    Why are they usually double headers?

    • @keynsham-trains
      @keynsham-trains  Před 6 lety +8

      Thank you for viewing .The trains are double headed because of what they are pulling Nuclear waste so if one loco failed the other loco can carry on DRS & Network rail would not like a train sat in a station over night waiting for recovery . Also it helps to maintain the time keeping of the train even the new 68s are run in pairs .

    Sad they don't use brakevans for such trains anymore.

    @ianshaw6922 Před rokem +1

    This is actual Nuclear Waste being transported within a population...is this safe ?

    • @matzk0840
      @matzk0840 Před rokem

      of course, what do you expect? there are a ton of safety regulations which provide a safe transport like this

      Thanks for viewing . The flasks a made of steel & concrete . Many years ago a old loco was crashed into a flask to test to see how strong that was . The Loco came off worse than the flask .

    Why is it always two locos pulling such a small load??

    • @keynsham-trains
      @keynsham-trains  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for viewing Due to being Hazardous waste 2 locos are needed just in case one fails .
