I had many bikes over the years, but my most favorite bike, bike I had when I was teenager. Is 2001 CR 250. I found one few years ago, did full rebuild. Only thing is missing is E start, but not for long. When u get dirt bike u set up everything for ur ridding style, handlebars, suspension, tires. So it doesn’t matter what year ur bike is. New or old u will make some changes to bike. And when u been riding 25+ years u will have better list of favorite bikes. If u put all new dirt bikes on list, It’s not much of a list. More like a commercial for KTM and husky. Maybe u haven’t been riding for long time but most people will have this bikes on there list ‘01 CR 250, ‘07 YZ 250, KX450, ‘07 CRF450. This is just few. U should mix it up little, try some old school bikes, and see how they stand against new models and other brands.
I had one. Fun bike but they are not made anymore by service Honda. On the trail/woods wasn’t the best bc they’re built on a motocross 250 frame and suspension. Purpose made woods bikes like a KTM 300XCW make just as much horsepower as that old 500 did and are far better off road
@@apostate4apostate494 CR500AF's are still made by the same person, he is just no longer part of Service Honda. built500.com/ Also, brcracing.ca/ makes 500 conversion's out of either the KTM 250/300 motors, and also is getting close to a YZ250 to 500 kit.
@Vee Vendetta yeah my 2021 300 XCW is stronggggg. It’s amazing because it has smooth power everywhere low medium and high and if you want to ride it slow you can with lots of control but if you want crazy power just grab and twist the throttle. Honestly my 300 scares me more than my 500AF did. Even though it’s wide ratio the top end of my first gear is strong as hell. I’ve almost pooped my pants a few times.
*KTM 300 XCW* is the greatest *dirt bike* ever made that checks the most boxes. The *Suzuki DR650* is the greatest *overall motorcycle* ever made for mixed dual sport or general purpose use.
@Vee Vendetta yeah just depends on the rider and the terrain. Fast as hell sections with whoops, jumps, or mixed in moto track then I also prefer the XC. But for enduro riding with exclusive woods gnar, rocks, ruts, roots, logs, steep switch backs, etc then I much prefer the XCW. I personally rank the XCW above the XC because I don’t mix in moto tracks at all and very rarely ride trails with fast whoop sections. So for general purpose enduro dirt biking I feel the XCW just checks more boxes. The newer 2021 suspension is pretty sweet too. Much better than older model year PDS suspension. For most riders ( including myself ) the bike surpasses my skill level. There are very few riders out there that can actually ride fast enough to be too fast for the XCW setup. You can ride an XCW scary fast through the woods and if the trail is rough, rocky, rutted, or full of roots then I think the XCW is actually faster. So it really all boils down the terrain specifics for me.

Good video...and all good bikes. I've been on KTM 250XC's since 2009, initially on a 2010 model, and have been touting (even back then) that the 250XC is the best do-it-all bike. I put over 350 hours on that bike, and absolutely loved it. I did desert riding/racing, technical singletrack, some motocross, and a few GP style races. It can lug down low in the technical stuff, and then will put on the after burners when the terrain opens up. At one point I put on the 300 kit, but didn't like the heavy feel, so shortly afterwards put it back as a 250. I now have the 2019 model...hoping to put a few hundred hours of riding on that one too!
Love your vids... but apparenmtly you've never ridden the king of dirtbikes... Honda. Now I ride a Husky but because Honda won't make a smoker. My 86 cr 125 and Dad's 250, 91, 92, 96, 97 250 s when I raced.....my 4-strokes were great but I love smokers and had to go back... Cheers Kyle.

@Vee Vendetta It is clear to my by your own comment you are not familiar with Honda dirt bikes for the simple fact that the XR models are not dual sport and do not come with street legal titles direct from Honda! You are thinking of the XL models which are dual sport and those do come with street legal titles direct from Honda. Know your Honda's
@Vee Vendetta XR650's don't come with a street legal title direct from Honda! Your friends XR650R's were titled by a DMV I know I did the same thing with my CRF150R
I have a Ktm Xcw 150 for sale 5 hours has proof of that and a fin tracking device on it! Other then an exhaust guard for heat it’s stock as it should be! Not a scratch on it
I really enjoy your reviews and personal insight. Too bad you missed the real GasGas. You should pick up a Rieju to test. I have also found that some bikes that I would have thought to be terrible for my tight singletrack riding can surprise me and work far better than I expected. Case in point is I picked up a beta 520rr to dual sport, but it really works great in the tight trail. Try not to limit yourself to sizes you know.
That is what happened to me. I am 63 been riding since 10 had a Yamaha 125x, KTM 125xc,Sherco 250 factory, Beta 300r, ended up riding a Rieju 300 ranger. Did nothing to the bike and it is perfect. All others I had to gear down and try to find low end . Some had head shake at speeds Rieju is perfect and they come with a 2 year warranty witch not to many know.
Pretty cool video, thanks. Couple of constructive criticism points: not sure you needed such 'epic' music as a backing track. It was distracting. Also, you don't need to announce the name of the list every time you bring up another bike. Just say "number 4" instead of "coming in at number 4 on my all-time favorite bike's I've ever ridden." Maybe write a tighter script or do some extra takes or something. Again, thanks for the video. Fun to watch.
Hey Kyle: Thank you for the Videos, I continue to enjoy them as they come out. This is a great video, but part of me thinks that the majority of your viewership are probably not able to afford a brand new KTM300 or 250. Would it be possible to produce a video of a top 10 affordable / Value based bikes? I believe this video would be more beneficial to your audience and myself included. Just my 2 Cents. Keep up the great work. Thanks
I don't thing a used list will work. What's used, 10 hours 100, 500 hours? What level rider was the previous owner, how much did they spent on maintenance? You can get 10 used same type and year bikes and rank them from worse to terrific. I got a SX450F from 2011. I like that bastard because I adapted to the forks, the way it ride. The way it let me ride. I like my bike over newer other brand bikes, friends let me ride on. I was shocked to ride a '18 ktm SX450F and how good that handled compared to my 338 hr 3rd piston bike. After trying I ended up with a hardly used 2020 Husqvarna FC450. It's what you like, people can not do that for you. I hate 2 strokes, I know they are fast but I can't get the speed out of them the way I am used to. But found out that TPI 2 strokes are like 4 strokes (and cost just as much) but like those anyway.
Who else thinks Honda needs to get back in the 2 stroke game. Or even an exc 4 stroke

No, you are not. I only had yamaha for the past 20 years... love them buuut I have a 2017 ktm 250xc now and wouldn't want a yamaha 2 stroke until they get with the times. Until they have another gear, a counterbalancer, electric start, efi, lighting coil, or something of an adjustable power valve its a losing battle.
@@nickpalazzi2121 funny I have a 2017 KTM 300 XC two stroke for the same reason. Not happy with the build quality of the new KTM bikes. Lots of things failing and breaking. I've been on Orange for 20 years so it's a shame.
You are a baller! 40+ bikes in the last few years? Damn buddy that's good stuff, great content also! Thanks Kyle.
I found it interesting how two of the bikes that you found to be the most precise (KX250X and YZ250FX) are based on motocross race bikes. As a Moto guy who can't even remember when the last time he trail road a bike, I love your channel man. Keep up the great work Kyle!
Great video..KTM is an great dirtbike they just opened a dealership where I live in connnecticut..i bought my son a 2021 Honda CRF 250F and he likes it..maybe someday we can get a KTM..
Colonial power sports? I still gotta get over there, haven’t been there yet!! It’s like 30min from me
Ik your son is having fun I’m trying to get a 250 4 stroke do Yk any you would recommend?, I’m kind of low on funds tho cuz I’m saving for college
@@santanacompyt845 check out the Kawasaki K LX 110..there are so many but that’s a great bike.
I'm glad some Yamaha bikes made the list! I love my YZ 125X!
I’m 13 and have a 2008 crf250r and I love it
Had to play a waiting game to get a good used 2019 ktmxc250. Don't have much elevation change where I live and I wanted a carb as I've heard too many things horror stories
The old saying is that it’s the rider and not the bike only applies of both riders are on the same bike. I agree with Kyle that some bikes just make you feel like a Hero while others make you feel like you suck!
Do a shot everytime he says "bike"
First two minutes and I'm high as a kite

81 shots... Holly crap. ( i went and counted )
1 minute in and I'm 8 shots down lol.
1 minute in and I’ve already had 5 shots
Yeah, bikes are costly too say the least. However, if you put cash away a little at at time you CAN purchase one! I literally saved cash for years to purchase a new crf450r and I am not a rich boy! It all about priorities and being committed to your long term goals !
You should review older dirt and enduro bikes!
I have a KDX200 now and its possibly the most fun bike ive ever ridden.
My 03 kdx220 is the most fun bike i have ever experienced
I have an old it 250, love that bike.
I just bought a kdx200 2002 man it’s so different! It’s light and playful , i was used to a cr250 crf450s and more recently 300xc and 300xcw, I’ve ridden smaller displacement 2 strokes before (125cc)and I never really liked them,, but this kdx200 is so fun! And the suspension is surprisingly soft and comfortable for a relatively older bike
I've got an '01 kdx220r and set up properly it's been an extremely versatile bike. I've done every style of riding on it and it also seems like it'd be great for all skill levels. Suspension is a bit soft for MX but if you're clearing the jumps it's not as much of an issue I find.
Do a top dual sport bikes.
All my life I wanted to have a bike since my childhood..now at 38 I'm just hoping that someday I can ride it even and own it..
Bring back some Yamaha’s to the channel! 125x maybe?

Will you be ever doing a review on the new GasGas 300 or 350
I'll answer that for you. 300 review already covered and Carl isn't keen on the 350. Red KTMs... Saves you waiting so go buy one or not on that. 😃👍

That picture is so cute❤️
You try out a newer ktm 350 I know you don’t like them 😂😂 but they have changed some I love my 350xcfw
I agree. I picked up the 2020 350 EXC-F last year and love it. Bonus for being able to drive it to work! Love it to death!
Personally the 350 sucks. They are so Peaky. It's got a power band like a old school two stroke! Just sold my 350 XCF. Give me a 250/300 modern two stoke or 450 any day. The 350 still has to be ridden like a 250f and that is what I do not like about them. Each to their own however and I'm pleased you get on with yours.
i love my old school 400
@@publicplans5696 the 400 was excellent. Perfect power delivery. Rather have a 400 over a 350. The 400 has torque,. The 350 doesn't and needs alot of revs all the time to get it moving and up steep climbs. Especially for heavy guys.
Xc is all you need everything thing else is just unnecessary letters😊

WHERE DO I START🤔 ? FOREMOST KYLE, BETWEEN YOUR VIDEOS 'N MAGAZINE I'M RELIVING AND REALIZING MY PAST LOVE OF TRAIL RIDING . I'M 65 , 5' 6 " 158# AND AGILE WITH A DESIRE TO INVEST IN A SECOND BIKE THAT BETER FITS THE TRAILS THAN MY 2019 KTM500EXCF THAT WEIGHS ? 300 LB. EVEN IF I COULD FIND A 250 XC , OR 300 XCW , WELL I WOULD HAVE TO SELL MY HOUSE. I BOUGHT THE 500 DUEL SPORT BECAUSE I NEEDED A ROAD WORTHY BIKE TO GET TO THE TRAILS , OR SO I THOUGHT!
LAST FALL I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY FIRST TIME EVER TO RIDE WITH PA TRAIL RIDERS , 96 MILES OF MOUNTAIN ROADS RIGHT DOWN TO ROUGH ROCKY SINGLE TRACK. THE 500 MADE IT THROUGH WITH BEATING THE LIVING CRAP OUT IF ME BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT AND POOR TRACTION FROM THE TWINDURO TIRES. YET ONE GUY MADE THE COURSE ON A HONDA AFRICA!
OK MY POINT I'M MAKING HERE IS THAT OUT IF 250 RIDERS , MANY HAD ( STREET LEGAL LICENSED) KTM XC s & XCW s . WELL KYLE , YOU TELL ME, IS IT A SIN TO OWN TWO BIKES & SHOULD I SELL MY HOUSE IF I CAN FIND HERE IN THE EAST DUE TO THIS VIRUS CRAP!
HUM 🤔 ???? OWNING TWO BIKES !!!!
JUSTIFIED , OR NOT JUSTIFIED ????🤔
KYLE , I 👀 GROUNDS ( DIRT) FIR ANOTHER VIDEO!!!! 🤣😂🤠
Trade your 500 for a 350 or even 250 EXC-F. Lighter feeling and won't surprise the crap out of you like a 2T.
Love the Sherco, only problem is there isn't a Dealer within a 4 hour drive. I am looking at either a Beta or Gas Gas. I currently ride a yz250 built for the Woods, need a 4 stroke to compliment my riding style. I love the 390 rr Beta or the ex450f.
you should do a vid llike this but with 85s through 250s
Sure liked my 17 te250 with sx head/jd jet kit/ suspension revalved. That I put 200 hours on. MY 20 250xc-w is better now with TSP head/ecu reflash puts it on even another level higher. Stock suspension and handling are good also. I seem to like PDS rear suspension better also for traction it gets or feel off road.
I would like to see Honda make a CR250X (i.e. Yamaha 250x)
not a surprise that KTM is top 3... i have a 98 250 exc. i love the bike.
I enduro the heck out of my 350exc-f it’s a 2020 but but you can’t tell it looks old now 😂

Nice video! Have you ever considered reviewing either the ktm500/fe501? It would be cool to hear your opinions on that bike as well. Cheers!
U should mix it up little, try some old school bikes, and see how they stand against new models and other brands.
will you ride a cr500af a report on a trail type experience with one.. be a great video if you can borrow/buy one..thanks be awesome cool
I don't think he knows what a CR500af is
I had one. Fun bike but they are not made anymore by service Honda. On the trail/woods wasn’t the best bc they’re built on a motocross 250 frame and suspension. Purpose made woods bikes like a KTM 300XCW make just as much horsepower as that old 500 did and are far better off road
@@apostate4apostate494 CR500AF's are still made by the same person, he is just no longer part of Service Honda. built500.com/
Also, brcracing.ca/ makes 500 conversion's out of either the KTM 250/300 motors, and also is getting close to a YZ250 to 500 kit.
@@freddunbar cool good to know. All of my most fond memories growing up riding in high school where on my 2005 500AF. I’ll always love that bike
Kyle, another awesome video. With your videos and giveaways, you’re truly doing gods work, I vote to induct you as Saint Kyle Patron Saint of Dirt Bikers!
On your #1 all time bikes, is that a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke? Don’t they make in both ? I have a 450 Kawasaki n did the same as u and went full boar. Not my first bike. Mom said get your butt out there and DO it. :-) anyway, I’m liking your channel and was looking to go a little smaller with all the trails out here in Colorado. Thanks for your time! All newer. I'm thinking a bike from your childhood would play a role in a life of bike riding. Mine is the 1990 Yamaha XT350. The bike made no sense with two carbs and drum brakes but it was an unstoppable tank!

Awesome video! Why don’t you ride Honda’s?
Good video...and all good bikes. I've been on KTM 250XC's since 2009, initially on a 2010 model, and have been touting (even back then) that the 250XC is the best do-it-all bike. I put over 350 hours on that bike, and absolutely loved it. I did desert riding/racing, technical singletrack, some motocross, and a few GP style races. It can lug down low in the technical stuff, and then will put on the after burners when the terrain opens up. At one point I put on the 300 kit, but didn't like the heavy feel, so shortly afterwards put it back as a 250. I now have the 2019 model...hoping to put a few hundred hours of riding on that one too!
dirt bikes r freaking awesome keep up da good work man!
Love your vids... but apparenmtly you've never ridden the king of dirtbikes... Honda. Now I ride a Husky but because Honda won't make a smoker. My 86 cr 125 and Dad's 250, 91, 92, 96, 97 250

Have you ever ridden a Honda CR or CRF or XR ?
@Vee Vendetta It is clear to my by your own comment you are not familiar with Honda dirt bikes for the simple fact that the XR models are not dual sport and do not come with street legal titles direct from Honda! You are thinking of the XL models which are dual sport and those do come with street legal titles direct from Honda. Know your Honda's
@Vee Vendetta XR650's don't come with a street legal title direct from Honda! Your friends XR650R's were titled by a DMV I know I did the same thing with my CRF150R
Judging by the list, the answer is pretty obvious. Pretty much every variant of the orange company and a couple token Japanese bikes.
@Vee Vendetta the correct term is couldn't not could, what you stated is you do care about his description think before you speak.
I have a Ktm Xcw 150 for sale 5 hours has proof of that and a fin tracking device on it! Other then an exhaust guard for heat it’s stock as it should be! Not a scratch on it

2) 73/74.5 Maico MC 400
3) 74 Bultaco M121 360
Solid list! Thanks for the video!
Hi First thanks for the video ! did you try TM racing 250 cc EN FI ?
This is guy is sick with his explanation. Top!👌
How about testing a TM or Beta 250 or Sherco 250 2T?
Hey Kyle:
Thank you for the Videos, I continue to enjoy them as they come out.
I’m so torn between the YZ250X and FX but I think the FX won’t have enough power. What’s your thoughts? I’m 5.10 185lbs
Kyle you never talk about Honda to be fair. Should look into owning one soon
