Kobe’s 40-Point Streak (2003):
9 Games (7-2):
44.0 ppg, 2.6 spg, 0.9 bpg, 49.6% FG, 47.1% 3PT, 83.2% FT.

Wow, dude Big Cat you're living the life brother. Kobe is one the most unique people to ever exist. I would love to be able to hang out and pick his brain like that.
It feels like Kobe is still alive seated somewhere in his home watching TV and this interview! Gone too soon! RIP + 8🙏
The KD question was interesting. If Kobe had done something similar during his run it would have been like if Kobe had gone to the Spurs and won chamionships and then been like “ha! See?! I can win without Shaq!” But everyone would have been like “yeeeeeeeeeeeah, I mean technically yeah. But you’re also playing with three all stars”. If KD had left OKC and gone to another team and led them from scratch to a title, adding a big man like Kobe did with Pau and maybe some good role players then people would have a very different opinion of KD today. Leading a team to a title, instead of jumping on the bandwagon
That’s most peoples problem, he rather ride the coat tails of an already established championship team than lead one himself, nobody kills for leaving OKC, it’s more so joining the team you lost to that won a title without him
His perception of winning a championship made it seem that his wasn’t as valuable compare to us evaluating the winnings of other champions.
@@raykingsley7137 I remember when KD won his first chip, his mom was screaming "You did it. They said you couldn't but you did!"
And I was sitting there thinking? Who said that? Everyone knew it was over when he joined a team with 3 established all stars that won 73 games the year before. People said he took the easy way to a ring in preseason lol if he weren't beating LeBron consistently in the Finals, he wouldn't be getting any praise from people. He'd be the one getting all the hate lol
Joel Smith KD had Westbrook and Harden and Ibaka once and nobody batted an eye because it happened naturally. OKC giving away Harden was one of the worst hindsight NBA moves ever. People say Harden wouldn’t have developed but I disagree.

Kobe a killer on the floor!! Loved watching him play!!
As big and as talented as Shaq was...he was childish mentally, egotistical and self centered. He was lazy unless he wanted to earn something. He wasn't willing to share the limelight and sabotaged 2-3 championships even tho he was indeed dominant and unstoppable, he stopped himself from being mentioned in the conversation as a top 5 player ever
Enigmatic 1 shaq if he had kept his body in shape should be in my opinion the goat. His ceiling was so much higher. Could have easily won another 2 rings with Kobe.
@@jacobmoore7381 I respectfully agree with your opinion in the regards of Shaq would've been the greatest because he had the capability, he made a conscientious choice to slack off and be lazy instead of challenge himself.
He became comfortable in his celebrity whereas the true greats didn't let that deter them by always honing their craft and put themselves in uncomfortable situations willingly to test their fortitude. He was never going to be that type of player mentally, he just relied on his physical dominance
Enigmatic 1 honestly, if Shaq was as crazily competitive and hardworking as a Kobe, Lebron, Jordan etc. it wouldn’t of even been fair at all. He easily would have been the goat, especially if he worked out more bc we’d of gotten a mix of young athletic Shaq and his prime dominant self rolled into one. Combine that with possibly better post work and even just slightly better free throw shooting and you’re talking about a man crafted by the basketball gods himself.
Shaq just wanted to be one of the greats, he never wanted to be GOAT.
He would not have been shaq then lol. Take away what made them great to make them greater? Doesn't make sense
Kobe is very well spoken, i love it.
WOW!! Great stuff Bean!!
If Shaq had Kobes work ethic he may be considered to be the best basketball player ever.
Well kobe isnt considered that but shaq is the best center ever
Shaun Brooks but who did he match up against? Two white dudes and an old Dikembe Mutombo.shaq got the ball cause of his matchups and didn’t have to guard anyone. Kobe guarded AI, Reggie Miller/jalen rose, and jkidd, Kerry kittles. When Shaq went against a real center like David Robinson in the 01 WCF Shaq averaged 27 and Kobe averaged 33 7 and 7 against one of the best defenders in the league.
kobe even said that himself in an interview.
Kobe said that in an interview.
@@belak1551 tbf kobe was facing single coverage while shaq is getting doubled by fuckin Tim Duncan and robinson and whatever else bigs they could throw at him
That's how driven kobe is to win, he knows to win championship, the big fellow needs to be dominant in the playoffs, therefore he is willing to take a back seat for the betterment of the team.
One of the best interviews I seen
I don’t even need an answer. I am just thankful someone finally asked a good question.
Until you win/ achieve your goal, it will always feel like people are holding you back. Anytime you fall short, something will always feel like someone is too blame. (usually, you're a part of that but it's easier to blame it on someone else). Kobe is right, hold everyone accountable, fight and demand excellence. Otherwise, it isn't fair to waste time.
Makes sure people were accountable for themselves, held people to a higher standard, nothing but excellence. Mindset straight amazing. Mamba Forever.

He is back on the Lakers. Putting up his minutes and working for the team
Kobe Bryant averaged 22, 30 and 28ppg for those 3 championships with shaq. And he carried them through the loaded west, destroying the spurs by himself at age 21. Back to back 45 point playoff games when shaq was out. The east was weak and shaq dominated the finals but kobe got them there. And the first finals, kobe got injured and played on 1 foot.
Lol stop. They both dominated on the way to the Finals but Shaq dominated more in the Finals. If the east was weak, why did Kobe's numbers go down in the Finals. It doesn't make sense. Give Shaq his credit. It doesn't take away from Kobe's legacy
@@Onlyrealmusic4life I love shaq, I just have to do this for all the kobe haters. I heavily researched shaqs out of basketball accomplishments and hes one of my idols because of it. Hes an icon
@@PokeKobe24 I admit I used to be a Kobe hater, but by the time he retired, I became objective enough to recognize his skill and that he is one of the best offensive players to ever hit the hardwood. EVER. His game was like poetry in motion. I think Shaq was the alpha in that 3peat, but I think Shaq would have had to take a backseat if he stayed on the Lakers after that. It's kinda ironic because he did that when he went to the Heat but he seemed to hold it against Kobe that he wanted to be the alpha. i agree that Haq was lazy. his career kinda fizzled out after that ring with the Heat.
@@Onlyrealmusic4life what could have been with those 2!!!
@Christopher Law exactly my man
Wow. Reveals alot about Kobe Bryant. RIP Kobe
Why I’m watching this and it feels normal. It’s like he is still alive. That’s one of the things that was special about Kobe
Shawnee Scorpion Very crazy smh 😞
I mean its not hard to see Shaq getting jealous of Kobe's streak. If you watch that Orlando Magic 30 for 30 documentary, when Shaq got hurt in what '95 and Penny went on that impressive streak and got some endorsements, then the lil penny commercial Shaq was totally jealous.... He just didn't like seeing other people having success and getting theirs, not even due to selfish reasons but they HAD to do what they needed to fill the void of him being out and its like he wasn't having that.. That attitude can rub a ton of people the wrong way.. No wonder Kobe wanted his ass out of LA. Shaq was a spoiled child..
At the same time I get it from Shaqs perspective, Shaq made everyones life easier, Penny didn't win without him and he would have been justified had Kobe not won his rings with Pau and Lamar in 09 and '10. But still, Shaq was so immature though the team mentality seemed like something he didn't embrace as much as he could.
Imagine Kobe with a Hakeem Olajuwon or a David Robinson in his prime. Two men who came from humble backgrounds with Robinson being in the military and Hakeem being just a soft spoke yet intelligent man from Africa who played and moved with the smoothness and intelligence of a performer...
Yeah that team would've been comparable to the Boston celtics in the 60's. On their 11 ring Bully ball shyt
Kobe KG - wouldn't that've been amazing
The game kobe is referring to where he "dumped the ball down instead of shooting", he actually had 32.. but leading up to that point these were his points total...40,38,42,35,46,42,51,44,40,52,40,40,41...
IM SHOOK
How many 40+ has harden had this year? In a row? Just wondering. Kobe is the best scorer ever
I remember that! It was against the Clippers I believe. The game where he had that sick windmill.
I immediately looked up the box score when he said that
And they say shaq carried kobe
Mark Juarez you are incorrect. Jordan is the greatest. Sorry.
Great point Kobe makes at the very end. The media never really made the argument that a star player couldn’t win without his duo until the Kobe/Shaq era. 👀 And Kobe still went out and proved people wrong. I could see why people hate on him.

“It’s one more than Shaq” xD
Kobe ... so amazing as a player that I still say his name when I shoot a ball of paper in the trash. .... because who was more likely to hit the shot with the game on the line? ( even more so than Bird and Jordan)
bro get the fuck outta here, kobe is fucking trash in the clutch compared to Bird and Jordan, lebron too is much more clutch than he ever was. those are facts you casual, check them out. you kobe fans always believe media narratives without any evidence to back it up. kobe is 7/28 in shots in the last 24 seconds of playoff games for a measly 28%, thats lower than league average. learn to use facts instead of opinions.
