DVR and it is lagging in the timeline while I play multiple times. I've seen other videos as well for render cache, generating proxy media but sound is still distorting.

Thanks for watching! You can apply this concept to most videos, regardless of iPhone or not. Only thing is you'd skip the LOG conversion part hehe.
You do need DaVinci though, which you can get on Windows or Mac.

it's not exactly "all you need is 3 nodes", as the first one could (should in my book?) be split into whatever steps you've done, like lift/gain/etc, so that you can more easily find the best setup?
This might sound like a stupid question, but how do you get the .mov file from the iPhone to the Mac? I remember file transfer between iPhones and computers can be painful. I also want to avoid the system apps like Photo or Movies.

Why does your pipeline have the CST in the middle? The last step in your pipeline should be the converstion to REC709 so your Joker LUT might be too strong because its a combo LUT meaning its both creative and does the converstion. You didn't need to set input gamma etc because it looks like your timeline settings are pulling from project settings.
Is it not so good when your settings in Black Magic Camera is display LUT on, Rec. 709 conversion Lut in the LUT selection, record LUT to clip is on and the colorspace tag is to Rec. 709?

I just tried this with a video and it worked well.
But I have a "small" problem and maybe you or another person could help me.
I think the problem started with the iPhone 12 and I'm currently using the iPhone 14. So I've been recording private videos with my iPhone for about 3-4 years having this issiue.
In order to then transfer these to my Windows PC, I select “Keep originals” in the Photos settings on the iPhone. If I select "automatically" the timestamp is reset and I don't want that.
However, as you described here, the copied video is not the same as on the iPhone. The colors don't look good/real.
Now, as already mentioned, I managed to improve the colors with the help of your instructions. However, I would also have to do it for over 500 other videos.
Doing all of this individually would be a huge effort.
So my question is:
Is it possible to set the color settings once for several videos in DaVinci Resolve and then export/render them all as individual videos?
Maybe it is possible to save the colour settings as a LUT-File, export this and then just choose this LUT-File for all of my videos like a filter?
How can i avoid effecting the skin color after color grading? I want to have my skin color same but other places different

Work in ACES timeline project is the easiest and we can work in very wide color space second to none other than DWG.

@@umarnaq I’m planning to trade my 14 pro max with the 15 pro max just because it has log recording, and record through external ssd features. Imagine you shot a footage in blackmagic cam app in apple log 12 bit prores 4444, and everything can be manually control! If you have footage taken in apple log I’d love to try grade it 😅
Do you always use the same LUT, and where do you get it from for free? Also for DIVCINCI resolve can you just use the free version or do you have to pay for it ?
