- In this video I'm assembling a 1:2 scale BMW R90S engine model from FRANZIS. The BMW R/90-S is a 898cc sport motorcycle produced by BMW from 1973 to 1976.

I had a 1974 BMW R75/6, I believe the internal components of them were the same except for displacement. In the video it appeared the cam was driven by a belt, but on mine the cam was driven by a chain.
You are right. I think they've put in a belt to simplify the assembly. Imagine mounting a plastic chain link by link.
@@Ferr1963 That would be quite a challenge building that piece by piece.
I had a 75/6 also, did a lot of kilometres on it. This is a beautiful model and I will buy it. Only differences is model does not have clutch assembly or ignition coils. But what a model!

Being extremely familiar with the boxer having had one since '79 and worked on it extensively they could have changed a few things to make it more realistic without making it much more expensive.
I've also got an R90RS sitting in the garage.
Amazing design.
I've had 3 BMWs and never thought where all the bits were....the starter motor for one.
I always wondered what was inside those strange looking cases 🤔

First, I've always absolutely Loved the Boxers. I have two retired Police Beemers and one is giving me bloody fits because the fairing and gas tank is tightly wrapped around the very same battery I need to remove, and can't figure out which other screws need to be pulled. Oh well...
Second, while the ancient saying, "Chrome don't getcha home " holds true, you do look great standing there in Winslow, Arizona, awaiting for the lovely young Lady in the flatbed Ford...

The price will go down the longer its on the market for. I have their Porsche aircooled flat 6 model and when it was released it was little over 200, now they're on amazon for like 120 lol

My first bike was an R90S with a sidecar! I so want to get this model! :)
Hello, I also built the model. The gear switch unit worked well. After building the gearbox testing passed, But after finishing the whole model I can only select three gears, while de pistin speed remains the same. Do you have suggestion to fix this. I carefully followed the instructions. Thanks for feedback

Yes! Very detailed instructions. This kit is made by a German company, very good quality.
Surely the motor runs at a constant speed, yet you show the engine spinning at different revs! Little bit of sexing up here methinks!

For that price you can buy some cheap (real one) engine from old bike and trying to put it together , you will be 100% happier when you assemble that engine and you hear that 2 or 4 stroke engine sound , but yes when someone live in flat and doesn't have garage , this is good too
NOKERLIK for £200 you're gonna struggle to find a 2nd hand engine like this. I agree though: it would be cool to rebuild an engine and start it up, just for the sake of it!
