the performer. At the age of three in the middle of Russia's far
northern Winter she was abandoned, injured, at a bus stop where
she was rescued and sent to an orphanage. At the age of 5 she was
still traumatized and unable to speak properly. A massage
therapist who visited the orphanage trying to help kids, was the
first to recognize something special in this little girl, and
eventually adopted her. Diana was sent for singing lessons because
it was thought that this might help her learn to speak without

Only two years later she started singing in local theater, and in

Russian TV music competition for disadvantaged children. By the
age of 10 she was winning local competitions, singing on live TV
shows, and her songs started showing up on CZcams.
Two weeks ago, at the age of 18, her first performance during a
new Russian television competition with several other renowned
performers, has gone viral and has garnered hundreds of CZcams
'reaction' videos, and millions of viewers. Her first song at the
competition, an entirely new take on Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help
Falling in Love with You' has been called mesmerizing,
transcendental and other-worldly...it highlights her uniquely deep
voice, and effortless range from low to high, along with her
trademark dramatic and passionate interpretation.
Diana Ankudinova sings mostly in Russian, English and French. She
has also sung in other languages including Spanish, German and
Arabic.

I call her "the girl with two voices". She is a natural Contralto(lowest female voice) but she can go up into the Mezzo Soprano range as she proves in this performance. People who have never heard her sing are astonished by her very low vocal range.
The only two female singers besides Diana who I've heard sing consistently in Contralto are Cher Bono and Toni Braxton. There are a few operatic Contraltos I'm sure. The Nightwish Frontwoman Floor Jansen can also go down there but she rarely does.
