Thanks a bunch for inviting me to mess around on your beautiful channel, o tiptop Yogev!
TANDOORI STAINS ... Hey IA! love ya man!
Thank you for providing us with your music
Thank you very much for your contribution and teaching us the ways
My favorite guitarist featuring in a video of Yogev !!! Incredible !!! Love it !
Greetings to both of you from New Caledonia !!!
Best viking guitarist on ze web!
I feel like we metalheads have reached a point where we need our own Woodstock where we would compose Djent tracks using Konnakol while high on acid or shrooms...
I switched from djent to preparative organic chemistry and this insane video is insanely inspiring as multidisciplinary approach can afford conversion of molecular structures into rhythm via multiple coding methods but is there a way to make chemistry with djent?
I need a full length, gatefold, ultra thicc double vinyl of this.
Jesus.
So happy you two met up, have been a fan of Mattias for a long time, his song Rabbit Hole Shuffle is another recentish track that tickles my ears. I'm just glad to hear you'll be doing more collaboration
Should have taken my maths seriously in school !! Damn!
YES! When my drummer (HEJ MARC) told me about your channel I got hooked and knew that you and Mattias would make a perfect match! I'm glad this came to be
Awesome! Thank you!
The best collaboration!! A Reshuffling of Atoms is one of the biggest musical headaches I've ever heard.
Ooooohhh! The guru!
Hope to see you in the Swedish woods, Yogev!
OHHHH I might I might !
So happy to see you compose conceptual music! And collaborating with other fantastic musicians. Loving it
That was so inspiring and mind boggling. I wouldnt mind hearing a full album of this stuff!
That was really awesome! I love discovering new (to me) ways of approaching music. So good!
We need a lot more of you guys
loved to see how to apply the ideas!!!! mooore!
Wow, absolutely love this one, Mattias is a big inspiration since 15 years for me! Thanks as always for your wonderful videos! :) Toda!
A Swede and an Israeli playing Indian Konnakol metal, can't get better than that
I've been to Freak Guitar Camp twice, it changed my perspective on music (and I hate that it sounds like a lame lifestyle coach statement but it really did 😁). Tiptop experience with tiptop people from all around the world, you should definitely try it !
I may actually go !
@@YogevGabay And you went! Amazing to see you there and I must say that your seminar was very very, very good. Powerful voice as well, being able to overpower the absolute mayhem of a swedish freak storm.
@@mrbullseye hahahahaha yeah that rain and hail was METALLLLLL!!
Happy you enjoyed it !
now THIS is a collab! Mattias is awesome!
Thanks! This is very inspiring!!
Awesome vid! Keep it up!
Mattias’ band has been a major inspiration to me since my teenage years
Holy shit, Mattias has been a hero of mine for 15 years! so awesome to see him here!
I've been binging his channel for a while now, and was STOKED when he agreed to join !
Thats the best video so far and you've set quite a standard
Awesome :)
Thanks 😁
The three of you need to be in a band together, that was incredibly fun to listen to.
I'm a huge fan of Mattias! Awesome collaboration!
OH YEAHHHH
Amazing video. Two Thumbs up🤘😊
Super cool! Missed you!
Wish the drums were louder in the full mix on this video, though. 🙂
You've outdone yourself, good sir. Getting the maestro himself on here is above and beyond!
YES YES HE'S EPIC !!
YEAH!!! The arrangement sounds amazing! And your konnakol too, I need more of this content.
Muchas gracias a ti!
Gabriela ! Thank you so much! I hope you're well !
@@YogevGabay Hey Yogev! I'm well, I hope you're too :)
@@gabrielagoni8131 I am ! work work work
I love this!
Awesome collab
what a great crossover!
I love this song, nice to see it disected^^
Wow, what a banger! That's a great composition.
Glad you like it!
Love it and was thinking about the guitar camp already some years ago. And he was so cool as I played on of his songs on my channel..🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Will be try to incorporate konnakol into my work moving forward
Yogev what a great lesson so much great information loved it . There is so many great rythrm to learn this Indian art form . This really opens up the mind and the body. It's very exciting great job excuting the rythems.
Oh hell yeah. Konnakol is the best way to enrich your rhythmic horizons especially if you're trained in western music! it's so different it's gold.
Awesome
you literally never miss
More please
Been trying to white more things like this since learning about it haha it's awesome
This reminds me track by Culprate called Green (Urban Rainforest), especially part that starts at 4:31
wow so cool
This track is killin!🪨
Hejsan svejsan was not what I väntade mig, but it was a nice överraskning
Visst was it?
8:25 "Ionian scale with a *MINOR third"
Holy sh*t that was HEAVY!!! 😱🤯🙌
Brilliant! Yogev, have you perchance listened to Consider The Source? They play an awesome blend of fusion music with lots of Indian rhythmic and melodic tomfoolery in their songs. Check out the songs Tihai For The Straight Guy or Ninjanuity!
It was really cool to hear the metal riff/song in the beginning (1:15) and not really understand it. I thought it sounded really cool but obviously had no idea what counting was being employed. But then after the whole content of the video, I got to see you all play it and understand every bit of it. Great work!
OHHHHH great !!!!
Cool
Talvin Singh also used this on some song. Great music!
Duuuuuuuude!!!!
Can’t wait to hear the final song. This is gonna be insane
The final song? It’s actually Mattias’ song that they decomposed for the video. Just search for A Reshuffling Of Atoms.
@@blackfowl75 ohhhhhhhh! I thought they were composing this together. Looking now.
The guitar adaptaion was my favorite part :)
HELL YEAH
This is a bonkers Collab
I see a Freak and an Israeli - I press like. So much fun!
I always feel pretty Tha Ri Ki Ta Dumb when it comes to Konnakol... And I feel a bit less so after your videos. Thanks!
hahahahhaq nice one
Blue pen spotted. I can rest now. Thank you!
🤘🤘
Great video as always! Definitely going to lead me down a rabbit hole! I will note that in your example at 4:40 the "Tha Ri Ki Ta Thom" is missing the "Ki" and is actual a triplet then 1/16 "Tha Ri Ta Thom", at least is how your saying it. Only noticed because I slowed the video down to 50% to play along because those 32nds are almost too fast to play let alone say! The drum and bass version is dead on though and super rad!
Dude I slowed it down to hear and I sound super drunk hahahahahha this is hilarious !
But yeah, my pronunciation isn't great, still working on it !
@@YogevGabay I noticed that as well, it's very funny! I've repeated it so many times trying to get the pattern down it might end up haunting my dreams haha.
I'm back Yogev...☺
I have been waiting for this....
I'd lie if I said we did only 1 episode.
@@YogevGabay are you serious about joining freak guitar camp this summer?
@@nilton61 Fingers crossed I'll be there yup
@@YogevGabay I find it quite reasonble that IA invites you tog hold a lecture. He does this regulary with quite prominent musicians. I think many participants would appreciate this
@@nilton61 I think it's gonna be huge fun !
כמובן שנקרעתי מצחוק ב- 2:16😂
תודה על הוידאו תותח!
חחחחחחחח תפסת
just a small criticism, i would have liked to hear the final composition with the konnakol mixed in quieter
metal is on a new way, since meshuggah invented the sick but nice way of math metal!
5:22 😂😂😂
My meshuggah juices are flowing
I’ve been really hoping you and IA we’re going to get together on something.
Same !
Great one ! 😮
I have a question about konnakol : in a konnakol "beat", the choice of the syllabes is free or there are some rules to follow ? I don't know if I'm clear 🤔...I mean, it seems when I ear about konnakol that everything is regulated, but the choice of the syllabes of a pattern seems to be more like an artistic choice of the composer, am I right ?
There definitely are some rules. Konnakol uses whatever rhythmic unit you want but you have to stick to it until you hit the ta again. Most of the time. Also, the syllables do have an order. 1 unit is ta, 2 units is ta ka, 3 ta ki te, ta ka ti mi, ta ki te da thom, etc. Not sure how to build 6, 7 and more but I know they’re just combinations of those… sentences? I suggest doing your own research and/or watching Mattias’ videos on the subject to know more about it.
I'ts a pretty interesting subject and I won't pursue myself as if I'm an export.
I learn a lot of these by ear, and after a while you seem to kinda "get" the aesthetics of it, if that makes sense?
Thanks guys :-)
Yogev, I suggest you check the work of Sean Reinert (I don't know if you heard of him). Nothing to deal with konnakol 😅, but he was an amazing drummer who passed away unexpectingly recently. In the album Focus of the band Cynic, there are some cool rythmical surprises that sounds very musical to my poor guitarist's ears ! I'm not sure we deal with polyrythm, but more like rythmical tricks. Tracks like Sentiment, I'm but a Wave to, the last part of How Could I, or Textures, etc. At that time this band was considered like an ufo in the metal scene (1993 I think), but I think it is a great influence for many 2000s bands. You Can also check the Traced In Air album, it is more recent, it sounds more actual, but it is more "standard" rythmically (even if there are impressive drum fills 😍).
@@studiostelemaque9171 Man I LOVE Cynic and Sean. Was pretty devastated to hear when he passed, but managed to actually see Cynic live in 2007 !
@@YogevGabay I knew you were a man of taste :-). I saw Sean and Paul in Paris when they played the Death tribute. Got the chance to talk with Paul because we used to have mutual friends, but Sean has already left the venue 😭
I broke tongue trying to repeat...

Please analyse ”A Headache And A Sixty-Fourth” by Ron Jarzombek.

hahahahahahahahaahahahaha
absolutely masterful! I've listened to czcams.com/video/iurhjlBum0o/video.html a couple of tenths times and I never came up with the idea of understanding the underlying rhythmic structure. your channel rocks (or metals?), Yogev!
Yes yes ! that was the inspiration for this composition !
You don’t need to bring an expert on to talk about songwriting.. I mean come on, you are incredible. I’d wager 99% of commenters giving you shit have never written a single piece.
Well thanks ! I do get a lot of those comments yes, but try to ignore them !
